Hopefully without Cahill we will actually play better football. Take away Cahill's goals (yes i know hes the only one who scores) and he isnt very good and doesnt offer us anything in general play.

Its not impossible if we win against Ghana and draw against Serbian (assuming Germany win all their matched) then we're through. We'll need a bit of luck and a hell of a lot of improvement though.

PS. Pim's the one who picked the squad. He's the one who chose to take four central defenders, four defensive midfielders and only a handful of fit attacking players. He has no one to blame but himself.

I don't totally blame Pim for that, although Macca should have been on the plane. He has to work with the squad he has, as one of the biggest problems is that players haven't stepped up.

Of course, saying the A-league was crap didn't help...

He has to throw Kewell in for 90 minutes, or at least tell us what the hell is wrong with him.

He has to play two strikers.

Do or die. Nothing to lose. All for one and one for all!!!

It can happen. There were positives against Germany...

I missed them. I saw Australia make a couple of half-chances and saw Germany rip the defence apart time after time whilst completely dominating the midfield. On top of that, as many have said, the tactics are all wrong.

The only vague positive is that we can bring Kewell, Bresciano and Kennedy in for the second game - even then we can only do it if they are fit. And even then, it doesn't add the pace that we desperately lacked last night.

Even worse, we could win our next two games and still miss out.

If we beat Ghana and Serbia that gives us 6 points.

If Germany beats Serbia but loses to Ghana they end up on 6 points.

And if Ghana lose to us but beats Germany they end up on 6 points.

I imagine if three teams finish on 6 points it must go down to goals for and against, and we're off to a shite start in that case.

Fantastic optimism there, mate, but do you really think that shower of **** could turn Ghana and Serbia over?

Pim has always played not to lose. Now he has to play to win.

I hope he calls a big team meeting and lets the players have some input, and I hope they tell him loud and clear how they want to play the game.

If hope could translate to a victory I'd be happy. Ghana looked sharp against Serbia, they will be no walkover. 3 pts from the match is not impossible, but this disaster of a formation that Pim is working since USA needs to be consigned to history.

It can happen. There were positives against Germany, when Australia got there act into gear we realy challenged them, we created opportunities early (and don't forget should have had a penalty), Emmerton was great, etc.. Germany where just too strong and after watching the game I think they are by far the strongest and best organised team I have seen so far (that includes England, France and Argentina). And Emmerton was great and the only player in Aus who realy stepped up, I think having Kewell on the left wing would make a HUGE difference as we would be able to attack well from both sides.

Ghana and Serbia are just not the same class opposition as Germany so don't give up hope yet.

So then going into the final game it would be Germany already though on 6 points, Ghana and Australia both on 3 points. We would be facing a demoralised Serbia while Ghana could get slaughtered by Germany.

Final standings:

Germany 9
Australia 6
Ghana 3
Serbia 0

Could it happen?

The Serbs blew it against Ghana, a stupid red card and then an even more stupid handball giving away the goal. They will come out strong against the Germans. But can they beat them? Hard to see it.

And we can still beat Ghana, we just need to totally regroup.

Oh, and play our own game instead of all this BS negative crap.
