You think Australia is gonna fail at this World Cup?? Wait for four more years and you will see Australia get HAMMERED HARDER.. that's if Australia make it in the first place.
The future of football looks bleak and the FFA and A League are doing nothing to help in the development of the future stars and core players that are desperately required once the old kojers like neill and chipperfield and moore and kewell are gone.
As for this morning's calamity.... Neill should never play for Australia again.. how slow was this guy... always at least a metre behind the German strikers... and Cahill's bad tackle fully deserved the red... it was late, high and from behind....
Bravo FFA.... the blood is on your hands.

I'd just like to say, it took until 2002 for the Japanese football team to make it's mark at the World Cup finals, a full 10 years after the formation of the J-League. Australia football has been through a turbulent period in its history recently, it was always going to take a while to transition from the NSL to the A-League. Give it another 5 years, and if we're still in the same boat, then I'll be inclined to agree with you that football in Australia is possibly doomed.

Bravo FFA.... the blood is on your hands. Yep the back line was slow so Pim came up with a masterplan to compensate, after 2 1/2 years of playing the same (boring) system he introduced the offside trap (Something we were clearly not making work against the USA). It wasn't that Neil was too slow, he was constantly playing them onside when everyone else was holding their ground. Chippers was constanly done like a dinner down the flanks and when he thought he had that covered they cut inside him, the speed of the Germans was truly amazing and our guys got sucked out of position trying to keep up. Pim was told by almost every media pundent to pick a different back line but he stuck with the Old timers and is now paying the price. Pitty we can't sack Pim now. but in the bright side we get an entirely new coaching staff and with that you will see some sweeping changes in players.

"next crop of players are NSL produced" - note this, and see why some of us complain so much...
The kids who were 10 when the A-League kicked off, are 15 now... Where are they playing?
Are they at A-League related youth teams with top youth coaches? No.
Are they in FFA academies with professional support? No.
They are playing at the same clubs as 10-20 years ago, with the same amateur coaches, and a total lack of support from the governing body of football.
We have a youth system in place now - but those in charge of it have acknowledged that we don't have the coaches to implement it, and that it won't produce anything for another 10 years...
WRITE THE FUTURE. As they say.

I don't think the problem is about the development at the moment. there seems to be a shortage of players between 23 and 30 (all from the final years of soccer australia not FFA) by the next world cup all the guys who are now 23 or yonger will step up and create a much better squad than we have at the moment. Remember most of Australias top players have not been child prodigees apart from Kewell and Dukes. Cahill, Emerton, Aloisi, Schwarzer, Skoko, Chippers, etc.. didn't break into the top leagues until they where in there mid 20's. at the moment we have heaps of kids ready to step up, just give them time.

WRITE THE FUTURE. As they say. The AFC have released their Club Licensing Regulations and a Manual to go with it. This requires each Member Federation to have their own similar regulations in place by season 2013 which can be delayed until 2014 with AFC approval in extenuating circumstances. As far as Youth Football at a club is concerned each top League club must have at least 4 youth teams as per the quote below. Quote: S.02 A YOUTH TEAMS
The licence applicant must at least have the following youth teams within its legal entity or affiliated to its legal entity:- a) at least two youth teams within the age range of 15 to 21; b) at least one youth team within the age range of 10 to 14; c) at least one team below the age of 10. The youth teams in the above age ranges litera a) and litera b) must take part in official competitions or programmes recognised by the national association and played on national, regional or local level. Each youth player of those teams must be registered either on national and/or on regional level. There is no obligation for the youth teams in children football (litera c above) to take part in official competitions. For these teams suitable events should be organised (mini-tournaments, youth gatherings on local level etc.) in order to provide fun and give them the opportunity to gain experience playing with other children teams. No mandatory registration of these players is required.
At least one qualified youth coach must be appointed for each of the mandatory youth teams as detailed in the quote below. Quote:
P.11 YOUTH COACHES The licence applicant must have appointed at least one coach responsible for all football matters for each mandatory youth team (cf. S.02). The youth coach must hold the minimum qualification as defined by the licensor. He must be duly registered with national association or league. The appointment must have been done by the appropriate body of the licence applicant.
