Chin up timmy. It was probably not a red card. The rest of the team must now lift against Ghana.

fair red card in my opinion

perhaps some of you experts need a refresher on the rules of the game

take it on the chin and learn rather than always making excuses for poor play from Aussie players

I think Cahill has got away with it once to many times, the previous game he went in with his studs up, and what no red card he deserved. I don't think this particular tackle deserves a red card as such but it was pretty dodgy.Playing in Europe, you don't see him tackle the way he does when he plays for Australia.

A challenge like that from behing is a red card.
Had he done the same thing from the side or front, it would have been a yellow.
This is not the EPL or HAL where breaking a leg gets you a yellow.
Tim had no logical reason to attempt that tackle.
It's something we have to get out of our game. It happened in the Youth World Cup and now this one. We can't afford to continually end matches with 10 players.

The possible 2 game ban is basically there because most straight red card offenses are pretty bad, and therefore deserve more than just the single weeks suspension that would come if the red was because of 2 yellows. In this case, everyone who's seen the replay can see that he was basically pulling out of the tackle but the momentum took him into him. It would be very strange if he got the 2 game suspension.

But if I was the coach I'd be going to Tim and saying that I don't want to see him go to ground in a tackle at all! Even if he manages to get the ball cleanly, I don't want to see any slide tackles from Mr Cahill!
