tbh, you could say the same thing about Santo & co.

I don't think they should be doing previews of the games. There's not much comic value to be found there. Reviewing games is where all the potential lols are.

Gaz, is this your wench?

It's not that amusing. They're better than the footy show, but that's not saying much these days.

They're fairly funny, but then it stops being funny when they stop to laugh at their own jokes.

I remember it being good but that's about it.

Yeah it was called Baddiel & Skinner Fantasy Football ( David Baddiel & Frank Skinner ) & it was brilliant, they did recreated famous World Cup moments. This idea was later copied here in Toyota commercials where they did famous AFL moments.

I just found on youtube that they are doing a World Cup 2010 series as well.

Oh indeed...

Just on this, 'having the show on longer term - during the A-League, talk.' Take heed from the lessons of HG and Roy's quick rise and decline in the 'in thing' stakes circa the Sydney Olympics when they were literally the hottest Olympics coverage in town, and that was from the world community (Featured on American and International news media etc...), and again they were sky high in the popularity stakes, aswell as 'on comedic form,' for the 2002 Winter Olympics. 2004 Athens was ok, but by then you could see the dreaded shark rearing it's head, you know, the shark television shows do not wish to jump (When they 'Jumped the shark' on Happy Days) - Maybe Athens was like that second movie sequel, that 'Batman Forever?' By that time, HG and Roy, still with Seven, had their weekly 'Monday Dump Show' aswell and by then the novelty had well and truly worn off. And it's a shame too - they WERE around for Beijing, but it was very diminished compared to previous years, I am not even sure they had a full show then, if one at all - Were they even still with Seven by then? It had seemed to have already run it's course, but if it were better managed, then HG and Roy could've sustained that show, kept the light burning, for more Olympic Games I believe, but over exposure sapped the life out of it.

This Cup Fever show is a great pleasure, now, in this unique environment, but beware taking it out of this environment. Any such show would have to be an entirely new creation and to be honest that would just end up not appealing enough to the masses it's appealing to now - Because like how HG and Roy's shows were drawing comedic inspiration from their rich Olympic surrounds, Cup Fever is all about the World Cup and it's core appeal is still that - that it's about, the World Cup.

Mind you it WOULD be great to have this sort of show sustained somehow, but just don't push it, otherwise it will be ruined.

Though TBH these guys, Santo and even Ed atleast, are pretty experienced with these things - Anyone remember Ed's VERY SHORT lived show on Channel Seven, like last year I think? I have no idea of it's name, but it was some show where they reviewed the stuff that was on TV at the time or something. It didn't even last a handful of episodes before being pulled - I presume it was Ed's first effort at hosting his own show. It came about not long after TGYH (Where he/he was? a prominent feature) moved to Seven. And again Santo and Ed have alot of experience with the Commercial networks and infact both may still be tied and even be drawn to do new projects with the commercial networks, THANKS TO their success with this program - 'stolen back' off SBS if you like. Speaking of that, Sam is certainly the only bona fide SBS guy there and lol I think it shows at times, they even touch on it in a way when Santo and Ed seem to faux gang up on Sam with some of their running jokes, like that SBS dress code one (Though that's more related to another new SBS man, Dempsey ofcourse hehe). And you guys are right there, mr 'AD/BC' certainly should have a bright future on Aussie TV, with SBS atleast. :)

cause i don't think Lloyd will be there next season...

the dempsey joke's are great... how they got him dressed up in the Swiss gear for it was brilliant, hope that sort of running joke keeps on going, would be hilarious to get him in as a guest when the group stage finishes up...

Favourite moment so far?... probably Ed telling the whole of Italy to harden up, the Vuveleza silencer, and all the technical fuck ups on the first show

2 shows, 2 hours.. every week on FTA. Would be great exposure for the HAL. Could actually be just as effective as showing 1 HAL game a week on FTA.

Agree , it would be good to laugh at people deliberately trying to be funny , instead of clowns like Harper and Foster.
