After you're result I suggest you worry about Aus group instead of belittling anything NZ achieve. They are ranked 78 not 20 and have achieved more than anyone expected whether pretty or not.
P.S: We are hoping for but don't expect a result in the next two games. Aus on the other hand I believe can come back from this if they pull it together against Ghana. Good luck really That's pretty much the sh.t I've been trying to tell you guys on YF for 2 years now, love how you throw it back at me as if I have not said it before. I'll take that as a compliment that I was ahead of my time. PS - When a country such as NZ can compare itself to similar sized countries such as Uruguay and Switzerland, then come and talk to us. Uruguay has 2 World Cups. NZ 1 draw in 3 WC games. Switzerland has a professional league of its own at least, and has made a few WC's and Euro Cups. Do some work like Uruguay has and then come and talk to us.   Edited by diego's son: 17/6/2010 06:16:29 AMEdited by diego's son: 17/6/2010 06:47:40 AM

Like some other posters have said Paraquay will be the team that can give us a lesson in football similar to what the socceroos had and dont forget Japan is a team ranked 45 but Aus rate them as quality opposition so don't discount NZ's performance against Slovakia ranked 34th. Go All Whites and good luck with Serbia for the Socceroos I edited the above post to make it relevant to the World Cup, and to the topic at hand. Keep the personal stuff to yourself, it washes off like anything. In fact, when I read the abovwe post, I recalled the line from Terry Clark in last years' Underbelly "Us Kiwi's Have Got to Stick Together". At least you guys stick up for each other (much like the Greeks do at times). Edited by diego's son: 16/6/2010 10:52:19 PM

Maybe you should take your own advice !!! no seriously think before you type where does he come across as cocky. As a Socceroos fan who also finds joy in NZ success, I find it sad that a couple of posters in here cannot be charitable towards Australia's little bro (likewise thumbs down to the NZ Herald for having a chip on their shoulder towards Australia). What planet you on son, most of the threads here have been supportive of NZ's result. Technical analysis/comments of the game (good or bad) and the result are two different things in this instance. Lighten up. Once the emotion dies down and you look at the game in cold-blood you will realise that technically it wasn't flash. Edited by diego's son: 16/6/2010 05:33:30 PM

There is no player who i have heckled more than Shane Smeltz on his visits to Bluetongue Stadium. Especially last season when he got himself sent off.
However his tenacity to win possession in the dying stages of the game, and enough poise to set up Reed to head in with a lovely ball, was really somethin'. Kudos to you, Smeltz.
Shit boring game though

I was happy watching last nights draw. I doubt they can get a win against Italy or Paraguay, but stranger things have happened. At least they started better then Australia. Now, I'm looking forward to watching Chile :)

And Diego, I think that comparatively Slovakia is basically Germany for us - we're ranked around 79th in the world and you guys are ranked 20th. Anyway, we're playing Italy next up anyway so your argument is moot. Don't get too cocky Haak, rankings don't mean sh.t at present, your in the Cup proper now. Look at the game objectively, it was poor quality overall for a match of this level and importance and FIFA would not have been impressed with the crowd figure there (I was going to shut my mouth, but because you made a stupid comment I'll add that in). Watching with neutral eyes, the Slovak's weren't that great. They had flashes of good play, but they weren't a Germany-style sh.thot team. You've got Italy and Paraguay next. Good luck. PS - Look at how aikenmike responded, civilised and mature, maybe go and learn how HE does it next time.

I'd love to see it happen, but the truth is that they started their group phase with their easiest match and just scraped a last gasp draw. Really, you'd have to say this was a game they had to win rather than draw to really have any chance of getting through the group.
Still, miracles do happen in football.

I think Italy and Paraguay drawing is the worst possible outcome for the All-Whites. Italy will be desperate to get back on track, while Paraguay have the tougher match in the 2nd round of matches, and may quite possibly need to get something out of their third match, again putting pressure on the All-Whites.
It is the world cup though, that's what you get.

I don't think NZ will pull through, but I was however very impressed with there determination and the way they grinded in a result. Credit to them.

I've been telling my Kiwi friend for 6 months, that playing Italy 2nd is the worst possible draw you can get. Italy will be playing for the win to secure qualification. If NZ faced Italy in the 1st or 3rd games then things may have been different. 2nd? Expect a very determined Italian team.

Alright, I'm going to stick my neck out first and comment, New Zealand's "Germany" is about to come. Slovakia weren't that flash hot. There I've said it. I somewhat agree. I think we will be ok against Italy (to not be Germany'd :P) but Paraguay scares the shit out of me. If we defend short interpassing near the top of the box like we did last night, Paraguay will tear us a new asshole.

This is the way Australia should be thinking! Who cares who you face everyone is beatable. Watching the Kiwi players all sing the national anthem was impressive. They have something Australia lack, passion and heart.

This is how Australia should have been talking prior to the Germany game.
Instead we rolled out a defeated Lucas Neill at every opportunity telling the Krauts how great they were and we had lost the game before the first whistle. I cant understand why we did that.
I hope NZ can repay Italy for what they did to Aus in 2006!

This may seem slightly insane, but I think they can get a result against Italy. Paraguay, though, will drill them.

Calm down guys, you just drew with the weakest team in your group (not including yourselves). Now for Italy and Paraguay... A win has to come from one of those two
