this is more about winning and keeping our tournament hopes alive. this is about keeping the sport alive in the country, where most are ignorant and think of football as no more than a "game for sissy's". just like at 06, we have to sell the game to the country again for its continued growth.

I'm sure the FFA are completely happy with their massive 5000 crowds for A League matches, low TV ratings and crappy TV deals.

When 80% of the Australian population are 'bogans,' unfortunately for the moronic football purists, ignoring the majority of the population is not an option. Football bandwagoners and fair weathered supporters, like in all sports, are required for any healthy competition.

Unless you're going to be happy with mediocrity for the rest of your life, my advice to football purists is to bite your tongue and be welcoming to all potential supporters of the game. The game needs as much support it can get.

I think Kevin hit the nail on the head the other day when he talked about the Socceroos having such a high profile similar to say The Wallabies or the Australian Cricket team but not the dominance world wide in the sport, so average boofheads who make up 80% of the population think Football is shit when the Socceroos don't achieve, not realising how far we are down the pecking order in world football.
