A further quote from the rules of the game, for those who still don't get it... FIFA.com wrote:...A direct free kick is also awarded to the opposing team if a player
commits any of the following three offences:
• holds an opponent
• spits at an opponent
• handles the ball deliberately (except for the goalkeeper within his
own penalty area)
A direct free kick is taken from the place where the offence occurred
(see Law 13 – Position of Free Kick).
Penalty Kick
A penalty kick is awarded if any of the above ten offences is committed
by a player inside his own penalty area, irrespective of the position of
the ball, provided it is in play. So just quickly once again, it wasn't a foul, wasn't a penalty, wasn't a red card. Wasn't shit. It wasn't deliberate and there was nothing Kewell could do. But it's too late now, the poor decision has been made and the match is over. 1-1 it is.

It has to be deliberate. Simple as that. Was it deliberate? Not a chance in hell. So therefore it wasn't a penalty, wasn't a red card, wasn't a goal. It should've been 11 vs 10 with us at one stage up 1-0.

Is anyone else heartbroken for Kewell? His last chance to prove himself on the world stage after a stellar career blighted injury and some cunt takes it way in a second. Is there a way the fans can contact him ad offer their support? I have an unwavering feeling that he deserves that much and more from us right now.

Point is he prevented a goal being scored it's a red card plain and simple. The ref can't give the penalty and not the red he has to give both in that situation. Yes it does matter whether it is deliberate because the FIFA laws of the say a blatant intentional act is a red card whereas if one can't avoid contact (ie Kewell) it shouldn't even be a penalty, or if it is a penalty with no card.
