JAPAN'S Keisuke Honda was left confused by his emotions yesterday after admitting he was not really happy despite helping his country reach the last 16 of the World Cup.

Honda is awesome. That's the attitude Australian players should have. Honda oozes ambition so much that he didn't even get excited about making the round of 16.

Honda is JApan's best player and it amazes me how much the Japanese media have tried to bad-mouth him prior to the World Cup.

The difference between Honda and other Japanese players is that Honda doesn't have a 'Japanese mindset (Something only expats in Japan would understand).' Honda is supposedly too much of an individual and wants to rise up above the rest and actually have an influence on the game, whereas the other Japanese players (Apart from perhaps Tulio), want to be 'part of the group.'

Honda is JApan's answer to Timmy Cahill, except for the fact that he's actually a genuine Japanese player (Cahill actually wanted to play for Samoa and Ireland and only played for Australia because he was forced to).

If you look at the games previous to the world cup Japan would not have adequate possession therefore are unable to gain free kicks. Once they can they are very dangerous as this is a speciality of Japanese football. Even Verbeek would hound into his players "do not give away free kicks in dangerous areas". I still think they will struggle to score too many in open play and might be an achilles heel for them.
