no surprises there What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Blatter Has Oz Age Concern? THE AGEING squads of Australia, England, Italy and France may have contributed to their downfall at the World Cup, according to FIFA president Sepp Blatter.Have your say.

That doesn't mean shit. Three of the four youngest squads are our, as are three of the four oldest. Brazil are one of the favourites and have the second oldest squad there!!
Blatter talking crap as usual.

I think the tickets were bought by scalpers/groups who tried to on sell them for a profit but found no one willing to pay for them.

afromanGT, the article says we have the 2nd oldest... not Brazil...
anyways the thing about us and some of the other teams having old squads is that it means next tournament we will presumably have one of the youngest squads. its just a cycle that occurs.

STFU Blatter. You would think the head of FIFA would have bigger fish to fry currently than the ages of some squads.

Saw the headlines and thought it was surely talking about the latest WC story in the Age: "World Cup money trail: lobbyists to make millions " http://www.theage.com.au/national/world-cup-money-trail-lobbyists-to-make-millions-20100629-zj89.htmlUPDATE: OK, I found the FFT thread: http://au.fourfourtwo.com/forums/Default.aspx?g=posts&m=649305򞡙 Edited by GazGoldCoast: 30/6/2010 08:19:56 AM

Honestly, if anyone is too old it is Blabber and his cronies who are keeping the World game in the darkness. Why would he care? What an absolute idiot!

I dont see how he thinks team selection is any of his business. His business is the implementation of behind the goal referees, and possibly a video challenge system. Stick to that Sepp, instead of trying to divert attention away from your own failings.

Personally i think you need a mix of youth and experience which all teams mentioned didn't have. Australia simply have no young guns (U/23) at that level our football development has only began to take shape. If you watched the U/20 we were disgraceful, what can we do?

Isn't this the same guy that thought football should be played in four quaters and that female players should wear hotpants to make it more 'aesthetic'. Thanks for the advice sepp but why don't you just worry about your own house.

Sep Blatter is right. Our current squad is full of overrated and overpaid old molls because Pim Verbeek was in love with them.

Did anybody not think that the ticket sales were a sham. Like the sydney olympics, nobody travels that far south of the equator, certainly not to a country where the security is crap. The ticket sales didn't happen, the seats filled after the start of the games thanks to "rent a crowd" free admission.
If the ticket sales were to scalpers who couldn't move them, then thefantastic scheme they assured the world would stop the scalpers was probably as good as the security in the hotels ???.
The world cup is not up to expectations because of the geriatrics running it ..... there I got thru my rant without even mentioning corruption or match fixing !!!!!

Australia could only take advantage of this information, IF our Olyroos were generally playing at world-class level ... which they aren't.
The problem was that Pim refused to experiment a lot in friendlies where new blood should be tried out.
The only times he "experimented" was in non-FIFA-date games where the entire team was made up of A-League players. That is not the way to do it.
The way to do it is to introduce a few new players who get to play with the experienced players, so that learn the level of quality of the senior members.
Awaiting the decision of the new Socceroos coach.

I don't know that means all that much really. Australia with it's old squad outplayed Ghana despite being 1 man down and really should have won that game. Ghana are very lucky to be in the last 16, unlike Germany who've played some great football, they don't really deserve to be on performances in the group phase.

In fact...looking at this... 1, Brazil 2. Spain 3. Portugal. 4. Netherlands 5. Italy 6. Germany 7. Argentina 8. England 9. France 13. Greece 14. USA. 15. Serbia 16. Uruguay 17. Mexico 18. Chile 19. Cameroon
20. Australia 21. Nigeria 24. Switzerland 25. Slovenia 27. Ivory Coast 30. Algeria 31. Paraguay 32. Ghana 34. Slovakia 36. Denmark 38. Honduras 45. Japan 47. South Korea 78. New Zealand 83. South Africa. 105. North Korea
I'd say the world rankings are the source of the problem problem...

Speaking of ageing, Sepp Blatter is a fossil, a disgrace to football, and the head of a stagnant, putrid, inept organisation, that should either sack itself and let another more effective organisation take its place, or just get rid him and try and recruit some people with half a brain!

what a load of shit blatter!!
way to go on taking away the limelight from the ref decisions. That i think is more important than how certain teams performed and who they choose. how it's relevant to you i just dont know.
talking shit as usual. brazil anyone?
