Any player that says that they wouldn't do what Suarez did is kidding themselves.

They need to change the rules to make it a goal + a yellow.

Semantics. It's cheating, no matter how you define it. Moreover, he didn't take anything for the team. It didn't cost him a thing, he didn't pay any consequences. If he let it go in he was going home as they would have lost. A red for him hasn't cost him a thing. Missing out on a match he wouldn't have played in anyway? Come on.

Need to adopt a penalty goal system like mack said. This has set a dangerous precedent: if you are up or even and desperately need the points and its near the end of the game, just save it with your hands if you can't get it legally.

So everyone who says that a goal should be given and a yellow card for something like this. Would everyone have been ok with Ghana being awarded a goal for the Kewell incident?

If we thought it was deliberate (and by that I mean that he purposely tried to stop it, not FIFA's definition). That would obviously be the biggest flaw with the proposed rule change, it would be up to the discretion of the individual referee. (But then again, everything else is up to the ref's discretion and fifa seem to think he is omniscient anyway, so I can't see why they would have problems with that.)

*I actually still think it should be a red as well as the goal to be honest... I am not that worked up about this event compared to others though. It just seems like there has been so many bad ref calls or dirty behaviour by players this whole cup that it finally has become 1 too many.

I agree, this type of abomination on the game won't change until the rule is changed. A fair goal was blocked by two hands. Goal should be automatically given, player red carded and banned for 8 weeks.
Kewell had no time to think, his arms were down. Sure goal should be automatically given, however he should be given a yellow, because even in slow motion it is hard to determine whether intentional or not. I would say it wasn't.
FIFA doesn't like change, so this will happen again and again.
