shameful. he should have been pulling his jumper over in head in shame, not jumping around like a fool.

So he was meant to be sad and in shame that Uruguay was still alive in this World Cup?

I'm not sure what all the uproar is about "cheating" in this circumstance. If Ghana were good enough, they'd have scored their penalty. As it was, they missed.

All Suarez did was what any other player in his position would have done - when he realised he couldn't reach it he made the decision to handle it and at least give his team the slightest, tiniest chance of still being in the game. If any of you thinks that Australia would mind going through to the semi-final of a World Cup this way you're kidding yourselves. Suarez is a hero in Uruguay for putting everything on the line for his team and giving them that 15% chance they could still be in the match, as would any player in this country be for doing the same thing.

Gyan = all talk, the media 'apparently' compared him with the likes of Messi and some of the best. Sorry, he is poor form, his conversion rate over the course of the comp in comparison to his goal rate solidifies that. Dudd, failure, needs food in a hurry

Suarez is out for the next game, justice is served, Ghana were shit and are shit, justice has been served.

Who cares what happens next, Ghana has been a joke and had no chance anyway. They scored all their goals in the group stage from penalties from the opposition and finally decided to play football outside of that stage.

Ghana were shit, it was questionable as to why they were at the WC in place of Egypt etc etc

So wait Suarez did it because he knew Gyan would miss. WTF are you on about cheated to win. He cheated to save a goal. When he got sent off he was in tears because he thought he'd lost the game for his country. He didn't do it to win the game it was a rush of blood in a high pressure situation that's it.

road warrior - i think there is a difference between a little bit deliberate and a lot deliberate. it's not something that can be written in a rule book, but players know what is sportsmanlike and what isn't. i think across any league or culture or whatever, the universal judgement is that suarez deliberately cheated to win the game.

Whether people are upset about what he did is beside the point.

Harry Kewell's was deemed by the referee and FIFA to be deliberate and he only received a one match ban. So according to the rules how can this one be considered worse? Is there ‘a little bit deliberate' and 'more deliberate’ in the rule book?

If Gyan had scored the penalty, Suarez would get a one match ban and no-one would care. You can’t increase his ban because Gyan missed.

As a reference, Roddy Vargas did the exact same thing in a Victory game a few years back and served a one match ban. I doubt anyone called for a longer ban then, and it was probably because the Mariners scored from the resulting penalty.

Nobody would be asking for this if Ghana had scored the penatly.
Hypocritical it may be, but it takes something dramatic to instigate change.

Would seem fair. . . but who knows what FIFA might do. The amount of "unsportsmanlike conduct" that's been let go this WC is a shame. Most games have been influenced by unsporting-like play. I just hope the final doesn't end up influenced like so many other games have.

FIFA should make an example of him; it's blatant cheating, no other way to describe it.

I think he should be banned for 4-5 games to be honest, carrying over to the next world cup, ruling him out of the group stage of that (not sure his age though as to whether he will be around). FIFA have to do something about cheating if they want to keep claiming this fair play garbage they are always on about.

That would be a fair punishment. It was blatant cheating and a tad unnecessary. If the ball was flying into the top corner and he jumped up and saved with his hand like a goalkeeper, then the same thing happens with Gyan missing the penalty. If that's what had happened and as needed then I don't blame him.

It was an unnecessary handball because he pretty much swatted the ball from hitting his face/head. He could have just headed the ball away. Watch the replay again and the ball is going straight for his scone.

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article FIFA May Extend Suarez Ban?
FIFA have confirmed that Uruguay striker Luis Suarez could miss the rest of the World Cup following his hand-ball against Ghana.

Have your say.
