Former Socceroo star striker Eddie Krncevic has returned to take over the coaching reins at FIFA team of the century South Melbourne.
This is Krncevic's second stint at the Albert Road Club having coached them previously back in the NSL. Krncevic also coached Carlton SC and Marconi in the late 90's and early 2000's.
As a player Krncevic was the pioneer in blazing a trail for Australians into Europe and had a star-studded career with Anderlecht in Belgium.
Krncevic replaces New Zealand international Vaughan Coveny as head coach while Coveny's former assistant Joseph Montemurro has been asked to stay on by Krncevic. Montemurro has just returned from the prestigious Italian Football Federation coaching course at Coverciano.
Krncevic told tribalfootball.com: "I am deeply honored to be back at South Melbourne. And I have a very clear mandate to return to South Melbourne to the top of the game both here in Australia and internationally.
“We are competing in the Singapore Cup quarter finals next month and I want to go all the way and win that Cup,” he added.
“The Club has something else on the international scene that they are planning for 2011 so we have so much to get excited about. The squad I have inherited should really be strong enough along with a few quality additions to be very successful
Interesting that there is a mention of a further calendar planned abroad

Don't know what the official line is, but when you compare the quality of the squad last year to the results the club got - I'd say Covs simply wasn't good enough.
