He wont come to Tennessee. Locker is our future and he is learning off Hasselbeck.

Niners already signed Alex Smith to a two year contract extension.
Miami will have a preference for Matt Flynn since their HC was his old OC.
Jets are sticking it out with the Holmes/Sanchez combination.

Smart money is on the Seahawks or the Redskins.

The Seahawks have just signed Marshawn Lynch to a new 4 year contract and having someone who can actually hit Doug Baldwin and the explosive Golden Tate more efficiently would be an ideal investment. Those combinations alone would push them into the play-offs in what is a borderline mediocre NFC West.

The Redskins have little to lose by offering Manning a big contract. Rex Grossman just god awful and won't be back net year, leaving them with John Beck and Jonathan Crompton. Not the ideal option there. The problem is there's no point in them throwing big money at Manning when most of his potential support crew (Stallworth and Hightower off the top of my head) are UFA this season.

Learning off Hasselbeck? How to use Regain?
Remember Manning was a star at University of Tennessee. It'd be a homecoming of sorts. And Locker, seriously?

Redskins are still my top pick.
But I still reckon Smith just isn't convincing enough that the Niners wouldn't have a serious look at Manning.
As for Miami, logic says Philbin would go after Flynn, but his bosses have made enough rash decisions over the last few years that making a splash with Manning could be on the cards. Of course, being Miami, it's bound to backfire.

Smith isn't convincing. One season isn't enough to build a franchise off after three dud seasons. But that said, they wouldn't offer him a 2-year 12m contract + performance incentives if they're going to use him as a back-up, are they?

The thing with Flynn is that Philbin is the only coach out there who really knows him. There aren't a lot of other possible teams for him to land at. Perhaps at Denver as a 'throwing' option, but Tebow is working on his action so that seems superfluous. Redskins would jump at anyone who isn't John Beck.

It depends on who's able to trade-up with the Rams in the draft to get RG3. The Seahawks are too far down the draft to get a top QB, they can't settle for their current stocks. Which is why I think they'll throw the kitchen sink at Manning.

Titans need to bulk up their whole D...but this really isn't the year for it unless you're willing to spend big in the free agent market. But then you could have Freeney and Williams if you ARE willing to spend big.

I'm still stunned that Redskins traded 2011, 2012 and 2013 first round picks to get pick 2 this year. That's mind-boggling that they can look at their team and go "we'd be in the play-offs and don't need to improve further as long as we've got a QB"...

And part of me is expecting the Colts to really fuck things up and pick RG3 with Pick 1.

They are paying a massive price. Even if they get RG3 (or Luck), they can't provide him with first round quality help for 3 years? Yikes.
Having said that, if either have the career they are supposed to, the Redskins have the franchise QB they need for years to come.

Well, they gave them the 2012 first and second round picks, the 2013 first round pick and the 2014 first round pick. So they'll be crippled for three years for rookies, it's a big price to pay. It's like the ultimate kick in the balls for Redskins fans. "YES! The team is showing ambition! And putting all their eggs in the one basket."

It's all well and good for Redskins to have the 'franchise QB' that they're looking for. But if Dante Stallwell and Tim Hightower leave on FA he's going to have no support from the offence around him.

The defence faces losing Landry, which will leave them with nobody but Orakpo to make the big plays. So either Redskins are going to have to get very busy in the free-agent market (they've got the dosh to throw at Williams, Wells, V-Jack, etc) or they're fucked.

I would think that the powers that be ok-ing this trade would be a long-term commitment to Shanahan (at least until 2013).

But really, he's still trading off his 'bowl XXXII and XXXIII wins, even there he came along into a team with a lot of young talented players and players hitting their prime and then dismantled the team over the course of a decade.

   ](*,) Packers have some of the most passionate and hardcore fans in the league. And I wouldn't call them an upper-market team tbh. If I wasn't a Patriots fan, I'd probably be a Packers fan. And before you hit me with all the "Oh, you're just a Patriots bandwagoner", it's true that I did decide to follow them following Family Guy, but the difference between me and a lot of glory-hunter's is that i know all the players, I know who the stars are, where we need improvement, why we lost the superbowl and I actually watch games of other teams. As mucch as I hate to admit it, the Patriots have more fanboys than any other team in the league.

How did everyone else end up supporting their teams?

For me, the first ever NFL game i saw was the Superbowl in 00. Suppose i could have ended up a Rams fan but Titans had a good ring to it.

When I was a kid there was no NFL on TV or in the news, I only saw references to it in movies or US sitcoms etc. When I found books about American football in the library they were usually old, written when the Packers were the best team, so I followed the Packers. Plus Vince Lomabrdi was Italian.
When the ABC started showing NFL late night with Don Lane, I still followed the Packers, even though they were crap. :d
Funnily enough, when they had their 1996 Superbowl season, I didn't see any games cause fckin Channel 9 had taken the rights from the ABC, and buried the highlights show at 3am.:x

Among the coaches Peyton Manning plans to personally meet with during the next three days are Joe Philbin of the Miami Dolphins and Mike Munchak of the Tennessee Titans, according to sources.
His meeting with Munchak is expected to take place no later than Wednesday.
Munchak also will be joined by a select few Titans offensive staff assistants. Munchak, a Hall of Fame guard, was a teammate of Manning's father, Archie, during the 1982 and 1983 seasons with the Houston Oilers.
Manning also starred at the University of Tennessee, leading to his first name becoming a popular choice for newborns in the state. His wife is from Memphis, and Manning already knows the Titans' facility a bit, having practiced against Tennessee a few years ago when the Colts came to town for some joint practices.
"I want Manning," Titans owner Bub Adams told The Tennessean on Sunday. "I'd love to see him in Titan blue after watching him so many years with the Colts. ... I want him. I am ready to do what it takes to get him aboard, and I think he'd be the guy to get us into the playoffs."

Tbh, I think Mario Williams will be more sought after than Peyton. Manning might be the star player with the big name, but Williams can benefit a lot more teams.

I started supporting the Packers after watching the NFL for a couple of years and researching the way the club was run and the community environment promoted by the team, not to mention their style of play from the 09 season onwards has been impressive and great to watch.

Brandon Marshall to the Bears for 2 3rd round draft picks.
Why would Miami offload their best receiver when trying to lure Manning?

Vincent Jackson to the Buccaneers for 5years 55 mill.

Good pickup by Chicago. Giving Cutler another target to hit, and a talented one at that.

I was hoping we'd make a big money play for Jackson. Best WR free agent for me. Good signing for Tampa Bay.

Garcon joins the redskins on a 3 year contract.

The Bears are absolutely fucking laughing at the deal for Marshall. That's comic gold from the Dolphins, what the fuck is wrong with them?
