The Falcons did well to tie Kaepernick down in the first half, but failed to hold up the edge on Gore in the second half.

Ravens do it for Ray. They're going to New Orleans.

And Brady suffers his first ever loss after leading at half time at home.

That second half was as bad as the first half vs the 49ers. Dire and horrible to watch. Credit to the Ravens, definitely didn't think they'd play at that high a level and I wasn't that impressed with them in the 2nd half of the season. But they were streets ahead of us tonight. Talib's loss was massive for us, most decisive moment of the game. Coverage fell apart in the 2nd half. Everyone needs to look at themselves after that loss.

Harbaugh vs Harbaugh in the Superbowl then. I wanted the Falcons to win, but should be awesome to see two brothers go up against each other for the title.

Flacco and Boldin were awesome in the second half. Ravens had something like 5 20+ yard gains in the third quarter.

I couldn't make out any of that. Is it really that hard for people to edit the video they're trying to upload to youtube instead of recording it on their phone?

So in a couple of weeks time, either Colin Kaepernick or Joe Flacco are going to be able to call themselves Superbowl champions.
The Mayans were right, just 6 weeks early.

I said last year that the Niners had a good team but they wouldn't make it with Alex Smith at QB. Kaepernick is only a small step up, but their O-line is that good and he's been given that long to study up that he's made a huge difference to the cohesiveness of their offence.

Joe Flacco is in the form of his career, and the idea of him winning a ring is still repulsive.

The Falcons running game let them down. They had the lead and couldn't run the clock. They only had 81 rushing yards all game and went 3.5 YPA. For a team to have TWO 100 yard receivers and still not get a win is tragic.

Ryan threw for 271 yards from 5 drives in the first half and just 125 from 5 drives in the second. Likewise, they only ran for 46 yards in the first half and 35 in the second half. As we've seen with the Packers, you can't win big games without a running game to manage the clock and that second half production killed them. They had just 9 of their 27 first downs in the second half.

Nice to see Ray Lewis retire a champion. The most passionate player I've ever seen.

That power outage very nearly fucked over the Ravens. Flacco was immense.

An appropriate way for Ray Lewis to go out. The man was a champion, regardless of what some people think of his off-field aberrations.

That power-outage was killer. It was almost like the Niners were at home at Candlestick  It was a quality comeback by the niners and it looked like they were just going to run over the top. Putting up the bulk of those points while Ngata was off the field just showed how key he is to the Ravens D-line. It'll be interesting to see how the Ravens back it up next year, but it's hard to argue Flacco hasn't earned a new deal in Baltimore.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8951703/charles-woodson-released-green-bay-packers
Quote:
The Green Bay Packers released veteran defensive back Charles Woodson, the team announced Friday.
Carl Poston, the agent for Woodson, first told NFL.com that the club would be releasing his client.

"They're getting ready to release him. It's part of the business," Poston said. "I just talked to him. He sounds like he has a lot of football left. He'd like to play for a contender, win another Super Bowl."

Woodson was set to make $9 million in 2013 and would've counted for $10 million against the Packers' salary cap.

Charles Woodson, the 2009 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, was released by the Green Bay Packers on Friday.
Woodson, who signed a five-year deal before the 2010 season that was worth as much as $55 million, missed nine games last season because of a broken right collarbone but played in two playoff games. He moved from cornerback to safety last season because of diminishing cover skills.

"We had a good run," Woodson told ESPN 540 in Wisconsin via text message.

Woodson was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2009 and the Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1998. He spent the first eight years of his career with the Oakland Raiders, who drafted him out of Michigan with the No. 4 overall pick.

He's the only player in NFL history with touchdowns off interceptions in six straight seasons, a feat he pulled off from 2006-11, and leads the league with nine touchdowns off interceptions since '06.

Woodson was productive for the Packers, but they have some tough decisions to make this offseason to manage the salary cap. Woodson had a year left on his lucrative deal and linebacker A.J. Hawk is under contract next year for a team that probably wants to give long-term deals to receiver James Jones, linebacker Clay Matthews and defensive tackle B.J. Raji because each of the relatively young standouts potentially could be free agents following next season.

Despite his age and recent injury, Woodson likely will be an in-demand free agent. He was injured last October but bounced back in time to defend two passes in the playoffs.

"Charles has been a stud in this league for 15 years, so whenever he's on the field with us, he's always a huge threat," Hawk said in January. "Not only is he a threat to make huge plays throughout the game, but quarterbacks, I think they know where he's at every single play. He seems to know what receivers are running before they do. And I think he has an intimidation factor as well."

Woodson had a career-high nine interceptions in 2009, picked off seven passes in 2011 and made one interception in seven games during last year's injury-shortened season.

The 1997 Heisman Trophy winner led Michigan to the 1997 national championship and has donated more than $2 million to the University of Michigan Mott Children's Hospital and Women's Hospital, where he supports pediatric clinical research. With the Packers, he was a leader as one of the best players on the team and as a mentor to younger players.

"He's like a big brother to all of us," former Green Bay safety Nick Collins once said.

I hope this is a release and resign on lesser dealer type thing. He's been a great mentor for our young DB's.

It'll be sad to see him go if we don't re-sign him. He's a legend of the team and HoF bound for sure. You couldn't ask for more from a professional these days.

I dunno whether they'll re-negotiate the deal or not. But freeing up 9m in cap room could allow us to keep both Finley and Jennings. So even if we lose him we're keeping two key offensive players. And I'm sure a team like TB or Tennessee will make him a better offer than we're willing to make.

It could also mean that we trade up our first two picks (sweetening them with third round picks) to take a safety and Guard and get our most pressing shopping done early and then spend our 4th round pick on a WR or ILB.

Kansas City have come to an agreement with San Francisco to trade their second round pick (33 overall) in 2013 and a conditional pick in 2014 in return for Quarterback Alex Smith.

Terrell Suggs: Teams hate Patriots
Terrell Suggs says he isn't the only one who despises the New England Patriots.

Joining "The Big Show" on WEEI, Suggs said he "guarantees the other 31 teams hate the New England Patriots." The Baltimore Ravens star also said he doesn't feel the Patriots "respect anybody."

Suggs added that he feels that players who have played for the Patriots divulge stories of what's wrong with the organization, though he wouldn't offer details.

"The NFL is not very big," Suggs said on WEEI. "You think we don't talk to guys that have played for the New England Patriots, that have been on the New England Patriots that have been like, 'Oh, it's been like this.'

"It ain't just me. Why did Bart Scott say the same thing? You think it's just us? You think it's just got something to do with us? No. This is because we have inside information. We know."

Suggs also stood by comments and explained why he called the Patriots "the most arrogant p------ in the world" after the Ravens defeated New England in the AFC Championship Game this past January en route to winning the Super Bowl. Suggs took another jab at the Pats after the title game, telling them to "have fun in the Pro Bowl."

"Do I apologize for what I said? No. Do I mean what I said? Yeah," Suggs said. "Could I have worded it a little better? Probably, but the fact of the matter is you can't really consider it a rivalry because you have a few more championships than we do, but this has been steaming for a while."

Suggs brought up how the Patriots acted in 2007 when the teams met as why he doesn't like them. He also said the NFL took extra measures to accomodate Tom Brady after his season-ending knee injury in 2008.

"There was the whole invention of the Brady rule," he said. "Years before, I hit Drew Brees and I accidentally tore his knee up. No rule was made. Of all the quarterbacks in the NFL who got their knees blown out when they got hit -- Carson Palmer got his knee blown out -- but then one guy got hit and changed the whole rule for the NFL?"

Bad blood between Suggs and Brady isn't anything new.

In 2010, a season in which Brady was named NFL MVP, Suggs said he voted for Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick over Brady for the Pro Bowl. He also called Brady's three Super Bowl titles "questionable" because of the "tuck rule" game in 2001 and the Spygate scandal that surfaced in 2007.

Couldn't care a rats ass what Suggs thinks. I don't care if everyone hates us.

I love it how he says players have problems with the organisation, but won't name them (fair enough) or their problems.

The Chiefs could do worse than Smith. Solid QB, very efficient as well.

If he started naming names he'd find himself on the outer with a lot of players. They'd just stop talking to him. At least keeping anonymity it just looks like he's running his mouth.

This year just 8 teams have used their franchise tags on players.

Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee - $2.977 million
Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle Branden Albert - $9.828 million

I guess that's goodbye to one of Jennings/Finley for the packers.
