I'm sick of people laying into him. Yeah he didn't have a great game and was at fault for the first goal, but what do people expect him to do when we have no possession.

I expect our captain and one of the worlds best player to go get the ball esp being a center mid, obviously the whole Barcelona thing got to him and he bottled it

 at RVP's twitter

I'm also sick of people acting as if they know what is going on in Cesc's head.

Do you expect him to perform some kind of miracle and beat Barcelona all by himself. Barca were out of this world this morning and there was no way Cesc could do anymore.

He was playing injured ffs.

Well you seen to act like YOU know whats going on in hes head, obvisily u didnt watch last weeks soccer am they interviewd him, - fav football ground - nou camp, fav player growing up - pepe gridola, fav childhood memory - going to nou camp with hes dad, so its normal that on hes return there he would have a bit of trouble esp with all the links with him and barca,

We made barca look good cause we sat back and done fuck all, look what happened when we went up the field we scored a goal who know ay,

im sorry whos more qualified on injuries? you or the arsenal staff? if they say he was right to play then he was right to play

Cesc himself said he was playing injured ffs.

He said he felt a twinge after about 15 mins but played through the pain.

What you mean look what happened when we went upfield. What? Got a lucky own goal? Without Theo we were always going to sit back, and Rosicky playing ahead of Shava proved that. Would have been a completely different game had Theo played.

Lets get this straight, we didn't make Barca look good, they do that pretty well themselves.

Walcott was shit at the Emirates for the majority, though.

Just sayin'.

I hope you don't play like that in the EPL. Someone has to stiff the Mancs, for fuck's sake.

It may not have been Walcott's best game but he was still causing problems and driving the LB back. Nasri is probably the only one with the pace to come close to what Walcott does.

As for playing like that in the EPL, no one has to worry about that because a game against Barca is probably the only time you'll see Arsene adopt such a defensive minded game plan.

Arsenal were so bad they made history

By ANTONY KASTRINAKIS

ARSENAL have become the first Champions League side to have NO shots at goal during a game.

That damning fact has emerged for Arsene Wenger's side following their 3-1 defeat at Barcelona on Tuesday.

Stats gurus Opta have kept detailed records for eight years and the Gunners have recorded a miserable new low.

An Opta spokesman said: "There have been 981 Champions League games since 2003-04 and Arsenal are the first of 1,962 sides not to manage a shot of any form in a match since then."

It is an amazing statistic which confirms Arsenal's lack of ambition - before and after having Robin van Persie sent off for time-wasting in the second half.

Wenger tried to blame Swiss ref Massimo Busacca for the defeat after Van Persie's controversial 55th-minute red card.

But Barca's ex-Liverpool star Javier Mascherano told Wenger to stop being 'stupid' - and to give Barca the praise they deserve for their display.

Mascherano said: "It was very strange to me that it was 1-1 at one stage even though they didn't have a shot.

"Wenger knows how the game went but defeat is tough and nobody wants to be out of the competition.

"Our team has not achieved as much as it has thanks to the refs, we can't be hypocrites or stupid. Barca win because they play well not because of the refs.

"Wenger has every right to his opinion but the stats say that it would have been very unfair if we hadn't qualified."

Arsenal's only effort on target came from a Barca player Sergio Busquets, whose own goal just after half-time gave the visitors hope.

Also forgot that we were the first team in EPL history to be up 2-0 in the 80th minute and lose:lol:

Well I'd call 3 points off the top with a game in hand a positive stat.

I'd also call 11 games unbeaten in the League a positive stat.

The best away record in the league is a positive stat.

Considering some of the crap said about our defence I'd call having the 3rd best defence in the league a positive stat.

Szczesny to see specialist over finger injury

By Giuseppe Muro

Wojciech Szczesny will see a specialist to discover the full extent of the finger injury he picked up against Barcelona and will be out of action for “a while”.

The goalkeeper had to be replaced after just 18 minutes at the Nou Camp on Tuesday and Arsène Wenger revealed on Friday that he not only dislocated a digit but may have damaged tendons.

Szczesny is definitely out of Saturday’s FA Cup trip to Old Trafford and Wenger admits he does not know how long he will be without his No. 1.

With Manuel Almunia the Club’s only recognised fit goalkeeper, the manager says he is looking into the possibility of an emergency loan. But conceded he is yet to contact the Premier League.

“Szczesny has a dislocated finger with a tendon problem,” said Wenger. “We need the assessment of the specialist to see where we go from here.

“He had a scan last night. He is out for a while, for how long? I couldn’t tell you.”

Fabianski and Szczesny injured, Mannone and Shea out on loan, that only leaves Martinez and McDermott as the only two fit keepers at the club behind Almunia, can we recall Mannone?

Mannone is injured anyway, as is Martinez. We've called Shea back from loan and he'll be on the bench for Saturday. After that Wenger has said he's going to look at an emergency loan while Szczesny is out.

In other team news, Cesc is out for the weekend and maybe WBA but that's it. RvP is fit for this weekend, and Song is still out. Good news is Wenger has said he will play his strongest possible team.

Interveiw with B52, Bendtnar

Manchester United away in the cup. Do you fancy your chances?
Well, we know it’s going to be very difficult to win there, but we’re really fired up for it. I promise you that.

What would it mean to Arsenal to finally win a trophy after the way the Carling Cup Final ended?
As you can imagine, we were all very disappointed after the Carling Cup Final loss. But it’s made us even more determined going into the match at Old Trafford. Since I’ve been at the club, we’ve not won a trophy. But I really think we can win one this season, and once we do, I’m sure we’ll go on a roll. We have a lot of players who are very hungry for their first trophy at Arsenal. We have to put what happened against Birmingham at Wembley behind us and learn from it. We have to move on.

Will Arsenal’s lengthening trophy drought ever end?
Ha ha, yes of course! People will say 'Arsenal say that every year', but for me personally, I really feel this could be our year. We’re ready to win. If we could get that first trophy, it would add to our belief that if you work hard and play well, you get your rewards. I think we would smell blood and use that to win more trophies.

So you’re up for the cup. But what about the Premier League title?
The title race is nowhere near over, and we’re very much still involved. There’s no doubt about that. We have to just keep going and not let it affect us when things go wrong because we know we are good enough to do it. When we drew 4-4 at Newcastle after leading 4-0 for instance, it seemed like a terrible result for the club. But then Manchester United lost at Wolves later that evening and our result didn’t look quite so bad. That Wolves win was a really good result for us, as it changed our whole mood. We will keep going and believing. We firmly believe we could end up with the double this season.

You’ve had a stop-start season due to injury. Do you see yourself staying at Arsenal?
I’d like to, but I want to play football. I have great, great feelings for the club and I want to stay and make us successful. I have confidence I can score goals, but maybe in the summer if I haven’t played as many games as I’d like to, I will have to re-evaluate my situation. To achieve the big goals I have set myself and do the things I want to do in the game, I have to play and I have to score goals. But for now, all I am thinking about is winning trophies for Arsenal, starting with the FA Cup.

So the FA have confirmed that if we draw today the replay will be next Friday and then the WBA game will be moved to the end of the season. Means a draw tonight may not be such a bad result.

It's WBA away from home with who have been a hell of a lot better since Hodgson took over.I'd rather have a cup replay than have key players missing and risk losing ground on Utd.

There are some pretty funny rumours that we are apparently looking to sign a keeper who's a free agent and not a loan signing. This has of course led to rumours of us signing Crazy Jens

EDIT: Turns out those rumours are actually genuine(if there is such a thing.)

In fairness, this is the same Roy Hogson who couldn't defeat Arsenal at home with a highly superior Liverpool squad.

So far Wolves have taken three top six scalps and nearly torn two other teams a new one. Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool, City and Spurs have all been given a wake-up call by them. Not to mention what West Ham did to us or United in the League Cup, or that West Brom have already beaten Arsenal...
