44 goals from 178 combined appearances. Hardly a stunning strike rate is it? Considering how often Van Persie gets injured, you have to wonder whether it's really worth Arsenal keeping with him as first choice, and not looking into a less injury prone striker.

That stat is a little misleading considering most of them are either, play in other positions or have hardly played any major minutes since January. So the goals have slowed down a bit with the appearances always increasing. So 44 goals isn't to bad.

As for Van Persie, the only way I can see him not being first choice is if he gets shifted out wide or we change formation and he plays as a second striker, because whenever fit he's first choice.

If we buy say Benzema I can see him maybe being shifted out to the left, and then if we sell Cesc, Nasri would then move into the middle.

Who cares if City want Fabregas, the only club he'll leave us for is Barca simple as that.

Well that's where he was at his best in Marseille and with the way we set up our midfield now it's set up perfectly for him.

You can get rid of my bet now sydcro

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

So some good news in an other wise pretty shitty week with Arsene confirming that Pat Rice will be staying on for at least next season.

Also some rumours around that Bayern are willing to offer 30m for Nasri, and I have to say with him in the last year of his contract and not signing a new one yet I'd happily take 30m for him and put that into buying Eden Hazard.

It's a case of when it rains, it pours! That game today against Villa typified everything that has been Arsenal this season. The performance, the setbacks, the refereeing (for me it's gotten to a point whereby every game, I'm consigned to expecting absolutely the worst possible decision to come all the time, so nothing seems to faze me anymore), the last minute throwing on of strikers, the cramping of field and space, the lack of forward motion and thrust that we are known for.

It's all come crashing down and I'm very dissapointed at what's been another disappointing season.
Yes, this little post-season wrap has come one round early, but next week I won't have my eyes on an Arsenal game(haven't missed one by way of not bothering for 8 years now).

Really, I wouldn't be getting rid of Nasri, when he's played he's been huge for us!
You know, it all really depends on the cleanout, if any (I'm predicting there will definitely be some change), and what players stay and go. Clearly our formation is a topic of debate too, we simply have a lopsided squad.

Problems aplenty, where to start mending?

So Wenger came out a while ago and said that finishing 2nd wasn't a problem. Surely finishing 4th would be?

I'd only sell Nasri if he doesn't sign a new contract, if he doesn't want to sign one this summer well then he can fuck right off as far as I'm concerned and Wenger will no doubt look to sell him if he doesn't re-sign.

Well where do we start meddling, I'd get another defender, another midfielder and another striker, and that's before selling. I'd then sell Arshavin and bring in a replacement, sell Bendtner, bring in a replacement for Nasri if sold and bring in a replacement for Cesc if sold.

Well that's a fair call indeed, if he doesn't show his intention and commitment to the cause, I'd be more than happy to see him go. But before him, I'd have other players on my list of potential outs. Again, it would really depend on who the first player is that we let go, because really, that can define the forward thinking and plans for signing a replacement, and the type of player we need to fit into a certain role.

We've been calling out for years now on big figures (mentally and experience wise), to shore up that spine of our team.
Str-Central Def Mid-Cen Half-GK
The order in which we go about making signings and letting players go is not important. The fact is, us fans want to see our calls heeded, and for Wenger to keep his job he needs to shake up the squad. If these owners are fair dinkum, then we shall be allowed to spend where necessary to attain those key positions, then sell where necessary. Lets see some action, too much talk and faltering hope.

On a happier note, was very nice seeing big Thommy V back there tonight! :)

Seeing TV back was excellent and was good to see him play very well after so long out.

I think the hardest position to buy for is upfront because us as fans have no idea if Wenger is going to persist with 1 upfront or 2 and because of that we have no idea who we could even be linked with.

I have a feeling that if Cesc leaves we might go back to a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 with RvP playing just off a front man in a roving kind of role.

The other positions are easier, we need a strong CB who is an excellent leader, and that's why I'd go for Mamadou Sakho, and we need another DM, and now with West Ham relegated I would do whatever we have to to get Scott Parker. Only other player I'd buy is Eden Hazard regardless of whether Arshavin leaves, and then anyone else we buy will depend on who leaves.

Take this however you want but Andrei Arshavin has apparently re-signed his property lease in London for another year.

Following on from that, apparently Nasri has bought a new flat.

Reports saying we've formally approached Hazard too - guess it comes down to if Arsene will stump up the cash, because he'd probably choose you if given both options.

We seem to be sharing a lot of targets. Cahill, Jones, Parker, Hazard off the top of my head.

Also comes down to whether Lille will sell him or if he wants to leave this season. Now that Lille have all but won the title and will be in Champions League next season he might decide to stick around another season.

As for us stumping up the cash, if Nasri leaves Wenger will 100% do whatever he has to to sign Hazard.

Yeah, but nobody cares what Denilson thinks :P. Of course he will criticize Arsene if he doesn't get game time.

Even so, I can't tell you what's going on in the players heads.
