Maybe Eisfeld is good mates with Gotze and will tap him up for us :)
Gervinho+Vermaelan= Tap up Hazard Per+Eisfeld= Gotze ;)
But then again, we're not Barcelona.

No, not that one, a young player by the name of Thomas Eisfeld. I was thinking Moritz Leitner when you said '19 year old (that's not Gotze)'. Edited by gooner4life_8: 31/1/2012 11:25:27 PM

Really hope this talk about Arshavin and Anzhi is true, but only if we get a replacement in. The good thing is we don't have to rush the Arshavin thing since we have till Feb 24 to sell him to a Russian club, but it's obviously vital that we sign a replacement, because Ox, Walcott and Gervinho just isn't enough.

So we havent got a replacement in for Arshavin (if he leaves)
Gervino,Oxlade-Chamberlain,Walcott,Park,Benayoun are our wing options. Van Persie,Chamakh and Henry upfront.
Would it of killed Wenger to spend 10 mil on Podolski? Who cares if we can get him cheaper in the Summer. We needed him now.

Podolski would've cost a lot more than 10m and wouldn't have helped us now since he's out injured. Not buying anyone means Arshavin won't be going anywhere until at least the summer, especially with Ryo going on loan to Bolton.

Btw, it would of been totally unfair on the lad if we had of pushed him out the door to Anzhi. Hopefully in the Summer Transfer window Zenit can raise the funds to nab him.

Quote: Thomas Eisfeld completes move to Arsenal Attacking midfielder Thomas Eisfeld has completed a move to Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund on a long-term contract. The 19-year-old has shown significant promise at youth level with the Bundesliga club, catching the eye of the Gunners’ scouting network with six goals and six assists in his 12 appearances for the Under-19s this term. Eisfeld, who was part of Dortmund’s ‘BVB Academy’ for seven years and can play in a variety of positions, has featured at youth level for the German national team, captaining the Under-15s side. He becomes the latest in a series of players to make the switch from Borussia Dortmund to north London, following in the footsteps of Tomas Rosicky and Jens Lehmann. After completing his move to the Gunners, Eisfeld said: “I feel very proud to have signed for Arsenal. This is a great club, with many great players, and I’m so happy to be joining Arsenal. "It’s a real honour to be team mates with the great players at Arsenal, and also training everyday with players like Tomas Rosicky - who I grew up watching play at Dortmund. I will give it everything I have here and do my best to make the manager, players and fans happy. "I would also like to thank Borussia Dortmund, where I played for the last seven years, for everything they have done for me. I had a great time there, and there were many wonderful coaches who helped me get to where I am today." Arsène Wenger said of the signing: “Thomas is a player we have liked for some time. We’ve watched him closely this season, where he has excelled for Dortmund’s youth team. "He is young but has proven to us that he can play, that he has the attitude and technical ability to be a valuable addition to our squad. We’re very pleased to welcome him to the Club and look forward to his contribution in the coming seasons.” http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/thomas-eisfeld-completes-move-to-arsenal

I'm 99% sure his contract situation is the same as Theo and Robin, he will be into the last year this summer. So he will be off in the summer for sure I think. I don't think he'll be off to Anzhi either, don't think he's to fond of them. Zenit coming in for him in the summer wouldn't surprise me at all.

This is it... Last chance saloon.
Arsene's inactivity in the transfer window has said we can claim 4th and/or win the FA Cup/CL with what we have. Maybe he's right...
However, if by the end of May none of this eventuates it's on Wenger and the Board must act. There are tons of hungry or even established managers out there that would love to have a chance to manage with the resources Arsene's had.
I will say nothing more of Arsene's position as Manager until the end of the season. I really hope he delivers cos I dont want to usher him out the back door after all he's done... but as the old saying goes - well what have you done for me lately? For 7-8 seasons - not much.

Aaron Ramsey is class; but his form has dipped and he needs a few weeks out of action I reckon. It's natural, he's just a kid and it's his first full season; difficult to be too harsh on him. We usually rely on a bit of RVP magic to get us through the day and we were just a few inches away from a 2-0 win. We are a one man team, of course. At least we didn't concede!!

Honestly, I would've started Arshavin ahead of Ramsey in behind RvP tonight.

I don't think Ramsey has the flair to play behind RVP. Would rather see Wilshere behind him and Ramsey alongside Song with a bit of rotation with Arteta. I still think Ramsey has got a real talent.

There's no doubt Ramsey has got real talent, but he is clearly tired and is playing like absolute shit. How he is constantly starting I will never know, especially when you've got Rosicky who has in the past few weeks played some of his best games for Arsenal.

I still think Ramsey has got a real talent. Ramsey is more talented then Wilshere imo. What Rambo needs right now is a rest for more then 1 game. This is his first full season since injury, so he is definitely not going to be consistent, that said, Ramsey is our Cesc replacement and will need time.

The Club can confirm Jack Wilshere has a small stress fracture to his right foot, however it is not accurate to state he has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
The injury is in a different area to his previous surgery, and it will be reassessed in around two weeks time by our medical team and medical experts who have worked together throughout Jack’s recovery.
This is a recognised complication of a complex rehabilitation process and, of critical importance, Jack’s initial injury is recovering well.
I agree with Sydcro on Ramsey, I would have started Rosicky tonight.

What's to wow at, Ramsey is a bigger talent than Wilshere. Both incredibly talented, but Ramsey has just that little bit more. I think people forget just how outstanding he was before the injury. Also easy to forget that this is only his first full season since coming back.

Wilshere right now but I reckon Rambo has got more raw talent. It's a matter of developing that. I know we've said it before but with Wilshere, Ramsey, Frimpong and THE OX we've got a pleasant future to look forward to. That said though, I don't want to sound like 'this time next year' again like those silly scousers. Sean (sleel) mate, I dunno what your problem with Mertesacker is at the moment, I think we'd all agree he was a bit shite for a few weeks but he's really come into his own. You're biggest argument against him was that he got outjumped by Rooney once or twice, one of the most athletic players on the planet. Oh and about 70 odd caps for Deutschland means nothing right? Let's not forget Koscielney was poor last season and he's probably one of the best centre halves in the league right now, I'm willing to be patient. It takes time for defenders to adapt to England. Kompany has only laid claim to his status as the best defender in England this season, I think even Vidic was in Rio's shadow for a season or two from memory; although don't quote me on that.

Sorry lads but there is no way Ramsey is more talented than Wilshere. Too inconsistent, and even when he does play well still doesn't have as much affect on the team as Wilshere. Mertersacker also got out jumped by Mark Davies against Bolton who is about half his height. Fowards walk past him as well and he either clips their heels or tugs at the shirt as we saw against United when he tried to bring Welbeck down and for the Bolton game I think it was Davies again actually went past him and he tried to haul him down. On another note Bolton should have had a pen for the foul near the end can't remember who it was though. Edited by sleel6: 3/2/2012 12:18:47 PM

If Shawcross hadn't smashed Ramsey's leg he would be far and away ahead of Wilshere in terms of standing in the first team, and just development in general. Don't get me wrong, I love Jack to bits, but Ramsey is a much more complete player.
As for Mertesacker, he was average earlier this season, but in the last few weeks he's been great, especially against United and Bolton. He may not have the pace, but he makes up for that with how well he reads the game.
As for the penalty, seen them given but it would've been soft considering Mark Davies had already started throwing himself to the ground before any contact was made. And considering Mark Davies should've been sent off Bolton can't really complain to much I don't think.

So good news everyone. Manuel Almunia, injuries permitting, will not be playing another match in an Arsenal shirt. He's been left out of the 25 man squad for the league to make room for Thierry. Now means the only way he can play is in the FA Cup or Champions League which I can't see happening.
