Any story about such and such owner giving a manager x amount of money for transfers is almost always a load of shit. ESPECIALLY when its Kroenke. I hate how Wenger never criticises him. Too loyal for his own good. It's the same story with every club. Whenever a club is struggling a but there's always stories about the manager getting a 'transfer war chest' to spend in the summer. As for Wenger criticising Kroenke, why would he. He'd be stupid to do that. In fact why would any manager come out with anything critical about the owner of the club, what purpose would that serve exactly.

I was about to use Sir Alex as an example and then saw this post. The purpose it has served for Ferguson is getting the money for big transfers. Whenever he questions them in the media a few days later he gets the cash to do big transfers. The other purpose is to protect your own image. Lots of managers criticize their owners for giving them lack of funds. Wengers shuts up and lets people think it's all just him wanting to be conservative. He never even mentions the owners when under critisism. First time he's come close to doing this was a month or two ago where he finally alluded to the budget he has to keep. That's the first we've ever heard from his mouth about his conservative spending having anything to do with the owners.

As for the Ferguson example, he probably would've got that money to spend anyway  So you say lots of managers come out criticise their owners, got any sources to back that up? Any articles from reputable sites with direct quotes from the manager, none of this "A source close to the manager" bullshit.

Relax mate. It's obviously irregular for a manager to come out and directly criticise their board/owners but it does happen. It's more often indirect complaints about lack of transfer budget or lack of support. I could find lots of examples of failing desperate managers doing this but this is an argument over nothing so I wont bother.
I was just making the small insignificant point that Wenger never defends himself and takes all of the blame for the clubs shortcomings on himself. Fergie always indirectly directs the blame onto the ManU powers that be. I'm not criticising Wenger, actually the opposite, it makes him loyal.

Arshavin has gone to Zenit on loan, guessing with the idea of making permanent.

Will be sad to see him go, always had a soft spot for Shava, but probably for the best in the end. Although questions do have to be asked as to why this deal is being done now, and not a month ago when we would've had a chance to bring someone in.

Ljungberg's walking in from the car park, late inclusion to the XI?

Yossi starting :S Odd one that. He struggled to impose himself in big games for us... Oxlade would have been a better option imo.

I'm not so surprised that Ox isn't starting, more surprised that it's Yossi and not Gervinho replacing him in the XI

I don't even know where to start...
Credit to every single player. I havnt seen that sort of hunger and determination for a while. Especially after going 2-0 down, also taking into account the last 2 results.
And fuck me, Rosicky! What a performance, he was massive. I can't really say anything else too much adrenaline :d

I really had a good feeling about the result after spurs scored within the first 5 minutes... not sure why?

Only 7 points behind them now. A win for us next weekend and a loss for them against United and it's only 4 points. Just imagine if we got 3rd with the fucking season we've had

KenGooner_GCU wrote:tried to embed it but it wouldn't work haha FOREVER IN OUR SHADOWEdited by KenGooner_GCU: 27/2/2012 02:49:33 AM Bit premature don't you think? I remember last year when a win would have put you top (2-3 at Emirates). When we won (somehow) everyone said we shouldn't get carried away. With Liverpool on the back of winning a trophy I think you'll need another commanding performance next weekend. Its also amusing seeing the petulant gunners I was talking about last night raiding spurs fan pages. I have a good one: "I'd give a high 5 2 any spurs fan right now."
