So we should disregard those '33 years': Anfield '89, Charlie George on the Wembley turf, 1979... It's our away kit, it's our tradition; it's what local gooners want and that's how it should be. We've had that away kit since '69 and it's now intrinsic with Arsenal. As a matter of fact, a lot of Arsenal fans see blue kits as unlucky; not sure why though.

I don't care what Arsenal wore after the first world war, in the first match ever, even in the fifties: We're red/white, yellow/blue. How hard is that to stick to? You can pull as many statistics out of your arse as you like, I'm not buying it; it's not Arsenal.

There is a tradition in our away kit, we are the Arsenal. There is a tradition in our club but it's sadly not followed.

Hello

I can only think of AC Milan before I'm struggling to think of a club that stick to their away kit colours as they do to their home colours. It's just the way it is these days, sorry but deal with it.

Personally I really hope we end up with the redcurrant and black/navy hoops kit. I'd never buy an Arsenal kit again because it's just a fantastic kit. Might even see if I can find the old 07/08 third kit if we end up with the purple number instead.

Its the first one I didnt buy for ages... I hated it aswell, but I forgave after Henry scored the winner at Sunderland, that goal really turned the season around and without it we obviously wouldn't be in the Champions League.

I compromised and got an Henry '12' home edition...

And yes that is apparently Giroud's official account according to Phillipe Auclair. Also still looking good on the M'vila front.

This isn't on his twitter anymore. Must have been removed?
I think this one might be just about beyond doubt anyway with the things Arsene has said.

Just finished watching Spain vs France. Koscielny was probably their best :D Might be the first of many CB starts for France.
M'Vila was probably one of the few only other French players that wasn't totally embarrassed by Spain. Good second half in terms of passing with a couple of defence splitters.

Watching M'Vila this morning, he is obviously a good player. But I don't see what he offers that is different to what any other Arsenal players can offer. Will add depth in midfield which is important but for your sake, it better be a decent price.

To put it simply, he's the defensive midfielder we wish Song would be more often. He's not the type of player to go on those bursts forward, he will sit infront of the back four, break up play and just keep it simple. Something we really needed a lot of last season. Would also mean Song would have some more freedom which can only be a good thing.

Where does it leave Song then. From what I saw last season, he was in a more advanced role from what he usually plays but with Wilshere returning, wouldn't that push Song back into a deeper role.

I'd say we will give Wilshere plenty of time to ease back into it and not have hin starting right away. If we do get M'vila I'd go with M'vila sitting deeper with Arteta and Song ahead of him. M'vila coming in would give us a lot more options in the midfield than we've previously had.

Then we've actually got the option of rotating the midfield. Something we haven't had the luxury of doing the last few seasons.

Yurp.
We would basically have 5 players fighting for 3 spots.
Rosicky, Wilshere, Arteta, M'vila and Song.

Rosicky and Arteta are ageing, Wilshere is coming back from a long term injury, Song will probably go to the African cup of nations and two of them have been all the way through to the knock-out stages of the Euro cup.

Ramsey and Diaby are back up. Coquelin as a utility player for midfield and fullback positions. Frimpong on loan.

Doesn't seem too excessive to me at all.

Haha that's what I thought at first.
Thankfully they just changed it to every odd year instead of every even. And instead of waiting three years they fast tracked the next one for the upcoming January.

Montpellier president Louis Nicollin has apparently confirmed that Giroud will be coming to Arsenal. He confirmed that we met Giroud's release clause, but that Chamakh is not involved in the deal as was previously rumoured.

Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that France international Olivier Giroud has agreed to join the Club on a long-term contract.

The 25-year old striker completed a medical before agreeing terms at the Club’s training ground on Monday evening. The completion of the transfer is now just the subject of formal processes.

Giroud arrives from French champions Montpellier, where 21 goals in 36 league appearances made him the French league’s joint top goalscorer last season and also earned him a place in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year.

Giroud, who enjoyed a two-year spell at the Stade de la Mosson and broke into the national team in November 2011, flew to London after representing Les Bleus at the European Championship in Ukraine and Poland.

The Chambéry-born player spent his formative years in France's lower leagues, developing his game with Grenoble, on loan at FC Istres and then at Tours FC, where he played alongside Laurent Koscielny for a season before being awarded the Ligue 2 Player of the Year award in 2009/10.

Manager Arsène Wenger said: “We are delighted to have secured the signing of Olivier Giroud. He has a very good physical presence and is exceptional in the air, with a great work ethic. We are excited about Olivier joining us and he will add an additional dimension to our attacking options next season.

“He has proved that he is capable of performing at the top level with club and country, and we saw what a big influence he was in Montpellier’s championship-winning side last season. We all look forward to Olivier joining us and seeing him play in an Arsenal shirt.”

Giroud, whose contract with Arsenal will officially commence on July 1, said: “I am delighted to be here at Arsenal and to be part of one of the great teams in English football. It's a huge satisfaction to join this great club and it’s been a dream since I was young to play in the Premier League.

“I was attracted by the philosophy of football and Arsène Wenger’s 'touch' at this club. I have always admired Arsenal with its great history and reputation, and I now hope to achieve great things here. I’m very proud to be a Gunner and I will give my best for all the Arsenal fans.”

Giroud will join up with the Gunners for the Club’s pre-season preparations ahead of the new season.

Hang on, let's back this shit up. It's not even July and we've signed two 25+ year old internationals both for 10m+. What the fuck is going on

So glad we've got this done, now keep Robin and we will have one fucking awesome attacking line up.

Now to sign a midfielder and maybe a defender and we'll be set. This is amazing. We may actually go into the first game of the season with our squad set
