I understand the reasoning behind that ,but we will continue to lose talent if we don't start paying higher wages , this is football not a normal business

Wenger wrote:I see him as a centre-forward, but he has some work to do, to change his game a little bit, make runs in behind to protect the ball and move around the box. When you come from a wide position, it is not easy to do that. But he will get there. He is a fantastic finisher, but had no real opportunity Wenger on Podolski. Seems like the plan is for Podolski to play in the centre despite what many of us thought. It's Podolski vs Giroud now. Will be very interesting to see who comes up the better option in the long run. My guess would be Giroud will be the main option upfront as time goes on.

That's probably down to Van Persie's departure, but I still reckon we'll see more of him on the left with Giroud leading the line, unless Gervinho or the Ox (if he's not playing in the centre) really impresses.

Nah he's generally always been a CF for Koln as far as I know. Just a winger with the NT which I guess he's more well known for. Maybe with Bayern too. Regardless, both RVP and Henry our two greatest strikers in recent times were wingers when they joined AFC and were converted by Wenger.

 So apparently those rumours about us going in for Llorente stem from rumours about Chamakh. Apparently any move for the Spaniard would be totally dependant on Chamakh leaving, and rumours suggest he could be set for a loan move to, wait for it, Sp*rs . The idea is to get Chamakh's wages off the books for at least a year to make room for Llorente.
Rumours about M'Vila also gathering pace again after the Rennes chairman said the game yesterday was definitely M'Vila's last for the club, and with Bayern and Sp*rs seemingly out of the running it sets it up nicely for us to get in there.

In fact I'll love him forever if he goes to spurs. Not sure how solid the sources are but it sounds pretty farfetched. Also, what the hell? How many midfielders do we need? It'll never happen, but I don't know if I'll ever be able to stop laughing if we send Chamakh to Sp*rs and got Llorente in

The talk about M'vila, and our interest is understandable. He'd be a direct replacement for Song.

Yes, all quality, but M'Vila would be the only one who could really replace Song. I mean Coquelin could, but he's not ready to step up into that role permanently yet. Fact is, we could probably get by without buying a direct replacement for Song, but I'd much rather not take that chance.

Whoever wrote that must have been exceptionally high. Why the hell would Arsenal loan a player to Spurs and why would Spurs want Chamakh? But would be funny if it happened It's simple really, we want to get rid of Chamakh, or need to if you believe the Llorente rumours, so don't think we'd really care about loaning him to Sp*rs. And Sp*rs are so desperate for a striker they just may take Chamakh

Yepp, AFCAMDEN is a pretty reputable source. Sahin <3 Have always been a fan of him since his Dortmund days, and to see him playing for Arsenal will be awesome. The reported 6mil buy-out fee seems too good to be true aswell. Sahin-Arteta Cazorla One of, if not the best midfields in the prem without a doubt. Scary to think that Jack is still to come back aswell. Edited by jlm8695: 20/8/2012 10:14:31 PM

Quote: Song completes transfer to Barcelona The transfer of Alex Song to Barcelona has been completed for an undisclosed fee. Song joined Arsenal in 2005 from French side SC Bastia, initially on loan, and his move was made permanent a year later. He went on to make a total of 204 appearances for the Gunners. The 24-year-old, who played predominantly as a defensive midfielder for Arsenal, was also an able deputy in defence when required. He demonstrated his offensive qualities last season too, providing 14 assists in all competitions and scoring once. A Cameroon international, Song has represented his country in the 2008 and 2010 Africa Cup of Nations and in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He was also part of the Cameroon squad to play in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Everyone at Arsenal would like to thank Alex for his contribution to the Club and wish him the best of luck for the future. http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/song-completes-transfer-to-barcelona

Yeah, I'm not worried. Of all the things to potentially hit a snag over, that's probably the least worrying one. Apparently he had his photo shoot at Colney overnight, so unless something seriously goes wrong there should be an announcement in the next few days.
