Vaughn2111 wrote:Always tough to get points a Stoke, but tbh you can't be too impressed with 0 goals after 2 EPL games. Tbh when you've got 3 new attacking players it's no surprise. The goals will come as they gel together. Also, we started last season with 0 goals after 2 games, difference is this season we have looked about 100 times better than we did in the first two games of last season. I mean, I can't really sit here and say I'm upset with with a clean sheet and a point from a trip to Stoke. Obviously would've preferred 3 points, but considering our recent history up there it's not a bad result. Was especially happy with the way we defended, much better organised which meant Mannone only really had 1 save to make which was a shot from distance and straight at him. Also worth remembering we could/should have had a penalty for the handball from Wilkinson from a Podolski shot.

Yeah could've was my opinion because would've been almost impossible to see, but if seen it is a penalty, and maybe even a red card, actually no if it was a penalty it has to be a red card. Podolski looks great, he is so direct and has a sense of urgency when he has the ball. Cazorla again looked good, but went a bit quiet in the second half. Diaby just looks like a dear in headlights when he gets in the box, really should've done better with the opportunities he had in front of goal. I watched the 1st half - which TBH looked messy imo but as you say Podloski at least took the ball and went with forward with intent, I like his style and I feel will be the gunners saving grace through the season. Cazorla moved some good ball around, his 1st corner was a bullet into the box if only a head connected would have gone in like a misile !

Would not be surprised to see us go for Mapou Yanga Mbiwa from Montpellier. He can play anywhere across the back 4 which is obviously a huge plus, and we're apparently seriously interested in him.
Also rumours that Arsene is willing to spend a substantial amount of money(talking around 20m) on a new midfielder, but only one someone proven, apparently not willing to buy for the sake of it and will only buy if he can get someone proven and top class, and that's where I think these Cabaye rumours have come from today.

I'd take Cabaye in flash. But I highly doubt newcastle will let him go for the rumored 15m bid we're 'considering'.

Cabaye and Arteta would dominate. I know Cabaye was one of the best mid's last year in terms of tackles and interceptions IIRC. Would think he would do a btter job then Diaby.

Le professor better not panic buy, M'vila probably our best hope. I think the most crucial thing is for Giroud to start finding the net. That's what will change our season. Up the Arsenal! Strange bout of optimism probably linked with the booze in my system right now. Fucking let's have it!

i dont get why walcott would want to move. wenger has personally developed walcott, and if he left he would never get as much game time as arsene will give him. is his ego that big? Quote:Formal negotiations between Walcott’s representatives and Arsenal were held last Friday at the club’s London Colney training base, and despite further communication on Tuesday, a proposed new contract worth £75,000 a week remains unsigned. Walcott had wanted closer to £100,000 a week to move into a similar pay bracket as his fellow England internationals but Arsenal’s attitude is that the offer represents a fair improvement on his current £60,000-a-week deal. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/9504761/Arsenals-Theo-Walcott-sparks-interest-from-Manchester-City-and-Liverpool-after-rejecting-new-contract.html

Bye bye Theo. At least when he is on the pine somewhere else he will have plenty of time to write more TJ books  Oh and get them out of the Arsenal store :x . By the way I am proposing the 'e' in Theo now be a Euro symbol to symbolize another greedy wantaway.

Theo is a great footballer but not an Arsenal one. He simply cannot break through stacked defences. Moving to a team like Liverpool will be great for him. He will have a chance to exploit his pace and ability (lets face it, teams are not going to park the bus against Liverpool, no offence) and good performances will help him keep his place in the NT.
Good for us aswell because we will get a decent fee and be able to recruit a player to play out wide or promote the OX to a starter.

A club spokesmen has apparently said these rumours about talks breaking down with Theo aren't true and that negotiations are still going. I hope he sees sense and does what's best for his career and re-signs.

Quote: NextGen Series: Arsenal v Marseille - Preview Entering Arsenal’s London Colney HQ on Tuesday morning, the sense of excitement among the Club’s rising stars was tangible. It was the eve of their first game in the NextGen Series, and the dressing room was “buzzing”. Every player you asked, whether they had tasted first-team football or not in their embryonic careers, would repeat the word, the enthusiasm etched on their faces. The Club, the staff, the squad - everyone was “buzzing”. Even Arsène Wenger, with more than 30 years’ experience in the game, has admitted he will try to watch "every single game” of the elite European competition, which pits the Gunners against Athletic Bilbao, Olympiacos and tonight’s opponents, Marseille. The NextGen Series - for all intents and purposes an under-19s Champions League - offers an invaluable opportunity for the best young players in Europe to showcase their potential. And that starts this evening at Underhill. “Everyone is excited about it - it’s going to be a great experience,” Martin Angha told Arsenal.com. “This is a chance for us to show the world what we can do. [If we do well] maybe the boss will put us into the first team - there are many possibilities for us. “Flying around Europe is going to be fun, I'm sure we’ll have a few laughs and jokes. But more importantly it is good for us to travel and prepare for the games, to see what it will be like when we are in the first team. “We can learn a lot from these games. This is what the first team have to do in the Champions League, they face teams from many different countries, and we will do the same. We will have to adapt very quickly. “I just want to play as many games as I can, test myself against the best young players in the world and hopefully improve in every match. We’re all buzzing about NextGen.” Coach Terry Burton admits these are “exciting times” for his players, but warns that the tournament will pose real questions of his squad. “It is a different challenge for the players, they will be set different problems and that is all good experience for them,” he said. “They will come up against different types of players, which you hope will speed up the learning process in different areas. “It is about how you deal with those challenges. Can you cope with what the opposition throw at you, can you cause them a problem?” The tournament could also help the Arsenal players demonstrate their credentials under the watchful eye of Wenger. And that is a challenge they must take, according to Burton. “That is what it is about - you have to catch the manager's eye,” he said. “He has to know about you, and realise what you have got and what you can do. That is vital to the next stage of their development. “We can recommend players, and push them forward if they are doing well, but it helps tremendously [if he sees them do well]. In my short time here, I have seen that Arsène knows the young players, and knows what they are about. “If he sees [them play well], it gives them a better opportunity and helps with the pathway that has always been there from the youth team to the first team.” That all starts tonight against Marseille, a match that could well be the first step on the path to NextGen glory according to young Spanish defender Hector Bellerin. “We just have to play every game as if it is a final, and try to get through the group stage,” he said. “If we do the right things, we have a really good set of players coming through and we have a good chance of winning the tournament. Why not? “The likes of Jon Toral, Serge Gnabry and Kris Olsson are all really good players and they will help the team be up there among the very best. Some of them will be the ones who will make a difference in tough matches. “It would be great to play [Bellerin’s former club] Barcelona in the final! It would be a really good game, I think we would have a chance to beat them. But first we must concentrate on Marseille. We’re really, really looking forward to it.” http://www.arsenal.com/news/reserves-news/nextgen-series-arsenal-v-marseille-preview
