Olivier Giroud is delighted with his recent form - and insists he never doubted his ability.

It took the summer signing seven games before he scored his first Arsenal goal, against Coventry at the end of September. Since then though, the French international has found the net with more regularity, netting three times in his last two appearances.

The striker is happy with the way he has settled in at the Club, and warns his best is still to come.

“I feel better and better,” he said after Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Fulham. “I’m confident about my qualities. I never give up. When I didn’t score at the beginning of the season I stayed confident and always worked on my mind and my game.

“It’s not a surprise for me [his good form]. I want to play a lot of good games like tonight to succeed [and] to win a lot of games with my new club. I have to score and continue [to do so].”

Arsène Wenger’s team have won one of their last four Premier League games, and were denied victory against Fulham when Mark Schwarzer brilliantly kept out Mikel Arteta’s injury-time penalty. Giroud doesn’t blame the Spaniard for missing from the spot, and is convinced his team-mates have the character to turn recent results around.

“It’s a bad run but I think there is a lot of quality in this team. We will have better days in front of us.

“I think Mikel wanted to score because he made a penalty against us. I think he really wanted to score.

“I was confident. Some guys asked me why I didn’t take the ball but before the game the boss [has] a penalty list. It’s very difficult because MIkel was under pressure because it’s the last minute. It’s not very easy to shoot a penalty."

So glad to see him now shutting a few people up. He was outstanding on Saturday, was one of the few bright spots. Was great hearing Tony Gale bleat on about how we should've bought Berbatov instead of Giroud, only to have Giroud score a few minutes later :lol:

Tbh, that's being smart. It means he can spent the money elsewhere so he's not broke by the time he's 40.

Ought to be on loan, I think he has a future at Arsenal as one of our last out and out hard men. I really hope he doesn't leave, he's great!
