Whilst yes, they held onto the player, it shows other players that if they stick around they can threaten the club to get what they want. Same as with Rooney last year (?). Loyalty is dead when a player holds a club to ransom like Rooney, Modric and Wallcott have done.

If theo didn't re-sign then Ivan and david law and then wenger will cop the shit . We never know if this was a ploy like rooneys to slowly raise the wage ceiling at arsenal

We never know if this was a ploy like rooneys to slowly raise the wage ceiling at arsenal In the transfers I posed the question was he worth it? His wage increase means money to pay his new wages are coming from somewhere. Is it less money for a new signing? Is it coming from youth development? If it were my club i'd be concerned that money from something is being used to make a princess happy who has no loyalty to the club. I do recognise that if the club didn't cough i up, the media would be all over it saying "Arsenal is a selling club, Arsenal loses another star etc etc." Lose lose situation for me.

He isn't worth 100k a week , poldi is . Jack surely is , Theo needs to prove that he is worth it as wenger stroking his ego by playing him as a striker and and then letting him take the fk makes a mockery ,since we have Santi ,jack and mikki

Wenger must see something that I don't to be moving mountains to keep him. To me he's a winger who's inconsistent who's doing pretty well as a striker at present. Arteta should take your free kicks end of fucking story. He's got a wicked free kick. It hurt to admit that ;)

But to throw a tantrum and keep the club in limbo over it? Perhaps I do not know the whole story but to me it is reminiscent of the Rooney vs. United saga where the club was backed into a corner because a player wants more money. To me it's a lack of loyalty. Arsenal are not stupid. They offer improved contracts to players who deserve them. I don't think his performances have merited a pay increase. You may disagree but I think these negotiations have been handled unprofessionally by Theo.

Oh I agree, but at the end of the day, he is worth 100k pw at least on the market as he is English, and actually an effective footballer (mainly the English part)

It just shits me (even as a bitter rival supporter) that players hold the power to do this to the clubs they play for. Arsenal have been more than patient with the erratic Theo Wallcott.

Will always stand behind Rooney and United in that saga two years ago. Wasn't about money.

BusbyBabe wrote:Will always stand behind Rooney and United in that saga two years ago. Wasn't about money. Please excuse my ignorance but what was it about? Did he simply need a financial reminder of how valuable he is to the club. He too, like Wallcott, have really backed clubs that pay their wages into a corner. If they could afford it, i'd have loved to have seen both these players (add Luka Modric to the list) rot in the reserves teams for their actons.

Glazers were giving no transfer money to Fergie. We lost Tevez and Ronaldo. If they lost Rooney the club would have been in a rough spot. So in most peoples opinions Gill and Fergie got him to threaten the club. Deal was already done as it was magically negotiated in a day. Then suddenly the transfer money comes in, Jones, De Gea, Young. Now Kagawa, RVP, there is the ambition the club wanted from the Glazers.
Did you actually think he would go to City. If it was all about the money he would be there.

As for Poldi being worth it, Theo has shown more to prove he's worth it than Poldi has. As for where the money's coming from, it's coming from the same place money for all olur wages comes from, the TPA(Transfer Proceeds Account).

Poldi is sure worth 110k pound per week he is apparently on . A German intnl with over 100 caps is more worthy then Theo .don't get me wrong poldi needs to do more , but so does Theo . He has to basically take the games on by the scruff of the neck and try to win it on his is own .

I have no problem with theo getting what (on a open market) he's worth. Can't help but think had the club not pissed about offering him £75pw, the could have got him for less last summer (and possibly a longer deal). I reckon he'd have bitten Wenger's hand off for a £90kpw 5.5 year deal 7 months ago

Also there's a rumour around about Mario Goetze having a 30m release clause that expires in April.

So apparently Poldi is out for this one, leaving us with the same line up who faced Swansea midweek.

I don't ever want to see that first half performance again. Six points off the pace, it's just not good enough.
