Quote: Arsenal to unveil Dennis Bergkamp statue Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that a statue of Dennis Bergkamp is to be unveiled at Emirates Stadium to commemorate the Dutch striker’s huge contribution to the Gunners. Bergkamp joined Arsenal from Inter Milan in June 1995 and went on to make a total of 423 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 120 goals, during which time he treated Gunners supporters to some of the most exhilarating and skilful play by any Arsenal player ever. During Bergkamp’s 11 years with the Club, he played an integral part in Arsenal winning seven major honours, including the Invincibles’ unbeaten Premier League season of 2003/04. The statue of Dennis Bergkamp is still in its early construction phase and the unveiling is planned to take place before the start of next season. It will be located outside Emirates Stadium, and joins three other statues of Arsenal Legends currently on the Podium around the Gunners’ home, those of Herbert Chapman, Tony Adams and Thierry Henry, which were unveiled in December 2011. Dennis Bergkamp said: "First of all, I am honoured that this is going to happen. It makes me very proud. Everyone knows that I love Arsenal and that I had a fantastic time at the Club. "For me and my family it was an important period in our lives. Next to that the people were great, the team was amazing and we had a lot of success over the years. "I will do everything I can to be there when it will be unveiled. It will definitely be a special moment for me which I don't want to miss." Arsenal Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis said:“Everyone at Arsenal is delighted to be commemorating the Arsenal career of Dennis Bergkamp. It will be a fitting tribute to Dennis’ huge contribution to the Club that a statue will be on display outside Emirates Stadium in the near future. “Dennis’ quality and style of play will never be forgotten. He is a true legend of Arsenal Football Club and it’s great to think that so many Arsenal supporters and visitors to Emirates Stadium will be able to enjoy this tribute to such a great player for years to come. “Dennis and everybody at Arsenal are slightly disappointed that some images have been leaked today of the statue in its development, but this will not detract from the excitement we have for the statue’s unveiling in the coming months.” Further details regarding Dennis Bergkamp’s statue and reflections on his glittering Arsenal career will feature on Arsenal.com in the near future. http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/arsenal-to-unveil-dennis-bergkamp-statue

In other news our home match against Everton has been shifted to Tuesday April 16th due to Everton's involvement in the FA Cup. Means we now have a 10 day gap between the Derby and the 2nd leg against Bayern.

Villa apparently told he can leave Barca at the end of the season. I remember him being linked with you guys. Not really the part of the pitch your weak in, but would add some quality and depth, and probably relatively cheap.

Quote:David Ornstein @bbcsport_david Not questioning Arsenal takeover story but Kroenke has absolutely no intention to sell, is adamant he's here for long-term
David Ornstein @bbcsport_david Serious Middle East interest never advertise plans. Qatar/UAE buying together v.unlikely. Long-winded anonymous source out of character
David Ornstein @bbcsport_david Takeover experts spoken to all say valuation of £1.5bn is way over the top for Arsenal, especially if no Champions League
Thank god. Although like many I want us to splash the cash, I don;t want us to turn into City/Chelsea/PSG. On that note though, I wish Kroenke would just fuck off already. Best case scenario Usmanov takes over, actually provides the money we need and restore our club to what it was, before we go down Liverpool's route. Edited by jlm8695: 3/3/2013 12:52:36 PM

Usmanov will make us richer than Chelsea but I feel, due the time he's spent here, he'd be in a better position to understand our football club and won't do anything monumentally daft to piss off the support. I don't really see a problem turning out like PSG/City/Chelsea, the likes of Abromavich and the Arabs have stuck by their club and invested so much money into it that it will always be a big club.

I would love if usamnov buys the club . He is richer than Roman but only thing stopping him is kronke. He needs to realise arsenal is more important than hin

If Kroenke was to sell, imo, the best option would be for Usmanov to come in. I don't want any Middle East money. People go on about how shady Usmanov is, but at least we know he cares about the club, he wouldn't have stuck around so long otherwise.
That being said, can't see Kroenke selling anytime soon.

Pretty sure Usmanov owns 29% and other investors wont sell. 30% is the take over amount irrc.

Ah ok got my figures wrong . Unless the consortium give a ridiculous amount kronke won't sell. Also noted that the consortium are willing to work with usmanov if kronke does sell

Disappointed with no Poldi, adds an extra threat to our attack. However the Monreal-Cazorla link has shown promising signs, and Rambo has been nothing but incredibly effect recently.

As much as I love Poldi, I really do like Santi out wide. Has done very very well there lately.

Spurs still have to play- Stoke away, Liverpool away, Chelsea away, city at home, Swansea away, Everton home.
Not an easy run in by all accounts, although I question our quality to get as close to maximum points as possible.

The run in, in terms of top clubs left to play, for the teams in the race for the top 4
Arsenal: Everton(h), United(h) Sp*rs: Liverpool(a), Everton(h), Chelsea(a), City(h) Everton: City(h), Sp*rs(a), Arsenal(a), Liverpool(a), Chelsea(a) Chelsea: Sp*rs(h), Liverpool(a), United(a), Everton(h)
Still lots of chances for teams around us to be taking a bunch of pts off eachother.
