Horrible performance but the 3 pts is all that matters. Also good to get another clean sheet. As lackadaisical as we were with the ball, I thought defensively we were good again, Mertesacker and Koscielny once again proving why they are easily our #1 pairing.
Into 3rd now and a chance to stay there until at least next week with Sp*rs playing City and Chelsea playing Liverpool.
Speaking of our defense, we've only conceded 3 goals in our last 7 games in all competitions. No matter which way you put it that is excellent.

Anyone else think Giroud can get out of the suspension?

I agree, but I think this a tactical change not a personnel one.

I agree, but I think this a tactical change not a personnel one. I think it's a bit of both. I mean it's now abundantly clear that our best CB pairing is Per and Kos, they work better together than any other pairing this season. But will agree that most of it is tactical. You would've loved the comment from Davie Provan about how deep we were sitting and how he thought Per and Kos should push up

So if United win, will we be giving them a guard of honour next week?

It's either a guard of honour or them having the chance to win it against us. I know which I'd rather

United have done for us before, but the added problem of RVP means the club have a decision on their hands. I can guarantee any guard of honour will be met with boos and certain songs for Robin.

Oh definitely, the club being the way we are will definitely do the guard of honour, too much class not to, but the reaction from the crowd will be a lot of fun to watch

I'd roll out a red carpet for them provided they are too hung over to give a shit about the game.
3 points is the most important thing happening at the Emirates

Lots of talk about Stevan Jovetic in the last few days and that we've opened talks with Fiorentina. Also some talk about us being very interested in Rene Adler.

I would cry of joy if we get Jovetic, as for Adler, I guess Wenger is trying to get experience to teach Szczesny to be mature etc. I really feel as though we need a new Cb and a defensive midfielder, such as either of the Benders. I am not really sure who is plausible as a centreback hopeful.
Oh and if Sagna goes, we'll need a replacement.

With our performances against the big teams this season I'm not even going to pretend to be disappointed with a point. Just 3 things out of that. Rosicky has undoubtedly put himself ahead of Jack in the midfield, so much better with him on the park. And Sagna needs to be dropped for Jenkinson and lastly, we now know why Poldi doesn't get played through the middle.

9 points is a must out of our last 3 games. Any less than that and we wont make the 4.
How do we line up next week? Podolski was terrible upfront but didn't really have much of a chance to get into the game, and is definitely a better option than Gervinho.
Sagna has to be dropped, been saying it for months.

Next game I'd go with Ox on the right Theo through the middle.
Lot of people going all doomsday about our top 4 chances last night
Our last 3 games have worked out pretty well we play an already relegated QPR, Wigan 3 days after the cup final and Newcastle on the last day who could be safe and nothing to play for. We just need to win our 3 games, hope Chelsea lose against United and draw with Sp*rs and we finish 3rd.
Chelsea have to play United, Sp*rs and Everton in their last 4 games and that plus Europa League I can't see them not dropping points and we only need Sp*rs to drop pts once to finish above them if we win our last 3 games.

Especially Jovetic. Would be nice to have an experienced keeper for once. Some more of that German efficiency in defence can't hurt. Jon90 wrote:I really feel as though we need a new Cb and a defensive midfielder, such as either of the Benders. I am not really sure who is plausible as a centreback hopeful. Yes it always seems strange how whenever our problem is clearly in defence, Wenger always goes out and tries to compensate through more attacking options. Jovetic is totally understandable since he could turn out to be something special though. Hopefully he's keeping an eye for of CDM's, RB's and CB's too jlm8695 wrote:9 points is a must out of our last 3 games. Any less than that and we wont make the 4. I disagree. We're approx even with Spurs and they could start dropping points senselessly. Chelsea also have a very hard remaining fixture list including away to United! Don't forget Chelsea vs Tottenham is yet to be played so one of them will have to drop significant points.

Apparently jovetic is a done deal. Would be a great investment . Don't think we need a New cb . Tv5 is a great backup  also was it me or was rvp rattled most of the game .

People are going to disagree with me, but I'd replace Per. He is a good partner for Koscielny, because TV5 and Bosscielny tend to lose their minds occasionally and Per is very calm. I just honestly feel he is too slow and it is such a liability. Yes we really do need a defensive midfielder. I really like Arteta as a player and he has done well considering this is not his role really, but we do need a real defensive midfielder. Would kill for Vidal, don't think Juventus would sell and he wouldn't go to Arsenal aaaand Arsene would never pay the amount required. Definitely need to sort out RB as well, bacary was woeful all of last night and not even just the penalty.

Speaking of defensive midfielders, Arsene has apparently confirmed his interest in French U20 midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia from Sevilla. He joined Sevilla from Lens last summer and has played 26 La Liga games and 6 Copa Del Rey games this season.

I too thought Jovetic was done but contingeant on us making CL next season...
DM is the priority but good ones are hard to find (unless you pay heaps)
Nothing wrong with us scoring goals it's (as it has been for years) our inability to keep clean sheets that has cost us...
We're good at LB. With 1 injury we are down to bare bones at CB - bring in a young hungry CB prepared to play 10 games next season and be a back-up off the bench. Not convinced by Jenkinson (though I really want him to succeed) but our main issue is at goal keeper... I have no faith in Szeszny, Fabianski, Mannone... We desperately need a commanding figure who won't make so many mistakes...

How do you know it's coming to the end of the season?
Easy, Arsene to [insert Real Madrid or PSG here] stories are coming out  Like clockwork.
