A player who wants to play at the highest level he can? Yeah not sure we'd want that. You say he's only 22 like it's really young, when it football terms it really isn't, it may be a surprise, I know it surprised me , but Benteke has actually been around a while and made his debut way back in 2007
He probably feels as if, after the season he's had, that he would have no problem stepping up to a bigger team and with the World Cup next year probably feels this is the right time to do it.

A report around that we've agreed personal terms with Ashley Williams.

Dont think Benteke offers us anything that Giroud doesn't.
Williams would be a great signing. Dont know if we'll keep Vermaelan though if he signs.

And given Williams is a similar kind of player, the only reason they'd be making a move for him is a) to gazump someone else, or b) because they're going to look to cash in on Vermaelen.

There has been talk of us selling Vermaelen so not sure if this talk of Williams is as a replacement or as more depth. Wouldn't surprise me either way tbh. Williams is already well liked by Arsenal fans for attempting to kill RvP anyway

Dont know what to make of the rooney rumors, I imagine he'd be expensive, not a guy wenger would usually go for due to temperament and intelligence. I figure he might decline younger than most aswell.
I cant imagine immediately warming to him just because he's in an arsenal shirt.

I for one would definitely welcome him in an Arsenal shirt, one player I have always admired. Only stumbling block, I think, would be his wages.

High wages, and as BPD said, he'll decline early. He'll probably only have 2-3 'good' years left in him.

TBF, you could do far worse. It's hard to tell how he'll perform in a ST role, as he's mainly been playing deeper in recent seasons. Not to mention the non-regularity of starting.

The real question is what Arsene believes constitutes "significant".

Would Clement Grenier be considered 'significant'. Arsene wrote:We are following him, His intelligence of play pleases me. He has interesting qualities. He reminds me of Nasri.
