I saw we've been linked with Illarramendi from Real Sociedad, so I checked out a few youtube videos of him. Yes I know it's not the most accurate way to tell a player's skill level, but anyway he looks ok. He looks like a bit of a unit, with a pretty funny running style and shorts far too small. Either way, looks like we're definitely buying a defensive midfielder this window, which is good.

Happy with our run in in the last 6 games, but the 3 games before that are fucked  Also just realised that first derby on August 31 is the only time we don't have 2 'big games' in a row. Apart from that we've always got 2 or 3 big games in a row. Our March is so fucked  Stoke away, Swansea home and then Sp*rs away, Chelsea away and City home. I was just saying to a mate the other day, I bet we'll get Tottenham at home third game of the season.
Dear god am I excited about how close the Higuain deal is to going through. Really don't want to get ahead of myself though.

I wouldn't be jealous because United don't have any real need for a striker but he has always been one of my favourite strikers, he will be a great signing for whoever gets him.

There's a few news sources saying that Arsenal tried to hijack the Andy Carroll deal with a big money offer.

Would highly doubt it but you could almost imagine Wenger sitting at his desk. Just sitting back and going, fuck it, nothing else is working lets try something different

 Wouldn't put anything in those Carroll rumours considering the paper that started it was the Daily Star. Also wouldn't be any point since we have Giroud who is the same sort of striker, just better.

It seems like one of those stories that's too ridiculous not to be true though

No club is ever going to break their transfer record over Fellaini, not happening.

Hmmm... Breaking the transfer record twice for Fellaini and Higuain.
My guess is Wenger's having a mid life crisis.

Higuain+Fellaini+Prospect Am would come to about 50million in transfer fees, which when you add in wage packages which from all reports are included in our transfer budget, we get to that magical 70 million figure that's been reported. Can't see us doing it, most likely Higuain+ 1 other player 15m or less.

I will be very very very surprised if you get Higuain AND Fellaini
As it is I'm doubtful you'll get one

Shows the brilliance of Wenger's work to stay in the top four compared to his much bigger spending rivals.

The Daily Mail ran a story last night claiming that he'd signed a 150k/week deal at Arsenal. They claimed it was a 50m fee and Rooney was next on the agenda  The article read like it was written by a 9 year old Arsenal fan. Less ridiculous sources suggest that you guys are looking to rain on our parade and do a deal for Papadopoulos.

Not sure if it's just come about because of our reported disinterest in Ashley Williams.

Do you guys even need a new defender?

All depends really, probably not the most urgent need, but if Djourou doesn't stick around and goes out on loan again next season, which looks likely, we'll really only have Koscielny, Mertesacker and Vermaelen as our CB's. Then if we do decide to get a new defender all depends what we'd be looking for, someone to come in just for depth, like Williams or someone with a view to being first choice down the track.

Given you've released Squillaci wouldn't it make more sense to go for an experienced head if you're bringing in a fringe player? Especially when you've got Ignasi Miquel coming through.

I would really like Papadopoulos, the guy is literally insane. And yes I'd say we do need a new defender, while I like that Mertesacker is calm and composed, I really feel as though his lack of pace is just too dire.
