Less than 50 mil net spend in the past decade, yet still consistently competitive. I'd say he's pretty good at buying ;)

If you're not first, you may as well be 16th.

Btw, how is it 'obscurity' if you're still talking about us? That's not very obscure, is it?

I'd take consistent Champions League football and no trophies over 1 League Cup and no Champions League football for 4 seasons.

One FA cup, One Euro Super Cup, One Community Shield, One Champions League, One League cup in the last 10 years.

Arsenal have won...an FA Cup.

We've also got a league title in which we lost exactly 0 games during the league season in the last 10 years, but that's no big deal.

Would take both of them in a heartbeat. Kaka is simply a legend.

Draxler on the other hand makes more sense. Can play all across the front 3 (AML,C,R) is young, and highly talented. Is really a special player if you've ever watched Schalke play. Problem is he has apparently rejected moves from Chelsea and Madrid this transfer window, so dont see how he would join us. Maybe Boateng's arrival was to cover his loss? I can dream.

http://www.premiershiptalk.com/2013/08/30/wenger-reveals-possible-podolski-replacement/
Quote:
Arsene Wenger has revealed that out of favor Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner could step up to replace the production of recently side-lined Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski. Podolski went down with a hamstring injury that will keep him out for between eight to ten weeks, furthering Wenger’s need to bring reinforcements to the side. However, Wenger stated that Bendtner could be an internal replacement for the German striker and may be able to earn his way back to first team football with Arsenal.

“The chances for him to leave now are very small. If he doesn’t leave, prepares well and is fit, really fit, I will use him,” Wenger told reporters, according to Goal.com.

Bendtner has been linked with a permanent move away from Arsenal this summer after going out on loan the last two years, to Sunderland in 2011 and Juventus in 2012. No club has been able to sign the player this summer as Bendtner has been unwilling to sign for any club who will not continue to pay him at his current wages, which clubs have so far thought to be too high.

Bendtner was believed to be a promising player for Arsenal, signing with the club before he was 18, but never panned out to the expectations fans originally had of him. However, with the injury to Podolski, Bendtner now has another chance to demonstrate that he can be an important player for a big European club.
Seen this a few times this morning now, thoughts?

That article is hilarious  Not sure where they've got this idea of him being a replacement for Poldi since Arsene never hinted at anything of the sort. Only said that it's unlikely Bendtner will leave this window and if he's fit he will use him, probably for no more than League Cup and FA Cup games.

NB52 would be the perfect squad player if he was paid 20kpw less. Dont mind him playing in League cup games, and making the numbers on the bench if anything happens to Giroud.

Derby day cunts

Have to say I'm as pumped for this one as I have been for any in the last few years. Actually feeling pretty confident about a win and have $10 on us winning 5-2 again

The starting XI pretty much picks itself only dilemma is who comes in onto the left in place of Poldi. The logical replacement would be Santi with a midfield 3 of Jack-Rambo-Tomas, but I just get the feeling Arsene might go with Gibbs and Monreal together on that left wing like he has done a few times this season and keep together that midfield 3 of Tomas-Rambo-Santi. Aprt from that the team picks itself. Hopefully we get to see Flamini for a bit, feel if we're ahead with 15-20 to go he will definitely come on.

As for transfer news, we have a new link to former Villarreal player Jefferson Montero. Who is apparently a last resort should we fail to get our other options. There are also reports in Spain that we've agreed a combined fee of 82m euros for Ozil Benzema and Di Maria  While there is also some talk that we have agreed a fee for 1 of the 3 and now it's all down to whether the player wants to leave or not.

Also reports that we've made an offer of a 1 year loan for Kaka as a holding option should we not get our main focus. The Draxler talk is still there with reports we were going out tonight trying to get Schalke to agree to a price.

Agree with your sentiments about the derby SydCro. Pretty psyched. I hadn't thought of the possibility of playing Gibbs at LW. That might be a good move.

One day left in the window and we aren't really hearing any strong realistic rumors. Worrying, but we know how unpredictably deadline days often play out.

Our midfield will try to strangle the game, like we did against Swansea. Hopefully the ref is lenient because there will be loads of hard tackles coming in.

Tbh I really don't know how we'll line up.

Capoue and Paulinho starting for sure, we may see Sigurdsson start for his workload with Holtby being the bench option. Don't think this is the right game to bring Eriksen in. Lamela off the bench might be a good shout too.

Rose v Walcott is worrying and that's probably where the game will be won or lost.

From what I have heard, Eriksen wasn't registered in time but Lamela and the new CB who's name escapes me (Chiriches?) were with Lamela expected to be on the bench.
