Even if he isn't, Arteta was incredible in the role last season. In comparison to Carrick who was the leagues best DM last year So decent stats, although stats dont tell the full story, as Arteta really was everywhere. Is lacking a bit physically, but the emergence of Rambo and Wilshere beign back help's cover that. Very happy with our options in midfield. Edited by jlm8695: 3/9/2013 01:18:08 PM

No doubt your players are good, as I said before, but I just feel you needed someone to replace Alex Song after he left for Barca

More disciplined, and for a big guy like Song was he never got stuck in, and was consistently outmuscled. A physical beast like Gustavo would have been a nice compliment to this midfield in big matches, maybe we'll sign someone in Jan :-k

Wenger described the decision to bring back Flamini as a “no-brainer” earlier this week, and the Gunners boss was vindicated as the 29-year-old put in an impressive, all-action performance in midfield.
Wenger said: “I said it was a no-brainer [to sign him], I am just sorry that he did not cost £25 million!”
Some of Arsene's one liners this window have been brilliant.

Im more than happy with our midfield depth, plenty of options. Where we really needed another body was upfront, gonna have to rely on Giroud not getting seriously injured between now and January.
Also anyone who thinks Ozil isn't the type of player we needed clearly didn't watch enoigh of us last season

I'm just glad Wenger made a move at all. Stoked that we got a player of Ozil's calibre.

That being said, anyone who watched us a lot last season will know that we did need an extra creative outlet. There were way to many games last season where we just looked devoid of any creative outlet, especially in games where Santi was double teamed by the opposition. This Ozil signing will open up the game for us so much more because opposition teams now don't have just Santi worry about, they have arguably the best attacking and creative midfielder in the world to worry about as well.

Why is Poldi with the German national team? Isn't it normally bad to fly with an injury

Bendtner wrote:It's no secret that Arsenal and myself had agreed that I could leave the club during the 2013 summer transfer window subject to an agreement between all parties.
An agreement had been reached with more than one club this week but as Arsenal were unable to secure the services of another striker, they reserved their right to not sanction any deal to be concluded...
Naturally, I was very disappointed as I was looking forward to a new challenge, with a new club and a fresh start in English football.
Many things have been said about my where my future lies after many years at Arsenal; the truth is I just want to play football which is when I'm happiest and Arsenal is a fantsstic environment for any professional to apply their trade. I still feel very strongly about Arsenal Football Club and following positive talks with the Manager, I am looking forward to working hard to regain full fitness and doing my very best to help to the team and the Manager fulfil our objectives and ambitions this season.
I've learnt a lot from my loan experiences at Sunderland and Juventus and I want to assure all Arsenal fans that I will give everything I have to contribute to what I believe will be a successful season for the club. Most won't agree, and a lot of people think he's not even in the picture, but get back to full fitness and I think he definitely has a part to play.

Aside from the massive transfer fee and getting him in his prime, the other thing that makes Özil stand out from other world class players we've had recently is his injury record.
We're used to our world class players being on the sideline for half the time. Özil on the other hand has about 50 caps per season ever since he emerged! I can't see how he's ever missed more than a week or two at a time with that record.
On a related note, you really have to wonder what the hell Real Madrid were thinking purchasing Bale for more than double what they sold Ozil for. Sure Bale may be a slightly more effective player than Ozil but to swap them out and lose an extra 50 million euros is just ridiculous. No wonder many of their fans are pissed.
