We're used to our world class players being on the sideline for half the time. Özil on the other hand has about 50 caps per season ever since he emerged! I can't see how he's ever missed more than a week or two at a time with that record. So injured this coming week for Germany?

Ok so Viviano, Flamini, Sanogo, Özil, Bendtner and Zelalem have all been added to our squad for the Champions League group stages.
Also some congratulations to both Serge Gnabry and 16 year old Gedion Zelalem who have both officially been promoted to the first team squad. Ganbry will wear #44 and Zelalem #58

Apart from the signing of Ozil, you can't be too happy with the transfer widow.
Just looking at your ins and outs - there is a bit of a gap left by some of the squad players who left, leaving you a bit light in the event of injuries. If giroud goes down you're in trouble, also at the back there are only 3 subs covering 4 positions.

I'm so happy with ozil signing. The only thing I wanted more from the window was a defender who could play cb & rb.

Watched ESPN Presspass last night for the first time in a long while just to see if for once they said anything positive about Arsenal after the Ozil signing. Predictibly it was all negative  Apparently we panicked last minute and spent for the sake of spending where as a big strong midfielder would've made a bigger difference  This even despite Arséne saying he purposely leaves transgers till late in the window, because that way you're more likely to get last minute bargains. We sure as hell wouldn't have got Ozil for a reasonable price at any other time during the window. Agree with them that a striker would have been a more pertinent position to improve on though. But there simply weren't any available that were Arsenal quality by the time we knew the Suarez deal wasn't happening. I also find it funny how no one seems to regard Flamini as an improvement to the squad and act as though we didn't sign a DM just because we got him for free. I bet if we paid a transfer fee for him mid contract that people would see it as an important signing. /rant Vaughn2111 wrote:Apart from the signing of Ozil, you can't be too happy with the transfer widow.

On another note, if Giroud gets injured who do you guys rate to replace him at #9? Walcott, Podolski, Bendtner or Sanogo?
I like the idea of using both Walcott and Podolski switching positions between the wing and striker.

Fantastic signing and an awesome player. But it's hard to argue 42 million is a bargain for him.

Signed a new GK, signed a defensive midfielder and signed one of if not the best creative midfielders in the world. As for being light at the back, we're not that light really. We've got cover at both FB positions, 4 CB's(Sagna is the 4th) and Flamini who can cover at both FB positions if needed.

Also don't rate Jenkinson and perhaps require back up for Flamini who needs to be more thoughtful when it comes to tackling, if his tackle on Rose is anything to go by.

Earlier in the season you would not get a player like Ozil who's mid contract for a "fair price". Reason being that all of the big spenders do their business early. At the end you aren't competing for these players with teams like Manchester City who you have to overpay to compete with.

If giroud goes down you're in trouble, also at the back there are only 3 subs covering 4 positions. Flamini is proficient at playing rightback too. Those shows always like to talk about a club in crisis instead of one doing fine because it must get more people talking. After the Spurs game 5 live talked for 10 minutes on how Spurs have no creative midfielder to sit behind the striker (where Dembele played) and how they will probably never score this season. In say 10 minutes they did not once mention Eriksen who they just bought for 12 mil or so who plays exactly that position. Quote:This even despite Arséne saying he purposely leaves transfers till late in the window, because that way you're more likely to get last minute bargains. You know it is only possible to get 'last minute bargains' late in the window because otherwise they are not last minute. Anyway Bargains are normally come around because the selling club has other things going on. you could get Ozil (2nd biggest prem transfer a bargain?) because Real just spent shitload on Bale which only happened late. Others it is not like this, Fiorentina got Mario Gómez for just under 14mil which in terms of strikers is cheap, this is because there was a new manager at Bayern who didn't see him as important to his team. Other things like relegation, financial problems and contract expiry's can cause bargains at various times in a window.

Since 2005 Giroud has had like 6 days off injured from football. Unless someone comes in and snaps his leg I'm not hugely worried. If he had a history of being injury prone it would be a different story obviously, but he doesn't Flamini is not in our first choice midfield, so not sure why you'd need a back up for a back up.
