Fantasy EPL problem. Is Walcott going to play? They have him as doubtful.

Interesting stat about RvP.

Our win % with and without him in the last 5 seasons - With 53%, Without 60%
The last 4 seasons - With 51%, Without 60%
The last 3 seasons - With 54%, Without 57%
The last 2 seasons - With 52%, Without 55%

But Everyone know he has only had one good season so I don't really see that being important and I also know you can't do it with last season because he played such a high proportion of your games

Some more stats about this weekend

We are unbeaten in our last 11 opening day fixtures and have never lost an opening day home fixture while Arsene has been manager. The last time we lost an opening day fixture at home was in 1993 against Coventry.

Yeah, selling Song would definitely be a dampener on any optimism, but only if we don't buy a replacement imo. If we sold him and brought in M'Vila or Capoue I wouldn't be overly upset.

Theo I don't think will leave, pretty confident he will sign a new deal and all signs point toward that.

No I'm not angry, Sahin is quality and I thought he could make a difference for us, particularly if song wants to go. Artetas quality, I think Le Coq will get a lot of time at rb, Ramsey and rosicky run hot and cold, cazorla I assumed would play in more advanced role but maybe he will be deeper and I don't want to over work ox

I'm just going on what I've seen this pre-season, but it seems Arsene will be playing Ox in a central role a fair bit. Obviously he wouldn't be first choice there, but the idea seems to be to move him into a role there sooner rather than later.

Cazorla, I think, will be used in a more advanced role, I was more just saying he is an option in a deeper role. Played very well there against Koln. Him and Ox in the midfield would be very interesting, one would be advanced and they would be constantly swapping. Worked really well against Koln.

I'd be surprised if he did. I think Podolski may get it. Would explain why when the club released the squad numbers a couple of weeks ago Poldi's number was TBA.

Basically, when he was editor of the mirror he was involved in printing lies about 35 Arsenal fans, who he and the paper accused of being involved in violence in Copenhagen between Arsenal and Galatasray fans in 2000. These people were branded as thugs and violent hooligans, lost their jobs and were banned from Arsenal for life.

While he later admitted the Mirror got it wrong, he and the paper never did anything about getting these people their jobs back, nothing to help remove the stain they put on their lives and nothing to help them get the ban from Arsenal lifted.

Yeah I think we've only spent about 8 million pounds this window on aggregate. With a few of Bendter, Arshavin, Squillacci etc still likely to be sold we might end up in the green

Still very excited and optimistic about this season though. The only thing that could dampen my spirits would be losing Song or Walcott.

"We already recruited to replace him," claimed Wenger on French TV station TF1. "We have already recruited since we bought Giroud and Podolski, who originally were intended to offset the departure of Van Persie."
Wenger on the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19280162

We were all a bit suspicious in the first place, now we know it's just same old Arsenal. RVP gone to offset the costs.

Don't know why you'd be angry at that. He would've been nothing more than a luxury signing. Yeah it would've been good to get him, but no massive deal to not get him.

My heart bleeds...

When was the last time we sold to United? Thirty years ago?? This is proof that we can no longer compete.

It speaks volumes when Wenger had to veto the deal Gazidis made two weeks ago.

Who has Arsenal's best interests at heart I wonder?

I understand his reasons for leaving, but he didn't handle it at all well and took bad advice. He could have left with his head held high, got his pay day and medal and not thrown away the last 8 years, but he didn't. I wouldn't have begrudged him any success in Spain, Italy or the CL.

+1. All the 8 years are down the drain now. He could of played another 4 years at Arsenal if he kept his form up he could've possibly been up for legend/club great status.

Vermaelen being told about van Persie leavng after friendly against Holland
Quote:

It's been announced that RVP left for Man United.
-Is that...?
It's on United's and Arsenal's websites.
-Okay...
What is your reaction?
-Well, it's a surprise to me. I've, eh... Yeah, I think it's... eh... Yeah it's a shock. I'm very disappointed. I mean, I'd like to have seen Robin stay at the club, I mean, Robin is-- well Robin was very important to us last year, he was vital to us, so yeah. I have to admit it's news to me too, so... I'm not sure how to react, really. Yeah, I'm very disappointed [in him?].
He's probably had a tough time these past months with all this drama around him.
-Yeah, I dunno, I didn't notice it at training. I thought he looked sharp and fit at training so in that sense I don't think you could tell. But in the end maybe it's a good choice for him, I might speak to him later. I don't know how to react since it's news to me.
How will you cover for this loss?
-I think we've had some good purchases in Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla, all of whom really impressed me this week. Those are very good buys so I'm definitely confident we still have the quality at Arsenal to win things.
Despite this, the victory [over NL] takes precedence, that joy?
-Yeah I'm very happy with the victory today, for a bit. Tomorrow we go to the club and focus on Saturday.
A little bittersweet?
-After this news you could say that, yes. But I'll speak with Robin later. Anyway, nothing you can do.

Wish big Jens still played for Arsenal and it was him that received this interview. Will Verm be captain
