Maybe he was made to look better by how terrible Arteta was? As for the backwards passing, out of 75 attempted passes I counted 12 backwards which really isn't that horrible. Oh really? I thought Arsenal were long balling and passing backward a lot more than normal. is the team stat any different to Jacks?

Arteta for example it felt like he was missing every 2nd pass when in actual fact he completed 82 of 91 passes. Özil was the same, and he only misplaced 4 passes.

YesYesYesYesYesYesYesYesYesYesYesYesYesYesYesYesYesYesYesYesYesYesYesYesYes Quote:The winger has undergone surgery and will be absent for several weeks, meaning he will miss the last-16 clash with the Gunners
Bayern Munich have confirmed that Franck Ribery will miss the first-leg of the club's last 16 Champions League clash with Arsenal after having surgery to his buttocks.
The France winger, 30, was absent from the Bavarians' 2-0 win over Nurnberg on Saturday with the injury and went under the knife on Thursday in a bid to completely eradicate the problem.
A statement on Bayern's website said: "An examination on Monday revealed that the bruise, which had pressed on a nerve, was completely removed at surgery last Thursday.
"After healing, the 30-year-old will begin exercise therapy later this week and a week later he will enter back into running training.
"This will mean he will miss the club's next few games, including the first leg of the Champions League clash with Arsenal."

We've got bigger worries than Ribery right now anyhow. Like restoring confidence in a damaged team... Nothing short of a win (given everyone else has managed points off them) against Utd will suffice. If we get beaten by the side everyone is calling a shadow of their former selves then we've got problems...

As shit as it is not to win, maybe after Saturday not losing is just as important as winning.
Our back 5, Santi and Mesut can all have no worries about how they played. Everyone else though, especially Jack should have a serious look at themselves.

One thing that has to change is our attack. Without Theo we just look clueless. It's so frustrating watching a player like Mesut Özil run forward and have absolutely no support. That's why a lot of this criticism of him doesn't make sense. What exactly are people expecting of him? He can't do everything himself ffs.

Watched the last 10 mins, he looked to get into great positions before having to turn (often into trouble) to find a player.

Jack was directly responsible for that RvP chance against the bar late on and gave the ball away criminally a few more times which lead to a United counter.
As for Saturday, pretty sure Flamini is back so he should come straight back in for Arteta who should get a rest before the next part of this stupid run. Would have Ox and Rosicky in there as well with maybe Ozil or Cazorla sitting out for Poldi and Bendtner to start and give Giroud a rest. I wouldn't be changing any of the back 4, especially not with how well they've been going at home defensively.
Also interesting the parallels between this game and the game after the 6-3 against City. Both solid if unspectacular 0-0 draws at home against a big team. Have a feeling this game was more about righting the ship than sending out some sort of message. Still time to do that and in the end we're 1 pt off the top, hardly something to complain about. If we can somehow get through this run within at least 3 pts of top spot I will feel very good.

Just looking at the fixtures and if we can get through this run without losy any major ground we're right in with a chance. After we play Everton away on the 5th of April we finish our season with a run of West Ham at home, Hull away, Newcastle at home, West Brom at Home and Norwich away to finish the season.
In that time City play Southampton at home, Liverpool away and Everton away. While Chelsea play Liverpool away, but as all us, City and Chelsea have shown, all 3 are capable of dropping pts.
One advantage we have is this run of Sp*rs, City, Chelsea and Everton, unless we make it past Bayern we have almost a full weeks rest between each game.

sydneycroatia58 wrote:People said the same thing last year  That is what happened in the home leg if I'm not mistaken... I don't believe Jurgen Klopp was just simply paying lip service he said we'd have a chance of winning the CL if we avoided Bayern Munich... I think he'll be proven correct. Though I hope not - there's nothing I want more than to win the Champions League!

We conceded some sloopy goals and wasted some glorious chances last year at home. Just hope the tie isn't over after the 1st leg as usually happens with us.

So looks like we'll be resting half of our first team tomorrow apparently. While I understand we have a crazy schedule and Bayern on Wednesday, the FA cup is definitely attainable, so would love to see a near full strength team.

jlm8695 wrote:We conceded some sloopy goals and wasted some glorious chances last year at home. Just hope the tie isn't over after the 1st leg as usually happens with us. This. We got destroyed in the first half at home, definitely not in the 2nd half. Missed some great chances at 2-1 and easy to forget they only scored their 3rd goal in like the 87th minute or something. Half yearly financial results were released last night, pretty much increased our turnover in most areas but had a pre-tax loss of 2.2m mainly down to what we spent in the summer and a big decrease in property revenue compared to 2012, but that's not the most interesting part, what caught most peoples eye is what Sir Chips Keswick had too say about contract extensions, "We expect to be able to confirm, in the near future, that a number of our senior players have signed extended contracts". Please God let one be Sagna. As for team news for Sunday, no real changes, Flamini comes back from suspension and Santi is apparently ill so he could miss out.

Able to rest 5 or so players and still get a win. Lukasz not so Flapianski MOTM by far. Ox was also outstanding, playing himself into some good form. Chesney Sagna-Mert-Kos-Gibbs Flamini-Wilshere Chamberlian-Ozil-Cazorla Giroud.
Bring on Bayern!
