 Guillem Balague has turned the backtrack into an art.
A few days ago he insists that this first refusal we have on Cesc doesn't exist. Now today he says it does exist, but it's for some reason irrelevant

Well considering Wenger himself has confirmed that a clause exists it just makes Balague look like even more of a joke which I didn't think was possible.

Do you think if Cesc was to leave Barca. Wenger would pay up and bring him back? I'd hope so. You'd think even more so if the only other options for Cesc were other EPL teams. Surely Wenger wouldn't want the enemy having a quality player like him and you'd think Cesc wouldn't want to play against Arsenal.

I don't think we'd sign him, or at least I hope we wouldn't. I am a massive Cesc fanboi like you wouldn't believe, by far my favourite player but we simply don't need him. Signing him would mean shifting Ozil or Ramsey wide to accommodate him or Ramsey becomes our anchor.
The absolute only way I could see us being able to accommodate him would be
Ramsey-Ozil-Walcott DM-Fabregas
It could work, but so much of Ramsey's game is based around arriving in the box late or having space to run into. Who knows but I don't think Cesc will leave anyway.

If anything it would be Ozil out wide, Ramsey next to whoever is our DM and Cesc behind the striker.
Of course that's provided we get him. The only thing stopping it imo would be Arsene not being willing to spend 35-40m on him.

As usual Arsenal being linked with a multitude of players. Here is a summary of what I have seen/heard. No doubt there is more to add to this list- Asmir Begovic
Atsuto Uchida Serge Aurier Juanfran Micah Richards Calum Chambers
Javi Martinez Morgan Schneiderlin James Milner Hakan Calhanoglu Cesc Fabregas Sami Khedira Lars Bender
Mario Mandzukic Mario Balotelli Carlos Vela Julian Draxler Karim Benzema Loic Remy Antoine Greizmann
Most seem unlikely for me, but I think Begovic + Aurier + Khedira + Benzema would be a dream summer. Place your bets!

I think Begovic is too good to be a back up and not great with his feet.
Anyway, I think 2nd keeper + Aurier + Schneiderlin +vela+Balotelli/Benzema
I opted for Schneiderlin purely because I want to make Wilshere-Ramsey work in midfield, I think it can be done. Aurier will be a great buy, Vela ~3 mill too cheap to ignore and Balotelli or Benzema are the only ones with a bit of X-factor that we need in a striker. I would actually love balotelli, I think the professor is the one to get the best out of him. Ozil and Benzema play really well together and I think are good friends, so I would happily take him too.

Toulouse have reportedly opened talks for Jallet (French RB from PSG).
Would say Aurier is pretty much a given at this stage.

What's everyone's thoughts on Eto'o now that we've been linked with him? If it meant we spent more money on a DM I'd be all for it.

Bring him in, so long as he is not ' the' striker signing of the summer. New striker + Giroud + Eto'o on a free + Sanogo That's looking more like quality depth that has been lacking.

I'd love to see Eto'o in an Arsenal jersey. But definitely not if he's going to be the only striker signing. Although he isn't the player he used to be, he still averaged a goal every 2 games at Chelsea, so he would still be a quality signing on a free.

Fabianski off to Swansea (old news I know).
Will be a top signing for them and will do well.
Wonder who we'll sign as #2. Viviano a possibility, maybe one of the free agent keepers- Speroni and Schwarzer spring to mind.

If Arsenal do in fact have first refusal, For him to go to another Pl team Arsene would have to turn him down and I'm not sure he would. And I hope he wouldn't. Get it done Arsene
