Just pick up the phone call City and say here's £15m give us Matija. I'm probably going insane but I'm at the point where I'm just like, buy a defender and push Chambers into DM/4th choice CB Edited by sydneycroatia58: 1/9/2014 10:21:11 PM

Unreal banter from Wenger tbh.
Sums it up.
That... is depressing. Pretty shocked and disturbed that Falcao has gone to MU given how desperate we are for a striker. Nevermind how overpriced he would be for one season, he'd potentially be the difference between winning the premier league and struggling for 4th. Anyone know when Theo is back? Really relying on him to come back fit and in form. And relying on a miracle of no one ever getting injured in the back line this season. Squad is so thin it's terrifying with our record. jlm8695 wrote:I really don't even care about a striker, Sanchez can be that and will be that. Our lack of defenders is worrying and I can't fucking deal with fucking Arteta as our holding midfielder for another season. I've never fully understood criticisms about Arteta being our DM. Has always done a great job IMO aside from a dip in form late last season. Started this season brilliantly though until getting injured, and you can tell we're missing him.

Club were never going to be keen on Falcao costing £300k a week just in wages. Even for one season.

We've wasted more than 15 million collectively on players we've barely used in transfer windows before. At least this would've made a huge difference. Edited by neanderthal: 1/9/2014 11:54:45 PM

You would think he will have Monaco paying a big chuck due to the tax law. However, I have read so many different things about how he will be paid, it's so complicated.

Edited by busbybabe: 2/9/2014 06:01:29 AM Everything I've seen has said United will be paying his wages in full, so probably around the £350k mark.

A lot of talk that we're also really looking for a CB still. Welbeck may not be the only deal done.

Looking purely at our attacking stocks, you can't deny they have been improved a fair bit this window. We've signed Alexis and possibly Welbeck, while getting rid of Bendtner and Park. Not to mention Campbell coming back from his loan spells.
Just don't look at the defenders page on the dotcom

This is surprising. Knew Welbeck was decent but not quite this decent.

Someone on twitter mentioned Coquelin, and it's a good point. Can't see him leaving now unless we sign another defender.

So thinking about it, our defence really isn't that different to last year. Chambers 3rd choice CB replaces Vermalen, Montreal 4th choice CB replaces Sagna and Bellerin comes in for Jenkinson.

That's the problem thought. It was a problem last season and we haven't fixed it. Not all bad though, would argue that our squad is actually better than it was last season. We're just playing with fire yet again.

I am surprised Podolski, and to a lesser extent Campbell, have survived.

The other thing with Welbeck is it adds even more pace to our forward line and adds yet another player to our British core.

James Ducker @DuckerTheTimes 11m Welbeck five year deal with Arsenal, not four One of the most reliable Manchester journo's. Everything is done and we're now waiting for the league to sign off on Falcao and then it will all be officially announced.

The thing is, whilst I'm bitterly disappointed that we didn't sign a holding player it's pretty easy to see that we've improved on last year. Debuchy is more suited to our game than Sagna (not saying he's a better player before someone jumps me). Chambers=Vermaelan but with no injuries and versatility. Got rid of deadwood such as Bendtner,Park and Djoruou who were all on 50k per week (or thereabouts). Got a fantastic keeper for a ridiculous price. Signed Alexis Sanchez. Added a promising young English forward who we can develop into a top class striker =p~ Not to mention receiving 15-20 million for 2 players who weren't even ours in Fabregas and Vela. 7/10 window, just needed perhaps more defensive cover and a top class DM. Almost forgot. Edited by jlm8695: 2/9/2014 10:34:25 AM
