Yeah 7/10, just so disappointing that all it would have taken for a 10/10 was another CB and a DM.

If I get bored, I might go through the United thread and get some of your thoughts on Welbeck when he was a United player
I'm devastated though.

I'm devastated though. Searching is broken because of the Thread title, already searched to see if I had posted about Welbz before

Well here a copy from utd 19 from your thread BB..... .if you look at it realistically though, he just doesnt score enough goals. his finishing is awful. everything else in his game is pretty good though. So really what would you miss BB ? he's a good bloke ? maybe so but that don't win you games - prior to last season you had cattle that provided he manymany chances - his strike rate is shyte. Maybe in the ar$e shirt he'll deliver - hopefully more so at OT

I'm devastated though. I can confirm I've never said an ill word about welbz. I followed sunderland intently for a few years and have loved the guy since his days there.

Welbecks conversion rate last season was 1 goal for every 5 shots. Compare that to Giroud who is 8 from memory and for a similarly priced striker in Balotelli was 1 in 10.
His poor finishing seems a myth. Sure he might miss some chances but everybody does.

His poor finishing seems a myth. Sure he might miss some chances but everybody does. Yeah, most of it because he plays hardly any minutes. Give him minutes and he'll score, as shown by his goals per 90 stats.

We have been saying how good he is for years, only to get shot down, now he isn't a United player, you can see it. I'm sorry but it's funny.
Still close to shedding a tear though. If he poses in any of those fucking selfies Arsenal players go around taking, I might lose it. It's a hell of a signing at a decent price.

We lack pace in our forward line big time and Welbz had the ability to offer something different if we looked stale, if his finishing was better he would have got a whole lot more praise. I'm sad to see him go tbh.

Welbz Sanchez-Ozil-Walcott Arteta-Ramsey Gibbs-Koscielny-Mertesacker-Debuchy Woj Paceeeeeeeee. If that doesn't get the best out of Ozil I don't know what will. Surely it means we ditch this god awful 433.

His movement/mobility is good I agree but again his lack of finish is the key as we all know up front and that isn't good enough considering who he has been with (2008-2014, 90 games for a return of 20) and amount of ball he recieved many times in good position. Yep IF he finished he would be looked upon differently - even in their NT squad (26 appearances return of 8) though you can't judge him on that considering the game the NT plays. Look all in all good luck to he - as mentioned in discussions elsewhere maybe this move will bring the best out of him won't be the first nor the last when changing clubs a player ignites.

The one positive I will cling too, is that being away from United, he will now get to recognition he deserves. He has worked so hard over the years and deserves all the success he gets.

I get where you're coming from but TBF he has never been tasked with leading the line and has played a fair chunk of his games for us out wide.

Much better player than Giroud in my opinion. In a few weeks, I think you will share that view. The finishing debate will split opinions on putting one over the other though.

I don't think one player is necessarily better than the other, they're both very different players. I think the way Welbeck plays suits us more than Giroud and that he should comfortably match his output in goals.
It will be good to have options when they're both fit.

Fair point as well Fredsta - mind you I can recall countless games he being in the position to score regardless being the wide front player. Just look at last seasons SS show, Suarez always the front man Sturridge having to play behind or wider, look at the score count. Seeing the later posts I expect Welbeck to show up Giroud soon enough once he's settled, with the service the frenchmen has had again not good enough but welbeck will have a point to prove and may well work far better with the creative mids feeding him compared to the last season or 2. Going to be interesting to watch.

He'll still have to work very hard to earn that recognition, but yeah, I reckon the guy's got major Sturridge potential for us.

Disappointed a DM wasn't purchased. I think that is the difference between being a genuine title threat and battling for 4th.

Considering England are at Colney for training I'd assume Welbeck's photos and interview and whatnot will be done sometime tonight our time.

Knock wood we don't have any more injuries . Despite the knockers on mikki . The Leicester game shows that we miss him . He may not be a pitbull ala flam but he is an intelligent ball winner .

He isn't a true dm . He is under appreciated . We hopefully go for a dm in January . I just think the hate on mikki is a tad boring . People want a pitbull but forget he isn't the type of player .
