its hard when their chopping and changing the defence almost every week. Thats the main problem. Song hasnt played at cb in ages while santos is more a winger then defender

Your back four is still disgustingly bad. Mertesacker is a plonker. Nobody wants to challenge for the ball in this game, except Rosicky and he got booked - seemingly for being the only one willing to.
Cannot believe you keep conceding soft, shite goals from set pieces. How has this not been addressed yet? Surely Arsene takes responsibility for that.

Pretty poor first half. Being exposed down our right continually with Sagna thinking he's a winger and being caught out whenever Ox loses posession. A little bit of smarts wouldn't go astray occasionally.
Arteta is the only one out there who looks composed on the ball, and has the ability to find a target with a pass. Again Rosicky is well below par, and Arshavin has rarely seen the ball on the left.
So frustrating to watch.

looks like its: ---Szczesny---
--Sagna---Song---Mertesacker---Santos---
---Frimpong---Rosicky---
---Ox------Arteta--------Arshavin---
---Chamakh--- Very risky, especially Chamakh up front, he's looked like a poor man's Emile Heskey since xmas. Luckily we have RvP, Park and Rambo on the bench.

Thinking it'll be: ---Szczesny---
--Sagna---Song---Mertesacker---Gibbs---
---Frimpong---Ramsey---
---Rosicky------Arteta--------Arshavin---
---RvP--- With Gibbs a possibility at LB to keep some consistency at the back

Big game really. Our first home CL game, and vital to get the 3 points, not only because of the draw in the first match, but just to build on the wins against Shrewsbury and Bolton. I can't remember the last time we put 3 wins in a row together. Even with all the injuries I think we have enough to get past Olympiakos. I think, and I'd like to see something like this. ---Szczesny---
--Sagna---Song---Mertesacker---Santos---
---Coquelin---Ramsey---
---Ox------Arteta--------Arshavin---
---RvP--- Edited by sydneycroatia58: 28/9/2011 11:07:50 PM

What's the feeling from Arsenal fans about their chances v. Olympiakos?

Really  We came up against Barcelona, you came up against a Milan without some of their key players. And remind me, how many times have you guys competed in the Champions League? And how many times have you guys made it past the group stage? Edited by sydneycroatia58: 28/9/2011 05:38:55 PM Waah waah waah. Wonder how many years Arsenal will use that excuse for. 1 from 1 :D

I still use the term yids when talking about Tottenham fans without being anti-semitic. Arsenal fans aren't really anti-semitic anymore, it's the chavs at Chelsea and West Ham that are anti-semitic. Maybe the odd joke about foreskins and skullcaps are mentioned every now and then, but thats harmless banter compared to some of the filth the rest sing.
I think considering we're in Europe's premiere competition and you're in the mickey mouse cup, the term Arsenal reserves really does fit. It wasn't a dodgy bit of lasagne last time, you were just shit!
When my lot came up with that week in week out Arsenal would throw the kitchen sink at the opposition and then play 6 - 5 - 0 to eek out the 3 points once they went ahead. Bit rich considering we went further than you lot last year in the CL and beat you at home. Its a shame Nasri is gone, we had some lovely Gooner related chants for that twat :(

Anti-semitism is really out of order. We've got Yossi Benoyoun! Given recent matches that doesn't really fit does it? Still, pretty sure your lot came up with the term Yid. Its just a shame we took it as a term of endearment and not an insult :p

I hate the song, but we'll probably be stealing one of your songs about Ade's mother being a whore and his dad washing elephants. As for Gallas, meh he'll probably get some boos but most people are over him

Yeah Ive read that too, IF true, who starts alongside Mertesaker? Song - In good form, it would be disappointing if he didnt play in midfield Sagna - With either Jenkinson or Coquelin at Rb? Jenkinson :-k Santos :?

See I don't think our biggest problem is playing a high line, and with the way we play we can't really play deep. Last season we had the best defense from open play, it was set pieces that killed us, and that's the3 defensive organisation we need to fix.

KenGooner_GCU wrote:When Arsene took Coquelin off at Old Trafford we struggled badly. We looked half alright with him in the side. Shows how good he is in my opinion.
I think our defenders are good enough, they have the quality, just not the organisation. In all honesty that's the fault of the coaching staff. You can't put a back four on the pitch and just say 'defend'. They have to have an understanding of each other and what they're supposed to do. Arsene's ruled out signing a defensive coach which is very bad news. We will never be a force until we have some organisation at the back. Yeah, exactly right (RE Coquelin and lack of defensive organisation). Whilst not signing a full time defensive coach doesn't seem ideal, I feel Wenger just needs to put some emphasis on changing the way we defend and our tactics against certain teams. He's done well enough in the past without a specialist there, I just feel he may have been overlooking certain attention to detail issues under all the pressure and recent due criticism. He needs to slowly but surely get around to fixing and building on certain issues and strengths of the new look/evolving side. Though, I don't like/agree on how he opts with a really high line against teams who have quick forwards. We have conceded far too many unecessary goals by playing a high line, or when our defense has lacked cohesion with players not all stepping up and bungling the offside trap. Just one example on the aforementioned factors he's been looking past All issues I feel he will get around to, in time. If not, then we'll continue to suffer.
