If you take a closer look at the collision, you can see that Giroud's limbs spasm a bit and his arms to up in the air a bit before he goes limp. That's called a "fencing response" and it happens after you get concussed. If you saw the Arsenal vs Chelsea match last year, when Oscar collided with Ospina his arms stuck out while he looked like he was having an out of body experience.

Concussions are not something to be taken lightly and I've lot quite a bit of respect for Arsenal for not only letting Giroud continue, but subsequently trying to sweep this under the rug. He spasmed before going completely limp and was out in the recovery position. He looked dead for a second. How can they expect us to believe that he wasn't concussed?

I wonder what Petr Cech made of it, considering he almost died due to a traumatic brain injury.

Stayed back after the match to train by himself. Convinced he's not human.

Was discussing with sydcro last night during the game..

Last season Kos got concussed v Leicester. The club medical guys said he was fine to carry on. He then missed a routine header, and Leicester equalised. Kos was then subbed off a few mins later. Arsene and the medical guys copped a lot of criticism for allowing him to continue at all.

Arsenal clearly don't have the confidence/ability/whatever to deal with this.

No real surprises in that. Don't know why we went away from what was so successful last season and move Cazorla out of the middle. Imo he should be in the middle next to Coquelin with Ramsey further ahead or not in the side. Until Cazorla gives a reason why he shouldn't be in the middle, he should be there. Would then have Ox and Sanchez on the wings.

Yeah thinking this signing was a mistake. He's spent the last decade behind team that parks the bus and plays a very different style to Arsenal, how long will it take him to adjust?

Krychiowak(?) links popping up again, please dear god make it happen.

Sunday perfectly illustrated why Coquelin can't be our long term DM. He didn't do much wrong defensively, but as I saw someone say, the lad couldn't build a Subway sandwich let alone an attack. Hampers us so much when teams sit back and do what Hammers did.

Really? I thought he had quite a few good switches of the ball and at the right times moved forward.

I saw Ramsey as our issue far more than Coq.

What didn't you like about Ramsey? Was more efficient with the ball than Coquelin, created one or two opportunities and tackled well.

Only glaring mistake from him was shooting instead of releasing Debuchy.

Coquelins inability to pick the ball up off our defenders and play incisive passes is causing us all kind of structural issues. To combat this we have to play Cazorla LW, where he has shown to be poor in that position in the 13/14 season, his worst period for the club.

Don't have thee picture on me, but our average positions shows how awful we were all up positionally, lacking a player like Arteta who can distribute and most importantly hold shape is why we struggled imo. By all reports and frrom what ive seen (some La Liga and Europa League ganes) Krychiowak is a fantastic passer and can do everything Coquelin does defensively.

Oxlade Chamberlain also doesn't have a place in my team when we have Cazorla playing on the wing, there's just no danger down our wings. Cazorla and Chamberlain both spend most of their time sitting central before drifting wide with the ball, our most penetrating player was Debuchy for gods sake. People then wonder why Ozil isnt getting 7 assists a game when there's static movement around him and in front of him, with only Ramsey and our full backs stretching the defensive line.

God damn this has gone into a full blown rant.

For me, if we are playing Coquelin at DM, then Santi has to be next to him because Rambo just doesn't work there. Rambo only works when played next to someone who can dictate the tempo, like Arteta as you mention.

Against teams who sit really deep, might be stupid, but wouldn't hate seeing Rambo play in the middle next to Santi.

With how deep West Ham sat and with how high our fullbacks push it ends up being like a 2-8

Will change a bit when Alexis comes in, and also have to remember Ox would have been pushed further forward in that map probably, but he spent time at RB when Alexis came on.

That average position graph is pretty stupid when you consider how Wenger always likes to encourage players to switch positions constantly. I'd like to see a graph of a game where we dominated; i'd imagine it would be quite similar.

The problem wasn't the Coq; I thought he was okay - in fact, if anything I thought he actually tried to push too many wonder-balls through. He doesn't have to be that player and that isn't what he is there for.

I just thought that every player was slightly off - passes went behind, runs weren't being made, nothing came off for Giroud. Sometimes it happens.
i.e. look at this graph v Chelsea - where we played very, very conservatively

Yeah and also that graph is a touch misleading because Cazorla played wide in the first half and Ramsey in the middle, but in the 2nd half they swapped so would make sense that they'd both be pretty central.

Mesut Ozil: 54/55 passes, 5 chances created from open play and 1 assist. Yet there will be someone out there who will probably try and say he didn't have a good game.

If Giroud finishes that first chance that Ozil cut back, and if Alexis scored that absolute platter of a chance which he scuffed the first touch, Ozil has 3 assists and no one would even go close to bringing it up.

Arteta was amazing when he came on, can't wait until he's back to full fitness and replaces Coquelin.

Ramsey-Arteta
Ozil

Had us top of the league when they were for and playing our best football. No Sanchez then either.
