He has played wide for Germany, Real Madrid and Bremen.

He won a world cup playing on the wing and was one of Germany's best players

So Elneny has apparently completed his medical. Just needs to get his work permit sorted now.

Read there could be some problems with this as he doesn't meet the international caps requirement, Basel didn't do well in Europa league and his fee+wages aren't that much.

Hope its not true.

Yeah if his fee was something like 10m, like Gabriel, he'd be automatically granted a work permit. Same with his caps requirement, he has enough caps but they'd only help if Egypt were a top 50 ranked nation.

I CBF'ed learning you BUT...

At Real Ozil was at CAM with di Maria and Ronaldo the wingers and Benzema the striker.

In 2010 World Cup, where Ozil made his name as one of if not the premier CAM (outside of Messi) he was the CAM with Podolski and Muller the wingers, and Klose the central striker.

In Euro 2012 he played at CAM.

In 2014 World Cup he was played wide because Lowe played Kroos at CAM, but Ozil was a shadow of his 2010 self . Yes Germany were World Champions but OZIL was near near as effective as he was playing as CAM.

Man if by the end of the season Welbeck and Jack are fit I wouldn't be opposed to Chamberlain having a loan spell elsewhere next season.

It's crazy to think he's not even close to being ahead of Joel Campbell. Would not have thought that possible at the start of the season.

Not a great performance, pathetic in parts, but 3 pts, another clean sheet, outright top and Alexis back next week

Jack will never be fit, he's replaced Diaby as your treatment table regular

So pissed to see you score that scrappy goal but goals like that win you titles :( Team looks tired though.

Might finally see some of Jeff against Sunderland.

Watching highlights again and I am still amazed at how we managed to get Cech from Chelsea. Could go down as one of Arsene's greatest pieces of business.

So Arsene hopes to have a player signed in the next 10 days and doesn't think we'll sign more than one player, although there is a chance we maybe sign a second.

Also mentioned that Coquelin is running again and Santi should be back in mid-February while Miki is back and available again. That along with Sanchez being back and there is a little relief in terms of injuries.

Apols for not being on here in a while and if this the '10 years since' conversation has been had I apologise.

10 seasons ago this team made the CL Final...

J.Lehmann
E.Eboue (Lauren was injured), S.Campbell, K.Toure, A.Cole
Gilberto, C.Fabregas
F.Ljungberg, A.Hleb, R.Pires
T.Henry

Compare that to our current best 11
P.Cech
H.Bellerin, P.Mertesacker, L.Koscielny, N.Monreal
F.Coquelin, S.Cazorla
T.Walcott (or Ramsay), M.Ozil, A.Sanchez
O.Giroud

Imo
Cech >Lehmann
Lauren>Bellerin
K.Toure>Per
Koscielny>Sol (just!)
A.Cole>Monreal
Gilberto>Le Coq
Santi>Cesc (just!)
Freddie>current RM
Ozil>>Hleb
Sanchez>Pires (but Pires was awesome for Henry)
Henry>Giroud

So man for man our last side to play in a CL Final was 6:5 better than this Arsenal side. Agree?

How long will it be before we get back yo a CL Final?

Even if Leverkusen wanted to pay us to take him it'd be a stupid move because he wouldn't be able to play for us until next season.

That being said, if he was able to play I'd be 100% okay with the signing.

Like Theo and Wele? ;)

The only way we would, or should buy a striker is if they're a clear first choice upgrade. Hernandez isn;t that so nothing in it.

Reading the book 'Invincible' by Amy Lawrence, which by the way any Arsenal fan should read, and there is one similarity between that unbeaten season and this season. Before that season the only signing we made was an experienced goalkeeper the other side of 30 along with some youth players, this led to us being ridiculed and most predictions had us 3rd or 4th and one newspaper even had us 5th.

Obviously won't reach the heights of that season, but it is interesting to note the similarity between the two seasons in feeling before the season that the squad was balanced enough and all it needed was another experienced head added to it. Also another similarity, assuming the Elneny deal gets done, in signing a young player in January in a position that needs strengthening.

The story of an Australian baby girl called Lanesra has gone viral after her mother told the hilarious back story behind her unique name.

In a short excerpt published to an unidentified magazine, the mother, Clare Smith, said: “We chose our daughter’s name, Lanesra, because it was unique and romantic. It wasn’t ’til she was two that my husband told me it was actually his favourite soccer team, Arsenal, spelled backwards!”

A photo of the snippet was posted to Reddit two days ago, and it’s already racked up almost 2 million views and been widely shared.

But unfortunately, not everyone in the thread believes the name sounds as “romantic” as the girl’s parents do.

One user, PMMEAMAZNORXBOXCODES, likened it to a topical ointment.

User ‘MeAsaHorse’ expressed concern for the school bullying element, saying: “Kids at school will call her Lasagna.” Although you could argue there’s nothing more flattering than being nicknamed after a delicious Italian pasta.

Another said: “Too bad he didn’t support Chelsea then.” Yeah, because ‘Aeslehc’ sounds so much better than ‘Lanesra’.
