Olivier Giroud this season is the perfect example of how stats can be misleading  He's amongst the best in the league for goals per 90 minutes not including penalties and also goals + assists per 90 minutes

Who do you guys think will get the armband? I'm hoping Per isn't a starter next season so don't want another captain on the bench. Would like to see Cech get it.

So thanks to Smalling's last minute own goal this morning Cech wins his 4th Golden Glove with 16 clean sheets.

Quote:Arsenal are poised to confirm their first signing of the summer, with Granit Xhaka today due at the club’s London Colney training base for a medical following a breakthrough in negotiations with Borussia Monchengladbach on a £30 million deal. Arsenal had initially bid close to £20 million for the Switzerland midfielder but, with Monchengladbach hoping to get more than £30 million, an agreement was eventually reached on a deal understood to be worth an initial £25 million but rising potentially to £30 million. Xhaka had a release clause in his contract for £23 million that would have become active next year. Xhaka was expected in London today and the deal should be completed over the weekend and formally announced at some stage next week. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/05/20/arsenal-to-sign-granit-xhaka-as-midfielder-heads-to-london-to-co/ pls

Elneny, Ramsey, Coquelin, Wilshere and add Xhaka to that and it's our midfield set for years.

Honestly to get a major signing like this done so early in the off-season, if you can call this the off-season, is such a relief.

We've essentially got rid of Flamini and replaced him with Xhaka. The most ridiculous upgrade
Only question now is does he take #8 or does Coquelin take that and Xhaka get's #34

<3 <3 <3 Surely when fit Cazorla is in the team before Ramsey? Cazorla was in the team because we didn't have anybody who can bring the ball out of defence, and this is (according to those who have watched German football) one of Xhaka's biggest strengths. Cazorla doesn't offer anything else bar that, he's awful positionally, has no engine and can't defend. Now we have a player like Xhaka who isn't as limited as Coquelin there's no need for Cazorla to start deep anymore. Either Ramsey or Wilshere will be starting next to Xhaka next season, you can sig that I'm that confident. Edited by jlm8695: 21/5/2016 09:50:05 PM

Agree with jlm here, Cazorla was in the team because he fitted a need that Coquelin and Ramsey couldn't fit. Xhaka fills that need and more.

Great article outlining just how much our injury situation actually improved this season as the work of Shad Forsythe really takes effect Total number of injuries down 38% to 44 this season compared to 70 last year As of June 1st the number of days lost to injury will be 1695 which is a reduction of 19% from 2095 last season We also suffered less injuries in every month bar March and May compared to the corresponding months from last season. Only real worrying negative is that the average number of days per injury is up 22% to 37 from 29 last year. http://www.arsenalreport.com/posts/the-season-in-numbers-2015-2016-injury-room-summary-and-analysis?page=1

I'd say there's a more than likely chance Szczesny's future is definitely away from Arsenal. Rather have Ospina as backup to Cech anyway tbh.
