It may very well have been a sizable upgrade but that's moreso indicative of you not paying him much.
Edited by imnofreak: 9/6/2011 09:33:25 PM He was on 25k pounds per week after his new contract at Newcastle and his upgrade was talked about as being as much as 3 - 5x his NUFC contract. Edited by guest: 9/6/2011 09:40:34 PM As Imno said, you lads weren't paying him an awful lot (though it may be a lot for a player of his age)...the wages he's on at Liverpool wouldn't be MASSIVE compared to many. The big thing will be cutting the wages of Maxi, Jovanovic and Cole, who are all earning 70k+ per week to sit on the bench and touch themselves. re: Players being left off the shirt personalisation, that would be because they're transfer listed and the club can't sell shirts with their name on it, knowing full well that they don't want the players to be there come the end of August. Pretty excited by the Henderson deal, the lad has immense raw talent and will be Gerrard's long-term replacement. Great move by Kenny. Especially to have N'gog moving as a makeweight when he's worth ~3m on the open market. Good deal for all those involved.

French media are reporting Liverpool offering 8m for Dejan Lovren. The lad's quite good.

Na it's because of Sunderland wanting something like 16m + N'gog so Pool just gave em 16m.

Quote:Last night I believe N'gog is refusing to go. Average striker scores 20k/week deal at top club where he has to play half a dozen times per season. I don't blame him. But I haven't seen any concrete reports of that.

Being linked with Clichy now. 5mil, only one year left in his contract. I'd like to sign him for that price.

Not the first time you've been linked with him and won't be the last. He'll probably be off to Italy in the end.

Wouldn't be a bad move, but I don't think we should be spending money on a full-back when we've got Robinson, Flanagan, Insua, Aurelio, Kelly, Johnson, Carragher and Agger who can cover those positions.

Insua will be leaving. We need to replace him, and then add another quality LB.

http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/251881/Steven-Gerrard-tip-top-after-opGreat interview with Stevie. This bit is nuts: Quote:The memory of the twist in training on the eve of a trip to West Brom in April, with Gerrard collapsing in a heap, is still fresh.
“I was having pain-killing injections and taking tablets just to play before that. I was out there but in no real condition to be the player everyone usually watches,” he said.
“The day before I was due to come back against West Brom, I did a manoeuvre in training, and 98 per cent of my groin came off the bone. I went to see two surgeons and we could have treated it conservatively. However, I know I made the right decision to have the operation.” He is eight weeks into his recovery and will head off on a family holiday shortly with one of the club physios – Chris Morgan, Rob Pryce or Jordan Milsom – accompanying him and his family and assisting with his rehabilitation.  shock: Edited by imnofreak: 10/6/2011 06:13:39 PM

Raul Meireles (28) is a target for Inter. As announced this morning by Tuttosport, the Nerazzurri have a name in the notebook to strengthen the midfield line, and might just catch Liverpool. Marco Branca is already moving and accurate information to the Reds sought to understand whether there are terms of a possible transfer of Meireles. At the moment it seems that the request of Liverpool is 11 million €. The Portuguese, however, still has three years of the contract.
Better not happen farken.

Arguably the best midfielder in england last season and they think that 11m Euro is enough? Hardly. WE FUCKING PAID MORE THAN THAT FOR HIM.

Apparently we are struggling to pay for Jovanovic? Sell him, extra spot in team.

nhub24 wrote:Apparently we are struggling to pay for Jovanovic? Sell him, extra spot in team. You said this in another thread and got laughed at there, too. Why would a team who just spent 16m on Henderson and is looking to spend MORE be struggling to pay Jovanovic his 70k/week? No, more likely is that we DON'T WANT TO pay him 70k/week to sit on the bench when he is, to be perfectly honest, shit.

Like I said on the previous page, you're not struggling to pay for him, don't know where nhub got that idea. The struggle is about what pay off he will get for leaving. He wants 2.5m, obviously Liverpool don't want to pay that. Here's the story. Doesn't say anything about struggling to pay for him. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2002287/Liverpool-struggle-pay-Milan-Jovanovic.htmlEdited by sydneycroatia58: 11/6/2011 11:06:09 PM

Lol sorry I had no clue i posted that twice? which thread?. Anyway regardless of whether we can pay for him or not there is no point wasting 70k per week to watch him sit on the bench when we can sell him and get 4-7 million for him?

nhub24 wrote:afromanGT wrote:4-7m? Try 2-3m. True According to Transfermarkt he's worth 7m Euro. Which would put him in the 5m ballpark. But that's on the open market, not when a club is looking to offload him. Mind you, it could be worth selling him for 3m and paying him out 2m of that to move along in order to save the 7.25m that his contract would cost us for sitting on the bench for the next two years (Fucking Rafa contracted him until 2013!).

Take this with a grain of salt for the moment but rumours around that Liverpool have a agreed a fee with Blackpool of 10m for Charlie Adam.

A few of the ITKs on twitter are very confident we've agreed to sign him. Means Aqua is definitely not coming back - I've seen him linked with Napoli now too.

Stacking central midfield - Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson, Meireles, Adam. Got a couple of academy players not bad in CM too.

The biggest problem is going to be giving all those lads the game time that they each deserve.

I'd be very happy with the signing of Dann. Cahill and Jones are overpriced, and Dann has been excellent last season. I've always liked him and he should be fairly cheap and he is still only 24. Would provide good competition at the back.
I'm hearing people whinging about us not assessing our problem areas yet (LB and wing). There's still ages before the season stars, people need to chill out.
