No, you're right. Dropping to the pitch, rolling around in pain like a big fucking girl such as Ronaldo, Rivaldo or Inzaghi would have is definitely the way to go.

But how does any of that make biting someone ok?

I'm not saying it's ok. I'm saying it's better response than falling to the ground like he's been shot.

That's fine if people want to portray him as some kind of pantomime villain, but they won't be so smug when he's scoring a hattrick against them.

When the fuck did I say it was the worst thing to happen on the football pitch?

When did I defend Cantona?

Are players from United the only players ever to take a dive?

I said, from a players persepctive he isn't the most likeable character and I tend to agree.

Nah, Biting is just a dog act. And it's not even like he was tackled and that was the response, he just bit the guy out of nowhere.

His teammates with both Uruguay and Liverpool both seem to be 100% behind him.

No, Bakkal goes to headbut him, so Suarez bites him.

Moreover, after the game he goes up to Bakkal and apologises.

Shouldn't even be retaliating in the first place but if he does, he shouldn't be biting him, it's really low and childish way to react, as Funky said, it's a dog act.

I'd be ok with that.

IRT Suarez, biting is a pretty low act and I definitely wouldn't condone that behavior in a Liverpool shirt. However, hopefully he has matured a little since then, and this extra attention should force him to grow up.

It's all part of his extremely competitive attitude. He fights for every single ball. Erebus summed it up well in one of the Uruguay threads, but I can't find it.

Also:

It's similar to Rooney in the case that Wayne has sometimes stepped over the line and even Man U fans have said it was too much, but generally his fierce competitive streak makes him loved by his fans, but disliked by opposition. I'm ok with that if Suarez turns out that way.

Rooney stamps on a players testicles, but he's a United hero. I think that says it all.

I never said Suarez shouldn't have been punished at the time.

You however, still herald Rooney as a hero.

Well that went no where.

I don't call Rooney a hero for his red card (when did I say that), he has done other things that make him a United favourite.

It sounds like Liverpool are jizzing their pants over Suarez. It only takes a good performance to become an Anfield hero these days though :d.

Do you remember the time when Liverpool were good?

by Givere
Thursday, July 28th, 2011

July 1986. Liverpool’s Ian Rush is sold to Juventus. Player-manager Kenny Dalglish responds buys John Aldridge, Peter Beardsley and John Barnes to replace the out-going, Welsh goal machine. 1987 wasn’t a great year for the Reds losing their title to ‘noisy neighbours’ Everton and despite Rush remaining for a season on-loan. 1987/88 was much better and saw them regain the title with John Aldridge finishing as top goal-scorer.

There is a refreshing poignancy about the way Kenny Dalglish has gone about his business at Liverpool these past 6 months. Refreshing because on the surface it would appear that he has managed Liverpool with no fear and perhaps the naivety of a man making his first tentative steps into management. That assumption would be a mistake. He is after all one of the most highly regarded and decorated British footballers of all time, who managed Liverpool to three league tittles and two FA Cup wins. Not to mention a title with Blackburn Rovers in 1995.

These days, clubs no longer look to the boot room for a new manager but abroad for a dapper continental, dressed in Armani, standing authoritative on the sideline. It is indicative of the style we have become accustomed to, specifically over the last decade or so. A little Je ne sais quoi goes along way to befuddle the fans into thinking everything is under control (unless that Je ne sais quoi is dressed in black with the demeanour of a depressed Grim Reaper, stand-up Avram Grant).

Dalglish, of course, is not naïve and has proven himself fearless attempting to turn a slump in Liverpool’s fortunes, which in truth started the moment he left the club way back in 1991. Sure there was the odd cup win, and an extraordinary night in Istanbul, but Liverpool have not won, what Shankly called their bread and butter, the top division championship since 1990.

Dalglish arrived and immediately gave the fans and the team a lift. He has got the team playing as a unit, restoring those Shankly ideals. He made two very astute, if expensive, signings in the potential of Andy Carroll and the exceptional Luis Suarez. It would seem that the good times are on their way back to Anfield. For non-Red fans who remember the 1970s and 80s this might not be good for anglo-scouse relations!

The spending has continued through the summer with another £50 million spent on new recruits. Stuart Downing and Charlie Adam offer that creative spark that Joe Cole has sadly failed to deliver. Downing in particular, despite his insistence on being completely one footed, adds much need width to a team that has never really replaced John Barnes. Jordon Henderson is a different type of signing. Young, British, hungry, over-priced. There is a question mark over the £20 million fee but he has potential, it will be interesting to see who plays in midfield with at least six players all worthy of a place. A certain Steven Gerrard, for so long the saviour, may find it tough to get into the side next season.

However, if Liverpool are going to be serious contenders for honours this season improvements need to be made at left back and a world-class defender is a must. But for the most part, times are certainly looking brighter on the red side of Merseyside.

Another 3-0 loss overnight to Gala

I'm not worried at the scoreline, we were without Reina, Carra, Agger, Skrtel, Aurelio, Johnson, Gerrard, Adam, Merieles, Henderson Lucas, Downing, Maxi, Suarez, Ngog.

So it's not reflective of the squad. We're leaving it a bit late to give the regular XI time together, but we have another game in 4 days and I think that's where we'll play a more complete first XI for at least 60mins.

On anothter, Poulsen and Degen are absolutely horrible. Worst on the park, just atrocious.

Few days without a post lads, tut tut.

Linked with Shawcross today. I'd definitely take a new CB with the news of Skrtel being injured, and we definitely cant rely on Dagger to stay fit.

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_7075553,00.html

John Henry talking to the press about our aims for the new season.

Was worried when I saw Raul didn't travel to Norway but Kenny says he has a foot problem.

Looking forward to the game tonight :) Wont be able to watch but hopefully we get a result with a few more senior players in the squad.
