Also lots of rumours going around that Joe Cole could be on his way to QPR on loan for the season.

3-3 draw with Valerenga. 3 goals conceded again is upsetting, hopefully we put in a better shift v Valencia.

Enrique in and Cole out being talked about a lot. Mirror, Mail, Metro, I think others as well reporting it.
Would love to get Enrique in, and would love it even more if we got rid of Cole.
Makes sense, I can see Newc getting Nolan, Barton and Enrique off the wage bill, making room for Cole. We're signing England international, we want to challenge for big things, rah rah. Get the supporters on side. Kinda like what Roy and Purslow did here.

I wouldn't be too worried :) No point keeping Aquilani if he doesn't want to be here. And I'd rather lose him than Meireles. But if he stays, sure, he'll have a place in the squad. Jova to Anderlecht almost confirmed. :) Now for Poulsen, Degen and Cole to leave.

Poulson & Degan definately as they are terrible, wouldnt mind if Cole stayed as he could feature unlike Poulson and Degan who i'd imagine would be so far down peacking order particularly with Spearing and Shelvey emerging last yr why would you wanna play him.... and for Degan, dont have a good word to say about him! horendous!!! i havent watched a full game in pre-season but has anyone got a good look at how Charlie Adam is performing and what position he is playing??? ie bit deeper or more advanced???

Aquilani's agent has said that he thinks a deal with AC Milan could be reached for around E10m

I watched the first three games (Two in asia, and v Hull) but missed the last two v Valerenga and Gala.
Adam looked good. I see him to play in Stevie's absence. He sits in the middle of the park and has a fantastic passing range and he showed that for us. However he has a very big lack of mobility and doesn't track back enough, and this could cost us dearly.
Offensively he's looked great, but defensively a bit suspect. But he is certainly a game changer with his fantastic passing range. He'll find Carroll with some good diagonal balls and what not.

Closer to 15-18m Euro IMO. I hope that's not true. Re: Enrique, someone keeps changing his wikipedia page 'career' section to read 2011- Liverpool. They've done it about 6 or 7 times now and someone keeps changing it back  Good luck to Milan Jovanovic, it's a pity he never found his footing for us, but he's never going to be involved now.

Agree with you totally afromanGT, Aquilani is brilliant. Wish he wasn't so injury prone and had a shot to prove himself at LFC. Finally got rid of someone, hopefully we can shift a couple of mid's soon to free up some wages. Would prefer it if we got Alvaro Pereria over Enrique but as long as we get a decent left back I don't mind.

I think Fucile is better than Pereira, personally. Just as good, more flexibility. And a year younger, what's more. But I would think that either of them would be expensive, knowing Porto.

Yeah fair enough mate. I was just taken aback watching Pereria in the Copa he was brilliant commanding that left flank, also he has a friend in Suarez at the club. From what I've read his buy out clause is 18.5 million Euros so I think thats about 16 million pounds, which compared to Enrique is quite expensive.

Yeah, he was very good in the Copa. I was impressed with his performances too. But you have to ask whether that will translate to the physicality of the premier league.
I guess it comes down to how much we would have to pay for Enrique. If it's under 10m then he's the better option, if it's up closer to 15m then it's probably worth taking a chance with Pereira.

Yeah very true, Pereira could take a while to adapt to the EPL compared to Enrique who has a EPL experience which is invaluable. I think we will get Enrique on a better deal due to the fact he is in the last year of his contract and Newcastle are run by an idiot who sells there best players. Goal.com is saying that Exec's from both clubs are meeting today (British time) to work out a deal believed to be 6 million pounds plus 2 million of add ons.

With Barton and Enrique both on the outer, Newcastle can kiss goodbye any chance they had of staying up.
I definitely think we'll get Enrique for under 10m...which is pretty amusing when you consider that they were demanding 18m for him in January.
I don't know how true the goal.com story is, but there are stories flying around on twitter that Enrique is meeting with Comolli this morning.

I remember Newcastle wanted like 15-20mil for him. But we've waited them out and now everything is falling apart for them so we should get him cheap.
Ben Smith from the Times says that Joe Cole has put his house up for sale.

The award for 'most retarded piece of journalism this week' goes to...Yeah... we have too many midfielders, so we'll A) Loan our best player from last season B) Bring in someone else anyway. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of getting rid of someone to make room? #-o

Ha ha thats classic! Really makes no sense at all especially the line "If Leiva does go, Liverpool will need a cut-price replacement to deputise and protect the back four." It really defeats the purpose of letting someone go.

To be fair, it's the mirror, I don't get the surprise. They've been linking us with Biglia since January. I can think of a dozen better midfielders. And if we wanted him, wouldn't we have made it a swap for Jovanovic?

By day, Ben Smith is a mild-mannered Western Australian high school student. By night, philistinic journalist for The Times...
...If anybody should ever figure out the connection between these two alter-egos- *duh-duh-daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

The Enrique deal just seems a matter of time now, like the Downing and Adam deals.
I'll be very happy if we get him, and then hopefully we get a CB and that's it.
Downing-------Carroll--------Suarez ---------Gerrard---Meireles--------- ---------------Lucas--------------- Enrique---Agger---Carra---Johnson ---------------Reina---------------
2nd XI:
-------------Kuyt------------- Cole--------Aquilani------Maxi --------Adam--Henderson------ Aurelio---Skrtel---Kelly---Flanno -------------Doni------------
Woot.
Valencia game tonight. I think we'll see:
-----------Carroll----------- Downing----Henderson--Kuyt --------Adam---Lucas-------- Flanno---Dagger--Carra--GJ -------------Pepe--------------
