nhub is officially fucking retarded. If you go and watch the team he plays for and want to work out who he is, just look for the downie running around out on the pitch. I mean, what kind of fourteen year old doesn't know his left from his right?

Quote:Who was that pillock who wanted to play Mascherano at RB? That was jimsmith. Because 'he gets a rating on 81 when I put him there on FIFA' Eerily enough though, we did play Masch at RB a few times after that.

I shouldn't have to do this, but.... Nhub - Imagine you are playing a game as a goalkeeper. You look up the pitch towards your strikers. Your left back should be on your left side, and your right back on your right side. True? Now, look at your formation: Quote:--------Reina-------- Enrique---------Johnson If you were Pepe Reina, and you are looking up the pitch towards your midfielders and strikers... Enrique would be on your RIGHT side, and Johnson on your left. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. Do you understand?

To put it another way; turn your monitor up-side-down and read your formation.

If I was Reina and saw Enrique on my right I'd be seriously worried about Kenny's mental state

This is kind of like a two-ronnies skit...but without the puns.

You could help each other out and just, you know, start with the keeper at the bottom of the formation instead.

Looking forward to the match tonight lads. Really can't wait for this season to kick off. It's good we now have a reliable LB in Enrique.

Wow, Kuyt on the bench! Meireles on the bench! Not sure about that Kenny. Fingers crossed but.

I'm ok with it - he wants fluidity clearly with the inclusion of Suarez and Henderson. Kuyt and Raul great options off the bench.

Yeah good point. Impact players. Kuyt to come on late and harass the Sunderland back four. Not good for my fantasy team!

Disappointing. Fantastic first half but quite poor in the second. We just seemed to run out of energy and let them control the tempo. Good signs of what we're capable though.

Flannagan was a fucking liability. Could not believe the little tit stood off Larsson for his goal. Flannagan, a weakness to be exploited, which they did right enough.
Dowd is either incompetent or corrupt. I always knew that, and it's not an excuse - Sunderland played negatively, and deep, enough after the equaliser to make sure that the lack of an in-form goalscorer and closing the gaps in midfield that Adam and Downing took their chances from in the first half was enough to prevent another goal.

Go easy on Flanno mate, he's been called up because GJ and Kelly are injured/unfit. He did alright, but after the goal his confidence was shot and yeah, he was poor.
And of course they were going to attack that side, Enrique was a beast on the other.
We saw the beauty of Adam in the first half but his problems in the second - when you're on top he'll be superb with his range of passing, but if you're on the back foot, defensively he's poor.
Good signs from all the new lads though.
We'll be right.

Meh, such a basic error - hanging around in the area with his back to a player, no awareness of what's around him, didn't even lose his man, just not aware of who his man was supposed to be... you wouldn't expect him to make that error in the reserves, and rightly, he hasn't. He's played in a number of top level games now. Just being a replacement isn't good enough, not when he's been playing up there for so long.
And then afterwards to just become the liability he did. Fair enough, it wasn't noticed greatly in the total mess that we ended up in, but a fair few of the breaks came from Flanagan errors.
Difficult to see how you can blame Adam for what was a collective disorganisation in midfield, though - Henderson, Downing and Lucas were equally absent. And to be fair to Adam (and Downing), he's not a defensive midfielder. Two chosen to sit in front of Agger and Carra were Henderson and Lucas, and Flanagan's absence was only compounded by having to bring off Henderson for Kuyt to try and make more inroads into the defence that way.
The time when you need him to get sharp, he disappears off into his own head. So he gave away a goal - fine - it happens. What's less forgivable is to let that affect the rest of his game.

I can see why you're upset, and he definitely did play poorly after the goal conceded, but I can't be too harsh on him for that - his mental fortitude will grow with age. I'm not blaming Adam for the entire midfield disorganisation... I'm surprised Kenny didn't bring Meireles on in the middle of the park for Adam or Lucas, as they were both clearly knackered and not controlling the middle. It's alright - we've seen what we're capable of in that first half and hopefully we see more of the same. If Suarez slots the pen, if Downing's shot is a few inches lower, if Carroll's goal isn't disallowed.... AND their goal was an absolute stunner... we were unlucky to concede but after that we let our heads drop.

Ha ha too true. No offence sydneycroatia58, I mean we can't really talk these days! But yeah Flanno's miss was terrible, reminded me a LOT of Carney's fatal error in the Asian Cup final. No one really bossed the central midfield well, Lucas did his best but still looked a little rusty from the Copa.
@ dizzy_red: I though Hendo was playing down the right? Although I did unfortunately watch it on the Setanta stream haha.
Enrique was a beast for his first game after signing 24 hours earlier! Suarez showed glimpses but not enough and Carroll looks raring to go. All the signs look good, just needs a couple of weeks for the lads to find their rhythm. Bring on Arsenal next week, already looking forward to it.

Honestly, if that foul on carroll had been given a penalty, as it should. And that goal carroll scored had stood, as it should. And Suarez had put it in the back of the net from the spot, we would be very happy right now. Things just didn't go our way. We'll look better after the lads have more time to gel. We've got nobody to blame but ourselves for not killing the game off, Larsson's goal really sucked the wind out of our sails too.
I was happy with Downing's display, but Henderson was a bit quiet. We should have brought Meireles on earlier.

And of course they were going to attack that side, Enrique was a beast on the other. He was caught napping by Larsson. Flanno was alright until then. He's still young and it was disappointing to not see Johnson or Kelly out there, but we need to get behind the lad. We've seen that he can perform at this level, so it's not likehe's totally out of his depth, just a bad day at the office. Every player has them.
