I don't see Bellemy here to score 20 goals in a season. He is here to bring a fire and passion to the field and the change rooms. Even though he may not be the best player ever he has a lot of experience as a striker so should also be able to help Carrol develop.

Charlie Adam out for Scotland's next game and maybe Stoke. I presume Spearing would come in and while he isn't as good as Adam I won't being worrying as he has played with many of the boys last year.
The main two options I feel we have are:
Move Spearing in as I said above
----Carroll----Suarez---- Downing---------Henderson =------------------------ -----Lucas---Spearing----
Both Lucas and Spearing would sit deeper than Adam so we would have to rely on Henderson and Dowing for creativity
or move Henderson to centre and Kuyt in
----Carroll----Suarez---- Downing------------Kuyt-- --------Henderson-------- ----------Lucas----------
If Kenny plays Kuyt up front we may play the same as first formation but with Kuyt or bring Maxi in on second formation if Kuyt plays upfront.

I think with Charlie out we're more likely to see Henderson go into the middle and Dirk come in on the right, like you've posted in that last example.
Gerrard will be on the bench v Spurs hopefully too.
Can we fuck off this whole Bellamy debate? He's a Liverpool player right now, Stevie, Carra, Kenny all obviously want him to be here, so lets just get behind him and stop bickering about this shit. We get it, you wanted us to sign Hazard or Zarate or whatever. No point fucking whining about it, it's done. Get behind the players.
IF he plays like shit, THEN have a go. Not before he's even kicked a ball for us ffs.
Expecting Lucas to be in the XI v Ghana, KO in about an hour. Don't think I'll stay up though, will just record it.

Edited by moofa: 5/9/2011 10:11:03 PM Bringing over the page. Spearing would be way down on the list if Gerrard is back. You'd see him on the bench, but him being a starter is a non-starter, I reckon. Hehe. If Gerrard is back - and if the formation is 4-2-3-1 again - then Gerrard and Lucas will be sitting in front of the defence, with Henderson on the right, pulling back as Gerrard needs to go forward and Downing on the left pushing high up the field. That central position would be occupied by Suarez in the false 9, with Carroll out front. If Gerrard isn't starting, then Kuyt, Shelvey and Maxi would probably be starters ahead of Spearing. He's out on the fringes of the team - I wouldn't be utterly shocked if he left in January or at the end of the year, possibly on loan. I tend to view him in the same light I viewed Danny Murphy - solid, good, but not great. He's yet to show some of the decisive flair that Murphy showed though, although you'd expect him to start showing out as he gets more game time. But then again, this is a very different Liverpool to Houllier/Evans. Murphy would struggle to make an impact with the quality of the squad - easily the best since 2008/2009. Which is incomplete, and you could probably expect more British players to get drafted in. I'm on a roadie down the West Coast this weekend, so I'll probably be missing the game. They like their rugby down there, so with that kicking off this weekend it's not likely footy is going to get much airtime. I'll record it, but boo. But I hate squad speculation. This is going to be a really testing match, going to the Potteries so early in the season, with Stoke not looking so bad and getting a win at West Brom. Last time things weren't so good; true, the donkey was in charge, but if we can win at Stoke then wins anywhere are possible.

Damien Comolli has revealed that Liverpool are in talks to develop a partnership that could see them recruit the next Luis Suarez.
The Reds secured the signature of their second Uruguayan last week when Sebastian Coates put pen to paper on a long-term deal.
The negotiations further strengthened the club's links with Nacional and our Director of Football admits we are now close to establishing a formal relationship.
Comolli told Liverpoolfc.tv: "I've got to thank the people from Nacional, the directors and their chairman, because they have been very helpful. They tried to help the player (Coates) complete his will, which was to come here.
"They tried to find a solution for us to make it happen. We now have strong links with them because both Luis Suarez and Sebastian Coates have come from this club and been developed by their academy.
"We are talking about a partnership with them that we would like to create over the next three, four or five years, to see if there is more talent coming through. Maybe we can help them to develop their standards and in turn have the ability to bring those young players here.
"During the Copa America they had 14 players out of the 23 who had at some point played at Nacional or were developed by Nacional. That is a fantastic record for their academy.
"So it is very interesting for us. We already have a strong link with South America through Lucas, Maxi and Luis.
"Since it's been such a success with Luis - and I'm sure it will be for Sebastian - why don't we try to make it an even bigger success by bringing in other players from Nacional?" Great news. Amazing that half the Uruguay squad had been thru Nacional at some point in their careers.

John Terry warning Carrol that a bad lifestyle can be very threatening to his career. http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2011/09/06/2652523/liverpool-and-england-striker-andy-carroll-needs-to-beTerry uses himself as an example: Quote:'I've made my mistakes as well, maybe drunk a little bit too much when I was younger and gone out a little bit too much.'
funny how he didn't mention sleeping with a teammates wife as being a bad idea as well.

Quote:Liverpool hot-shot Luis Suarez insists he is not worried about becoming a marked man from rival defences after lighting up the Premier League.
Suarez has been a revelation at Anfield since arriving during the January transfer window from Ajax and he has carried the form he showed last season into the new campaign.
The Uruguayan ace claims he is not worried about defenders doing their homework on him and he insists he does not feel under pressure to avoid second season syndrome.
"I feel no pressure at all. In fact when a defender studies you, it almost makes it easier because you just don't do what he expects you to," Suarez told the club's official magazine.
"If he thinks you are going to go to your right, you go to your left and so on, and you just keep switching it round so you are hard to read.
"It keeps you on your toes but really it's harder for the defender because he can't know what you are going to do."
Targets
Suarez, who helped Uruguay win this summer's Copa America, claims he has not set himself a goals target for the season despite hitting three in his four games.
"I don't set a goals target and I never really have personal goals, just collective goals for the team," added Suarez.
"That is far more important than what I do myself. It is about team targets."
Suarez admits Liverpool's main objective for the season is to get back in the Champions League, but insists they will try and challenge for the Premier League title.
"We want to get Liverpool back into the Champions League and maybe win a cup," continued Suarez. "But we also want to get as high as we can in the league. It might be a little bit early but if there's a chance to win the league, we will go for it." Only Luis could make that sound so easy  Fucking love the man.

Useful information:
Last time we beat Stoke at the Potteries, it was in 2000 in the League Cup. We beat them 8 - 0.
But don't take too much solace from that: at the time, Stoke were in Division 2 (now League One).
On current Premier League form, our record at the Potteries is DDL. Why the fuck is it so hard to play there?

They play a very physical game and with home support behind it the refs can be very lenient. I also feel Stoke is improving and could be a top 10 team is Europe doesn't distract them too much so it won't be easy. Would have been a alot better playing them there near the end of Europa group stages.

I wonder whether we'll play their game and bring Andy back in, or try to keep it on the deck more with Suarez and Kuyt.
Personally I'd persist with Suarez-Kuyt here. Bring on Andy if we need to. But if Carroll plays I certainly wont be upset. And he could be a real asset defending those long throws.
Anyone think Bellers or Coates might start?

I don't think the physical aspect of it is really that much - I wouldn't consider United to be a very physical team, not these days, and at least not compared to the likes of Toon or Wolves, and United probably have the best record against them down there. I don't think it's the stadium, either. It's not as imposing as Anfield, and it's certainly not as intimidating by sheet numbers as St James' Park or Old Trafford - compared to the size, I think about 10% of seats are away seats as well. That's pretty big. Anfield let in about 3,000 with a capacity of 4,500 tucked away in the corner of the Anfield Road. It's something about them at home - Arsenal have a really bad record there, but I'm fucked as to know why, because Stoke get decimated when they go to London.

Anyone think Bellers or Coates might start? At Stoke? Might be a bit rough for a first start for Coates. I'd expect Carroll in there, because he can give as good as they're going to dish out. And I'd love to see Bellamy in there. :D But I'd put money on a Carroll-Suarez start, especially with Charlie doubtful and Stevie out.
