Thoughts on Carroll at the end?
I mean no one misses on purpose but he didn't even aim at the goal.

Not the worst miss of the day. Came at him quick, he wouldn't have had a good look at it cause there was people in front of him. Over ran it a bit.

One of the bright spots was Bellamy, he was great last night.

We've had:
115 chances created for 12 goals at a conversion rate of 10.4%.
As a comparison:
Man Utd: 107 chances created for 25 goals at a conversion rate of 23.4%
Man City: 136 chances created for 27 goals at a conversion rate of 19.9%
Chelsea: 105 chances created for 20 goals at a conversion rate of 19.0%
It's very obvious where our problems lie. We have more chances created than United but less than half the goals. Clinical finishing is betraying us.
We should get a poacher in January to complement Suarez. I'm not sure on Carroll at the moment. He's a good option to have but... I don't know where he fits in right now.

Man City has scored at the rate they have because Silva and Nasri put the goals on the plate for the strikers. Put Eriksen in and watch Suarez continuously get the ball on the other side of defenders for easy goals

As I said though, it's not creating chances that's the issue. It's finishing them.

Warning: Massive rant
Kenny has lost the plot. I can't believe he played one striker at home against Norwich! How negative can you be! It was as if Rafa was back in charge. I don't care how many chances we created, play one striker, get one goal. Simple as that.
And what about the substitutions! Fancy bringing on Carroll, then taking Bellamy and Downing off who have been putting in brilliant crosses all game. What was going through his head? I feel sorry for Henderson, he is not a wide player, yet Kenny keeps playing him there. And don't forget the introduction of daniel agger to try and get a late winner!
P.S. Is it just me or is Suarez's finishing very poor? It's as if he tries to do too much.

That's not a massive rant :P
First of all - did you watch the game? We played two up top. Bellamy was on the left, Downing on the right, and Kuyt and Suarez up top.
Subs were a bit odd I must admit. I would have taken off Kuyt for Carroll, and definitely kept Bellamy on. Hendo for Adam if anything.
Suarez does need to work on his finishing. He creates so many chances so he will get goals, but he could be more clinical.
I'm not worried about that - he hit the post twice, denied by brilliant saves, and then once at the end another brilliant save. I can only think of one chance he had where his finish was poor and what cost him.

The big issue here should be conceding goals to sides like Norwich at home. That and the lack of finishing. Unfortunately the best finishers around at the moment are all snapped up at big clubs already. Quote:Get Xherdan Shaqiri, we need some pace on our wings. <15 million too. Yes, because no matter how little you need a winger the investment in an unproven swiss player is the way to go.

Missed the game so can't comment but will catch up on posts and the web. Can't afford these draws - especially that the league is wide open at present up top well barring citeh for now - I'd just like to say thankyou for last nights thrashing, I did watch 3/4 of the match and it was a welcome relief after being down hearted what happened in motogp. Damn I don't like seeing those stats but thems the facts ! Edited by M.L.: 24/10/2011 11:57:14 AM

He's good to play against the big teams, because he works so hard, similar to how Fergie plays Park in the big games. But he is a waste of space against Norwich, he isn't needed. And he isn't a proper striker either. I just don't get it. Just as Carroll seems to be getting back to form (vs Everton) he gets dropped. It's as if Kenny has lost confidence in him already. On the other hand, Chelsea have stuck with Torres, no matter how much criticism he got, and he's finally looking like his old self again.

Yes, I did watch the game. Don't know why kuyt played. He's a workhorse, that's it. 10 shots, no goals. First player since C.Ronaldo in 2006 to hit double figures without scoring. Not a great record, but with a bit more luck he would've easily had a couple. He may not be as clinical as we'd like but his creativity and work-rate up front is phenomenal. I'd rather a player who makes the team look better, as Suarez does, then just a simple tap-in merchant. You also forget that Ruddy is an excellent and criminally underrated keeper as well. As for Rodellega, he's a decent player but a return of 9 goals last season hardly suggests he'd be more clinical than Suarez. You can't understand why Kuyt's in the team? How about: -His link up play with Suarez, which can be absolutely devastating. A combination of Kuyt and Suarez has more chemistry than that of Carroll/Suarez. Perhaps it's the dutch connection? -Ability to drop back to a wide position to track opposing wingers if we had gotten overrun in midfield. Norwich overrun United's midfield at times and they were lucky to get away with a result - Allowed Carroll to come off the bench as an impact sub. -Constant mobility up front-creating space for Suarez, Downing and Bellamy to exploit. -Add to the fact that, as you've already stated, he's work-rate is exceptional. :D I love Kuyt. Nah, I'm pretty sure I'm speaking for everybody when I say we lacked the cutting edge of Andriy Voronin yesterday.

Something close to it. I expect something like: Downing --- Carroll --- Suarez Hendo - Lucas - Stevie Enrique - Dagger - Carra - Kelly Pepe

This come out to me as an interesting quote from KD: "He had the opportunity to stay on his feet (and did)"
With most managers constructing their responses directed at their player I feel this may be Kenny trying to get rid of any diving at the club. I hate to admit it and I know most teams do it but I have seen many occasions in my limited time watching us this season where our players have dived. I hope we create a ethos around the club of not diving and I think this is a good indication that Kenny wants this aswell
