BusbyBabe wrote:Arsenal don't claim to be the best :d  This. I, like most Arsenal fans, know we aren't the biggest or best club in England, and don't claim to be. Off the field we may arguably be the best run, but that's not all that matters. To claim to be the best you have to win titles. Edited by sydneycroatia58: 28/12/2011 04:09:03 PM

He's been copping a LOT of flak in the media this week.

Bellamy had a fantastic game & take out Spearing spastic tackles and you've got a good young player their tbh.

There*
Bellers was great, but Skrtel has to be MOTM.
Stevie coming on made everyone lift. Such a class player. Made Andy really lift too, so close to scoring. I tip Andy to go on a great run with Stevie back and Luis out.

Spearing play a good tuff role - he just needs to learn to back off where force is not required to preserve himself from injury but we need the type of enforcer in the middle. Johnson certainly made use of the line going forward just wish he'd pass instead of pulling the trigger. Rest of the backline was very solid especially Skytel keeping Ba quiet - what a save the rare time BA chipped for a certain goal and he cleared on the line that would have certainly changed the game had they scored. MOTM imo as well followed very close by Bellers !! Carroll just freaks me out - what a perfect cross from SG to just control and put it away #-o - then the next perfect SG cross he hits the woodwork. As mentioned what a super sub to get SG back on - better ball distribution and what great cross's he put in then the goal later running past KK giving hi5 "I'm back !" ! I don't think the Toons had 1 corner compared to our 8 odd. Toons had their share of possesion but our defense was tight great stuff and oh my we scored 3 at home finally =d> Edited by M.L.: 31/12/2011 12:26:58 PM

Out of interest, A lot is made of Carroll being a waste of 35m...What are Liverpool fans thoughts of the 20m winger with no Assists and no Goals?

It's amazing that you spent 55m combined on a striker whose only asset is his height and heading, and a winger with excellent crossing ability, and yet they've completely failed to click and work together at all.

Its so frustrating. Downing has had some excellent movement, great dribbling, but his end product has been poor. That said, very unlucky to have no goals or assists - he's been denied by the post at least 3 times.
Bellamy should be starting every game. I know he has bad knees, but he is absolute class. Inspired signing.

Ce la vie re Carroll and Downing, our club and every other club in the world sign players in the hope their past good form carry over into their new club, us supporters get annoyed upset they don't deliver - heck how does chelski fans feel re Torres etcetc these case's are present every season in every league nothing much we can do but b itch ! :d Downing isn't as bad as Carroll thats for sure and I have he will find his comfort zone sooner or later, Carroll just looks awkard on the ball period whereas Downing is making good runs with the ball but as imno mentions his finally pass or delivery is a 50/50 many times.

Either the referee was utterly blind & shit or FIFA have changed the laws regarding flailing arms & jumping on someone's shin. Newcastle deserved 2 straight red cards.

On a separate note, Steven Gerrard>>>>>>Kenny Dalglish. Lack of titles should be separate from his ability.

Excellent crossing? Have you ever seen Downing play? Aside from that he works hard, he's no excellent at anything! Another expensive player who isn't doing anything at Liverpool. Quote:Out of interest, A lot is made of Carroll being a waste of 35m...What are Liverpool fans thoughts of the 20m winger with no Assists and no Goals? Both players seem increasingly obscene. People keep saying that Carroll is unlucky with his chances. But how can he have been 'unlucky' in EVERY GAME this season? After a while it stops being luck and starts just being poor form. On the whole I was pleased with the outcome form this morning, but really something more needs to be done up front. I don't know whether Carroll will stand up more with Gerrard in the team more or not.

I don't think moneyball stats work with football, or they don't have the right ones yet.

Mulhollanddrive wrote:I don't think moneyball stats work with football, or they don't have the right ones yet. Moneyball stats won't work with football. There's too many variables. In baseball you can look at the stats and it's broken down in great detail. hit percentage to left handers, hit percentage to right handers, hit percentages for each innings, etc. But there's also the fact that there's only two players influencing that statistic. The pitcher and the batter. There's far more in play in football's statistical analysis.

Well there must be some reason you spent 20m on him :lol: He had 'the most assists over the last three seasons'. So they basically manipulated the stats until they found something they liked about it. What significance does THREE seasons have? And a lot of those came from Young running down the opposite flank to finish his over-hit crosses.

Quote:The FA's case, in short, was as follows. In the goalmouth, Mr Evra and Mr Suarez spoke to each other in Spanish. Mr Evra asked Mr Suarez why he had kicked him, referring to the foul five minutes previously. Mr Suarez replied "Porque tu eres negro", meaning "Because you are black". Mr Evra then said to Mr Suarez “say it to me again, I’m going to punch you”. Mr Suarez replied "No hablo con los negros", meaning "I don't speak to blacks". Mr Evra continued by saying that he now thought he was going to punch Mr Suarez. Mr Suarez replied "Dale, negro, negro, negro", which meant "okay, blackie, blackie, blackie". As Mr Suarez said this, he reached out to touch Mr Evra's arm, gesturing at his skin. Mr Kuyt then intervened. When the referee blew his whistle and called the players over to him shortly after the exchanges in the goalmouth, Mr Evra said to the referee "ref, ref, he just called me a fucking black".
That's the evidence.

That's the evidence. How very endearing and affectionate.
