It looked like we played a lot of longer passes in the final third.

I was very impressed with Jonjo, but Jose made me cringe everytime he was near the damn thing. I was also very impressed with pacheco, and seeing lucas get a touch more game time is great, that challenge where he put his knee right into it was gutsy as, can't wait for him to get back to full fitness.

Haven't watched any of the Roma game - despite the result I'm not taking anything negative from it - being BR's first chance to see ALL/most players in game time is all that matters and the boys starting to gain touch and match fitness. 7 odd changes for the 2nd half says it all.

We'll start to see more of the first team against Spurs... the England lads are back, as is Borini. Maybe something like Jones Flanagan - Skrtel - Agger - Enrique Spearing Aquilani - Shelvey Cole - Borini - Pacheco

spathi wrote:http://aggbot.com/Liverpool-News/360/article/17432457 Seems interesting and it looks like he has a plan but I feel he needs to get Liverpool's wages under control first. Liverpool for quite a while seem to not have players with massive wages like Chelsea and Man City but seem to buy a lot of players and waste money on players giving them decent long term deals and for them to do next to nothing. I still think Liverpool need to get rid of a few players and if they are going to play with wingers, they need a new winger with 2 gone already (Kuyt and Maxi) and Bellamy also a possibility of going back to Cardiff leaving Downing, Henderson(?) and Johnson(?) as players that can play wide for them.

Seems like Liverpool might be listening even thought this happened before I put that up but the Mirror reporting Aquilani going for 7 million pounds. He is supposed to be on 100k in wages so Liverpool should also be saving 5 Mill in wages over the year which is probably more than what he is worth to them. Heart not there had to go http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/transfer-news-liverpool-sell-alberto-1181953?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

So far the only thing I've taken from the Olympic games is that their spending £27 million on the opening ceremony almost makes Andy Carroll look like a worthwhile investment.
The only thing to take from this morning's game is that Downing still has a serious case of the yips and that once again, even when we're playing 'well' we can still look dour. There's still a real lack of sense of 'shape' to the team - granted it's only pre-season and it'll be hard to get that without Suarez...but that doesn't say much for how we'll handle things if he's injured or (heaven forbid) suspended.
Spathi's link is an interesting one...I have to wonder how a guy can write what is basically a 180-page job application and still get wrong how many years it's been since Liverpool won the title in his first press conference.

Ignore the shit about Aqua. If he does go it will be because Brendan needs to sell him to bring in Allen.
Decent game, good tempo but no real standout. Morgan impressed me with his movement and work for the team, I think he'll get some time this season.
Robinson did good to.

Still scratching my head as to why Liverpool would be willing to spend that kind of money on Allen. We're looking at spending 15m on Allen while United and City are looking at spending 17-20m on Van Persie. That just doesn't sit right in my head.

Nice tackle by Adam on Bale. Lucky it was a friendly. Because it was a friendly, questions must be asked. That's consecutive games against the two teams where Bale has been injured by a shocking Adam tackle. Who makes tackles like that in pre-season?

Oh, Bale needs to suck it up. He copped a sore one and that's it. Lazy tackle but it's not like he flew in studs up.

Its not the affects it had, as you say it was only a slight knock but it could have been much worse. It's more that for one it was a tackle from behind on the ankle and the second consecutive time Adam has done it. Imagine if Bale did that, LFC fans would have been complaining well into next week. Last year Bale got bashed by your hacks all game and I remember the whinging when one of them got sent off :D

If there were no lingering affects I wouldn't really care. If he had've broken his ankle, sure you have reason to complain.

Look who's complaining well into the coming season  Watched the last 20min - we certainly looked better in attack than our opponents, Carrolls errors were lazy pass's not getting to their target, great to see Lucas getting more game time under his belt. Borini looks quick no ? So the Hammers are interested in Carroll ! yet BR says he knows nothing hehe Edited by M.L.: 30/7/2012 10:03:36 AM

Of course, but its not usually until the season starts. Cowardly tackles from behind in pre-season friendlies are just dick moves. I hope when the season starts Bale dishes one out on Charlie. Then again, I think Gareth is a better man than that. Maybe Thudd should dish one of those out to Gerrard and see LFC fans bitch into the next decade

If it was anything approaching a semi serious injury, they wouldn't have let him play on in a meaningless pre season friendly. AVB/Bale are just being whiny gits.
Macca (who is the closest thing to ITK, and gets the teamsheet before everyone every week, knew we were going for Rodgers etc) has said we're looking/close to signing a major star on loan. I'd guess from Real, due to Jose/Brendan having a good friendship, and if you're going to get a major star on loan it would have to be from a massive team like that.
Sahin? Kaka? Xabi? :P

Won't be Kaka, he's on his way to Milan and it'd take a minor miracle for you to sign Xabi

There's a fair bit of talk around Sahin going on loan this season and I think a few clubs are putting offers in. Only issue is that he's probably on a massive wage.
