No way, don't rate Johnson at all. Glad we dodged that over rated bullet.
Skrtel and Coates vs Aguero and Tevez next weekend, God help us

Liverpool have the money and support. They dont have owners with half a brain. You keep bringing in mediocre managers who scrape it at the bottom and these guys have a habit of brining in players at ridiculously high prices from their former teams and they end up sucking badly. Charlie adam, joe allen (good players, not top 4 quality) etc etc Also players the likes of shelvy etc sucks extremely bad. Instead of 20 bad signing spend the money and get one good one.

Honestly I think Liverpool just needs a manager who is excellent at recruiting.
IMO the only reason Arsenal is in a better position than LFC these days is due to better recruitment on a tight budget and an effective youth setup.
Ofcourse it gets harder when you've been outside of the CL for so long but LFC could do so much better with the money they spend and the reputation they have.
Every manager you've had lately has been pretty poor at this. Maybe Rodgers fits the bill, time will tell.
After Kenny I really thought they should have just shelled out big money to lure someone like Pardew or god forbid Moyes or even a foreign manager with a similar reputation for team building on a long term deal.

Hehe sydcro your post made me laugh so true. Even though I posted faaaaaark due to the result it's early days just 1game. For us I feel Rodgers has the passion and desire to succeed this all takes time - there's going to be some hurt but I expect us to settle in soon enough to his playing style but if only this can happen by the weekend facing Citeh

There is no doubt Rodgers will succeed in getting the team to play the way he wants. He should and probably will be given plenty of time. He has been able to bring players he wants in and he will have the backing of the fans.
My concern if I were a Liverpool would be, doing all those things and getting it all right but the highest league placing only being Europa league. Because they just can't do it with the players currently at Liverpool. Rodgers was great at Swansea but couldn't take them further than where they were due to the quality. They do need those 'big' signings. And I am usually the last to say clubs need to sign big names.

FFS, its one game into the league, as much as we all want success asap (me included) we need time to adjust as we have not had much stability in last few years... i think Rodgers will prove a great manager given time... As imno said Arsenal had shocking start but finished 3rd....
Hopefully a few quality players can come in and help the cause before deadline...
Come on you reds.

No one is doubting Rodgers ability to turn this team around. The problem is, with the players, I think he can only take them so far and it's not as far as they would like.

There's a distinct lack of depth all over the park. Yes, Suarez is quality...there's daylight between him and Carroll/Borini Same goes for Gerrard/Lucas to Adam/Allen Ditto Agger to Coates.

Just because I'm angry at the bullshit position that the club has been left in and expect better doesn't mean that I'm any less passionate about the club than any of the foolhardy blind optimist support that's on here.

No matter how much you try and put a positive spin on it, we've spent 2 seasons trying to win Silverware with Downing, Adam and Spearing. Enough said.

No matter how negative you are Ive been waiting just as long as you for the ultimate SILVERWARE. And I will wait another season or 2. Your not the be all and end all expert on the matter and neither am I but I will support my team till the end even if it means failure along the way. But I can see the light all you see is darkness. I dont care if we have Downing, Adam and Spearing I dont rate them much either and I dont think they will have much bearing on our season. But I have a belief in Liverpool. YNWA but maybe you will.

But this shit we've had to put up with for the last 3 seasons is just unacceptable. No club with title aspirations and European ambitions should be signing the likes of Adam or Downing.

I feel Liverpools problem is not the manager, its the personnel on the field. I think Rodgers has a good system, but he just doesnt have the players to do it. Johnson has become too stale for mine and the likes of Carra are becoming too old. There really is no depth as well.
Suarez is talented but hes not a leading goal scorer and a constant threat i feel when it comes to being a clinical finisher.
If Rodgers had the money that Kenny had, i think wed be seeing a much different Liverpool squad and i feel that is where most of the issue is. Kenny spent big and now the owners cant really afford to splash out again.
Also, with previous managers buing bit part players (konshesky et al) its becoming hard for them to get Liverpool to be the top team they should be.

It's not a great big love-in. i agree, its a forum everyone is entitled to their opinion... it has been a frustrating 3 yrs i agree AFRO whenever we seem to be getting it together, eg 2nd placing with Houllier and 2nd placing with Benitez we cant deliver what is needed to stay there or progress... Houllier's star signings to kick us on were Diao and Diouf from combined fee of approx 15mil from memory... and while Benitez seemingly drove Alonso out over his chase of Barry which all ended in vain anyway... while other clubs seem to find a way to survive when they sell major players by developing or purchasing the right players, our recent history suggests we just arent cutting it... however i am confident we are heading in right direction, ageing players moved on, wage bill freed up and i think BR will manage this better as time progresses.... but he cant erase the mistakes of the past overnight... hopefully we put in a good performance agaianst Citeh!!!

I dunno why you're mentioning Carra, Zim... he's nowhere near the XI right now but will still do a job when needed.
Johnson is quality, one of our best on the w/e, was good last year, good at Euro's... he's not a problem.
If the window closed now I'd be disappointed. We need a few more signings but that's it. Our team is good enough.
We are heading in the right direction. We need to be patient.

Quote:If the window closed now I'd be disappointed. We need a few more signings but that's it. Our team is good enough. We've been saying that every transfer window since Robbie Fowler first left! Don't kid yourself, our team is NOT good enough. We haven't addressed ANY of the problems we had last season: There isn't enough depth at CB - we need to find a CB who can play holding midfield to cover for Lucas. And we NEED to do SOMETHING about our inability to put the ball in the back of the net. Fuck, pay the 20m and sign Llorente FFS.
