yep the win was good - even though we should have put it away much earlier in the 2nd half with the many chances created grrrrr yep that final 3rd keeps being our burden. LS tried too much at times and should have pulled the trigger earlier but you can't take away from his desire and his taking on the last man something got to give just as he put that fine angle winner away ! \:d/ Young Sterling also tried too much taking them on when he also should have pulled the trigger but loving seeing his advances - Rodgers will mould this kid into a real winner I feel. SG was everywhere as you say imno - had a lot of space good stuff. So another young fella Yesil - good move. As we know the Pony Tail has left the building on loan :) I actually think its a good move for Carroll even though he wouldn't think so I imagine.

Another 'by the skin of their teeth' result. Buuuuuuuut the job is done...
Yesil's a talented player 19 from 21 for Germany U17's is a top effort. There was a bit of talk last season comparing the lad to Muller, 79 from 106 in his career and he's not afraid to throw himself around so he'll be suited to the English physicality. Could be a great investment.
Carroll going out on loan...so now it's just a matter of waiting to see who we overpay for on deadline day again.

Adam having a medical at Stoke apparently. From numerous good sources.
Can't wait to see who we bring in... I hope for two players! Both for the final third.

Adam out, Spearing out.
Villa agreed a fee for Dempsey but he said he wants to come here so they pulled out.
As I see it - Huntelaar rumours are nonsense. We will definitely sign two of Dempsey/Sturridge/Walcott (imo) and maybe a third player. But I'd be happy with any 2 of those.

It's going to take a ridiculous fee to get Walcott at this stage, and even then wouldn't be surprised if it's still not enough. Although given your track record with English forwards a ridiculous fee isn't far off the mark.

Bookies have slashed the odds of Owen rejoining Liverpool. Surely not

Liverpool are saying there won't be any arrivals with just over an hour left in the window.
Are we seriously going into the season with just TWO fucking first team strikers? Are you fucking kidding me?
It'd be nice, just once, for Liverpool to make it through a transfer window without making a fucking fool of themselves in one way or another.

I saw one or two articles saying he was in the team and it had Ryan on the bench, which I thought seemed strange.

This has to be a bad dream or something. Like...you've got to be kidding. We spent all last season struggling to put the ball in the back of the net and now we go into this season with even WEAKER striking options, having gotten rid of Kuyt, Carroll and Rodriguez and brought in Borini - who spent his only senior season in the right wing. Suarez has a case of the yips as it is, and if he goes down injured we're in all kinds of mess. The only other thought that pops into my head is that we might have Owen lined up on a free transfer. Which only makes me even more sick. I give up on this club. Nobody can be this stupid. No way. No how. It's unfathomable, ridiculous, absurd, incomprehensible, surreal, ridiculous...just...FUCK! It makes you want to cry.

Replaced aging players in the form of Kuyt, Bellers, Maxi and Aquilani with youngsters like Allen, Borini, Sterling and Sahin. Seen the introduction of at least 2 young faces into the regular first team. Gotten rid of more deadwood like Eccleston, Spearing, Adam. And a HUGE one... held on to Suarez and just as importantly Agger, even though top clubs were in for them. Massive. Granted, I'm very disappointed we didn't pick up a signing to bolster the final third on deadline day, but overall, I'm very pleased with this window. Just think... 2 years ago our signings were Poulsen, Jovanovic, Cole, Konchesky... things are certainly moving up! Edited by imnofreak: 1/9/2012 11:25:00 AM

Imno, read what you've just said. Do you think any of the big 4 clubs would find that acceptable? If Liverpool want to be back up the top again then they need to make some competitive transfers.
Man Utd for example have 4 top class strikers on their books. As do City.
Liverpool fans of early 2000s wouldn't be making statements like that. You shouldn't be happy with mediocrity when you're supposed to be a big club.

Of course we want to be back at the top again. But we have to be realistic. Does nobody remember how far we fell!? Our first team 2 years ago consisted of the likes of Poulsen, Kyrgiakos, Konchesky, Cole, Jovanovic... we've made some poor signings since then but also some very good ones... all of our signings this window were excellent in terms of value for the player. We are NOT at City and United's level in terms of playing staff. We have to accept that for this year, probably the next few, we have to slowly rebuild. We are moving in the right direction. The only negative in this window was, like I said, we didn't pick up another offensive replacement. The rest of this window was very satisfactory. Quote:If Liverpool want to be back up the top again then they need to make some competitive transfers. Yeah, all of our targets we signed this window weren't being chased by other clubs at all. Oh wait. Edited by imnofreak: 1/9/2012 12:28:45 PM

Look, I'm happy that you're content with mediocrity. I'm just yet to accept that this a long-term slump for Liverpool. I really thought it would only be a blip in their history.

Still strong links of him coming in. I dont think so after what he did Even with the need for a striker. And especially one who can score goals.

I don't have a prob with Owen, its modern day football one club player is a rarity - he served his best with us and will never forget that but his time is done and his body says this as well, he may poke a goal here and there but he'll be injured before we know it imo.

I'd definitely take Owen. He's exactly what we need, a player who's happy to warm the bench for most games. He'd only play when Suarez is injured or needs a rest.
