Someone tell me why we bought Joe Allen.
I'm very confused. Everyone says he's great, but all I see is someone dicking around passing to the side and back, not being involved in any meaningful way, and losing the ball every time he goes forward.
Hansen had it right on MOTD - it was always about passing, but you look up and you look to pass forward. It seems like all we do in the centre of midfield - where Allen is - is pass it back and to the sides.
I saw Downing legging it from LB into the box to try and stop Villa's second, with Skrtel having been taken out of position and Agger nowhere to be seen - there was a huge gap where either Lucas or Allen should have been. I'm more willing to give Lucas the benefit of the doubt based on what I've seen of Allen so far.
Confirms that I know 80% of our support is delusional when I hear these rigorous defences of Joe Allen involving 90% plus passing rates. Reminds me of defences of Carroll: running 9k - 10k in a game shows he's a hard worker. Screw that. You can run around the outside of the pitch for 90 minutes and cover more distance than that. Doesn't mean it's any good.

I've been highly critical of Allen's passing for a while now, everyone gets excited with him attepmting 100+ passes per game and all that drivel, but he doesn't have a single assist or goal to his name in 1500 minutes of football this season.

Allen hasn't had a blockbuster start to his Liverpool career. But he's doing what BR wants. And thats keep possession and attempt to create a tiki taka-like style of play.
First 30 mins against Villa was really good. We did everything but score, simple as that. Then Benteke goes up the other end on their first chance and scores.
We need someone who can just bloody put the ball in the net, in any way possible. I'm not saying play it long, but someone who can simplify Liverpool's play. Suarez is great, but he seems to make things more complicated then it needs to be at times (such as the constant attempt at nutmegs throughout a game when the simple cut back is right there!!)

Yeah, well, you can blame NESV for not having another striker. You can blame Rodgers for bringing in Allen to play in a position where we already had plenty of personnel. You can blame Rodgers for having an attacking forward line, attacking fullbacks and then putting in a player who doesn't stick in any forward passes and who can't defend. You can probably blame him for the confusion between Allen and Lucas in the holding position, like what happened against Arsenal with Allen, Gerrard and Sahin. Sticks in my head, Downing running in from LB trying to intercept and asking them both where the cover was. You either want to simplify play or you want to play like Barca. You can't do both. Personally, I'd settle for a bit of consistency instead of what we've had for the past three years, which has been to go from title contenders to mid-table jokes with a revolving door policy who keep trying to reinvent something instead of working with what they have. Anyone noticed the tolerance in the media and from other fans when it's Rodgers and not Kenny? If this result was down to Kenny, like at Spurs, people would be calling for his job; instead, if it's Hodgson or Rodgers, they seem to get free reign to do whatever the hell they like. Shag all to do with expectations, reinventions or rebuilds. We had an expensive team. We had really good staff in Dalglish and Clarke. There was stuff to build on. It's everything to do with throwing millions at players and then failing to do anything with them. You don't marginalise your most expensive players and put the people who've been the backbone of your midfield out on loan. This youth fetish is getting right on my nerves. You know what you need before a young manager? A manager who knows what he's doing.

The next person to use the phrase 'tiki-taka' gets shot in the face. This style of football DOESNT WORK in england - Arsenal have been trying to win with it for the last 7 years and come up with bubkiss.

Aside from your issues up front, your midfeld needs some attention too.
Lucas - Allen - Gerard are pertty uninspiring. You really need an advanced midfielder, one who can create and score. Shelvey has shown promise, but when you look at the other top EPL clubs, they all have that advanced playmaker doing the damage - Mata, Cazorla, Rooney, Silva, etc.
And no one can convince me that Garard is still up to that standard - he is sitting deeper and deeper in his old age.

Personally I'd be playing him further up the park and leaving Gerrard working deeper. He doesn't have the pace or the athletic ability that he used to.

For those who missed it, Suso has been fined 10k by the FA for improper conduct. The midfielder posted a photo on twitter of Enrique having his teeth whitened and wrote: "This guy is gay... he does everything except play football."
 are you kidding?

 are you kidding? Kidding about what? Was Suso kidding or was the FA kidding? The FA, who run anti-homophobia campaigns? Are they kidding reinforcing their ban on homophobic slurs through fining players who use them on social media? It's a homophobic slur that reinforces what we know about the game anyway: that this kind of insidious discrimination is still considered acceptable by halfwitted neanderthals, and not just in the game. I hear people saying that stuff is 'gay' all the damn time. Replace it with 'black' in the same context, see how acceptable it is then. Then get yourself down to Brixton and start using your hilarious slurs in the shops. See how dedicated to this hilarious principle you are. We've joined in Liverpool Pride this year, so it's doubly annoying that Suso thought that was appropriate. This is the SECOND time Suso's done this. Last time it was "He has some mental problems". You know what's most annoying? Enrique's response. Amazing how they can fine him for banter, he says. You know what Jose? You're not the damn victim in this, you soft prick.

Sure, it's not in the best taste, but the FA warn him and everyone goes about their business. A fine is complete overkill.

#-o the trials and tribulations of modern day and football...absolute joke imo all this tech talk BS. We talk of this and not the fucken game itself. Soon you'll be fined for farting or taken to court for polluting the air someone next to you expected to be fart free :d Some good points re our un inspiring midefield but talk of this is really only because we haven't banked any goals - we all have seen countless opportunites over many games past not converted or the high stat of woodwork hit ! So I can't blame entirely the mid but the comments re SG I agree, he should just sit deep and show us all the great ball he can provide straight onto the feet in the top third. 5points diff to 5th on the ladder - the coming Dec games Fulham < tuff game @ home. Stoke < tuffer away and currently best GA god help us ! QPR well I just don't know what to expect  away again. January is the bloody big Q - BR better buy up some shooters thats all I want see in the short term ! Jan's fixtures [-o< Hey where's imno - on leave maybe ?

Normally you'd think that all three of those games are win-able, but after that performance against Villa I wouldn't be surprised if we only took 4 points out of those games.

Sturridge isn't so bad. Should have taken him in the Torres deal instead of Carroll. Ince is just bad business, like not stumping up the money for Dempsey.
NESV have fucked the Red Sox with bad business, now they're doing for us.
